Wish they had more to show but I'm glad to see anything at this point. Now if you'll excuse me I'll be squinting at concept art to try to decipher the potential party members.

Ouf it still looks so early, and they really managed to use so many words to say a whole lot of nothing. At least it's nice to see they haven't given up on the game. I don't expect we'll see anything concrete until late next year or even 2022, and likely won't release until 2023 once the next-gen is well established. Better than rushing it like they did Anthem at least...

So far each DA game has different from the previous one and the series' identity has been hard to pinpoint, especially when compared to their Mass Effect series. It sounds like they're trying to work of Inquisition instead of revisiting what they had with Origins which I can't say I'm too happy about but is expected

Heavily featured in Tevinter Nights, and BioWare loves releasing a book to foreshadow the next Dragon Age (e.g. The Masked Empire), so that's very likely, yeah. And it's good, it allows them quite a lot of freedom as far as the story goes. Hopefully origins are back too.
Honestly still think it's the Tevinter Spy organisation they mentioned without showing in the last story in Tevinter Nights, they are ones that are controlled by coming from slavery and still having people they care about in slavery and it would fit with the "having to deal with people in power who don't want to face the problems that are there' theme they mentioned while a Lord of Fortune wouldn't have anything to tie to them having to deal with the problems of the world.

This was wack. As someone who was super excited for DA4, EA needs to stop showing off concept art.

Given how frequently people keep perpetuating the false narrative that the game will never exist, I don't blame them for doing this.

Also, and this is a low bar, but they revealed more here than they did for the similar "developers are hyped at Bioware" shtick video for Andromeda and Anthem in years past.

Honestly think you need to have at least read the Tevinter Night book to notice some of the stuff they are teasing there tbf

All of the gold the companions are wearing is a dead giveaway, honestly the most exciting thing for me here is them seemingly investing big cities. DAI was all wilderness and the concept art reflected it.
Yep. And a welcome change too. I love Inquisition, but I missed having big cities and exploring wilderness, even as varied as they were, would get tiresome after the 40th hour.
i think its years away still
It is, for sure. But I believe the 2022 launch is kind of a lock. They're teasing the game quite a bit this year and it looks like they are further along than everybody expected. I expect an official announcement and reveal next year, with the game launching mid to late 2022.

Also no offense but man is it telling that Weekes was the guy who was best known for the Mordin plot went straight to DA never looked back at Mass Effect.

That's true! But the Andromeda video was like. "At Bioware, we're looking at innovative new ways to innovate innovatively" while a not-Mako went vroom. Anthem's happened before the game even had a name and it was just like three screenshots of nature and a weird building.

They're going to say that after this. People like to say stuff. I wanted a real trailer lol. Even something CG would've been good.

I'd love to play Origins on PS5 over and over again.
Me too! Also, I know people hate it but I wouldn't mind playing 2 again. I understand the issues but I love the premise and it is an important moment in history considering the events of the DA: I.
Halo Infinite is the only "AAA" crossgen game from them. All the other big Microsoft games (Avowed, Fable, Forza, Everwild, etc.) Are NextGen only. Not sure what that has to do with this though, as its EA's choice if it's crossgen or not.
Yeah, it looks like Microsoft was over selling the whole cross gen thing. I doubt anyone will be making games for the XBO and PS4 in 2022, at least in the AAA space

Bioware has dropped the ball so far that this new Dragon Age feels like being developed by an Indie subdivision studio from Bioware.

I don't expect to see this game launching till 2024, 2025..

True, they were a lot more vague. They also didn't have a sexy, pouty Solas face so were obviously inferior

I don't actively follow the Dragon Age series but it looks like this is a big shakeup in terms of the creative leads. It's a shame they couldn't get a woman in one of those positions. Although lead writer, Patrick Weekes, is queer and uses they/them pronouns.

As someone who hasn't played the series, and doesn't really follow it - I expected it to be further along. Concept art and some tech demo stuff?

Maybe I'm misremembering when it first got teased.

I loved and played DA II probably 3-4 times. Even with lots of legitimate issues it's still very good.

For me though, Origins is just special. Can't get enough of that game.

What an anticlimactic way to announce your game
EA's behind the scenes game announcement are the worst

I don't understand this shit. For how long have we seen these snippets of in-development footage and concept art? They haven't even properly made an announcement.

They've still got Darrah and Weekes at the top but the lack of Laidlaw does hurt.

I totally agree with you though.

They did Val Royeaux "dirty" last game. The section we explored was too small. I am glad to see the cities in the new game look big.

I hope there are lots of anti Qun dialogue options.

Bit light on details, but to be expected at this stage. Concept art looked great and really dynamic and varied though. What test footage there was looked nice too. I'm not exactly concerned how this will look graphics wise. DAI was and is still pretty gorgeous. This is still a couple years off at least though so lots can change and lots to do. DA is one of my favorite series and I hope BioWare can really get it right this time with no caveats like DA2 and DAI. There was a lot to like about DAI, but it was a very bloated game which lacked the right focus on what makes a BioWare and DA game fun and often felt like it chasing trends and checking off feature boxes.

I hope that BioWare as a company has also started to address their issues culturally so the team has a more healthy and less toxic work environment.

I can understand some people's desire for BioWare to recapture the old tactical iso days with gameplay, but I don't think that's the way forward for them. ME3, Andromeda, and Anthem all displayed a basic competence with action feel that I don't think they could conjure for an iso style game. Their best bet is certainly to double down on making the action portion feel right.

I actually really liked this vid? Loved the enthusiasm and saw much more in engine stuff than I was expecting to see from this game. Curious how it'll pan out eventually. Inquisition was really great after initially dismissing it.

There are two games I hold near and dear to my heart because they got me through particularly bad times in my life. One of them is Origins which got me through the most intense break up I've ever experienced. There was nothing like getting lost in that world when I was going through that and I truly love the series for that.

Yeah no kidding. I just looked at his resume and holy shit, he wrote some of my least liked character: Kaidan, Jacob, Aveline, Carver and Sera. The first four were just boring, Sera however is obnoxious as hell and a terrible character.

Not too sure I like the Dev vidoc approach they are going with in regards to marketing this game. Sure it's always nice to see how Devs work but I think given Bioware's recent output they should be more focused on making an impact.

But again , nice to have a reminder that EA has not totally killed the IP.

Huh... Spiders with hands. Didn't notice that.

I guess it's another Tevinter Nights thing, with the mutated creatures described in the Horror of Hormak. Looks like we'll be dealing with that too. Quite exciting.

Really? Feels like I've been hearing about DA4 since forever for some reason.
I mean, they released a teaser at the Game Awards 2018, but we've heard nothing of it since outside of insider info from Schreier, then they showed some in-game locations during EA Play in June and now this.

Carver was fucking good and Sera to this day is the only companion that realizes that monarchy is an abomination.

(Also the dude's been there since like BG1, cut him some slack.)

EDIT: Hell he was the lead writer for BG1 and Jaheira through both games
