I'm unmarried and live alone. Even though I traditionally work from home quite often, I still would go out and see friends pretty regularly. Practicing social distancing has been sort of rough, but the one thing that has made it much more bearable has been my dog. My dog and I have always been super close to each other, but I feel almost like I'm rediscovering how goofy and fun he is to be around constantly. I like my dog quite a bit, I hope he's enjoying having me around for weeks at a time.

Feel free to post pictures of your isolation companion.

I wonder if dogs are disappointed that they lost their private time.

My dog has his own private spot to get away if he needs to. Sometimes he indeed does go and chill alone. Most of the time, though, he's by my side. Like i'm typing this with him laying his head in my lap right now.

Funny you mention that, though, because my dog love to lick himself, and when I see him do it I'll say "Nope!" to make him stop. And he's gotten pissed about it lately, and I've noticed he'll peak around corners to see if I'm around before starting to lick himself now. Like I saw him do this yesterday through a mirror in my room, haha. He'll also walk to another room to lick himself if I tell him "nope." He has this super telling trot he does when he goes to lick himself, haha.

My cats are loving having me at home all the time. The younger one is glued to my lap most of the day.

Not sure if my Cat enjoys everyone in the house 24/7. Seems a tad cranky.

Even though I love my current dog, I still miss and remember my previous dog. Every November, when he had to be put down, I think about him a lot. I miss him.
Yeah, I love dogs, but I could never get another one.

She had been with me for more than half my life when she passed (she was 18!).

I think my cat's a bit disappointed, because I mostly ignore him while working. I have to :(

He used to be so hyped when I'd come home from work too, he'd wait at the door to greet me and then go stand outside (he's an indoor cat, so just the front step is enough for him, he won't go further). Now that never happens. Poor guy.

I hope so much that my current dog lives that long. I can already see him slowing down, he sleeps a lot more now. He can still get spunky, though.

I don't think I can go without another dog ever again. When my current dog passes, I will immediately get another dog. Not to replace him, mind you, but because I know I'm going to be devestated, and in the past, I've known puppies to be incredible at helping a person in emotional distress. I can't think of a better bonding exercise than being in a situation like that where I'll need a puppy more than ever.

My dog sleeps at my hip. When I wake up, basically every day my first words to him are "Good morning puppy" and he gets excited like I just came home. It's a sign it'll be a good day when I wake up to puppy dog kisses.

Dogs are better than us and that's why they're great. They don't judge. They're always excited to see us. They don't care what sex, religion or political system that defines us. They just are. They remind us to be true to who we are.

I love my dogs Oliver (primarily white one) and Leon (white and tan smaller one) and they both know doubt make my home a much better place to be stuck in.
Can scroll between the first one to see them individually.

Then a rain coat shot. We only made it 3 blocks before the little one on the left Leon refused to keep walking. He HATES the rain.

One literally cannot be in a bad mood if you have these two faces looking at you most of the day.

Right before all this started we got a new kitten/cat. He sleeps all stretched out. Our other, older cat sleeps like a compact ball.

Low key the best thread in era right now. I have a shithead Aussie puppy and a poor American Eskimo recovering from a double knee surgery. They definitely make this more bearable. Now if I can figure out how to drill the potty training into my puppy's head and get her to stop play biting that would be great (shes 5 months old now).

They are. Anju has difficulties to get rest because when we are home she's always so happy and excited. Getting her to rest her 16-20 hours a day is quite hard.

Many other dog owners have similar problems. We started some home-exercise yesterday. Was fun.

Do a high pitched drama scream everytime she bites and take the puppy out ever 30 mins to 1 hour for potty training. oh and take her out right after every accident even if its outside the schedule. Do stick to schedule.

Ours was done after 2 days. After that you can stretch the time slowly to 2-3, 4-5, 5-6 hours.

its ahell of 3-4 weeks but worth it.

I wonder if dogs are disappointed that they lost their private time.
There have actually been some news articles in Finnish news sites about how this situation has changed the lives of pets, and not just for the better. It's really important for them to get enough sleep. Tiredness leads to stress which can lead to multiple other problems.

Fortunately I think most people realize that animals need their own space at times, but still, a lot of animals might not wanna take the rest they usually have when their slaves are in the house.

Dogs are the best type of people.

I sadly don't have a dog anymore, but I love watching all the pics of pups (and cats and other animals) in here. Enjoy your time with your buddies, Era.

No chance of this fucker not getting enough sleep:

OP your dog looks a lot like one of mine! Mine looks smaller, though. He's about 10 lbs.

And I agree about appreciating them more. I've been working from home for a few weeks now and it makes me realize how close we are and how much I love them.

Those are some cute dogs.

Unfortunately, our family dog has taken a turn for the worse in the last week and may need to be put down.

In other news, our family has an unofficially adopted wild neighborhood rabbit in our backyard, just in time for Easter. Honestly thought about escorting the rabbit outfront last week, but I've changed my stance given our dogs health condition, I need something positive to latch onto.

Sorry to steal the good and uplifting posts, just needed to post something, vent and console my feelings in my own way. I don't have a good picture of the rabbit, I'll try to get one soon.

The cats are loving it, they chill with us all day, sleeping on the bed, while we work. But I think this is what they do normally. I just like to pretend they are providing emotional support.

Mine is wondering why I'm home all day but not playing with her. Still lots of snow on the ground outside, but the sun is finally shining here in Alaska and both animals are taking advantage.

My guy was always happiest on my days off. He turned to velcro and just loved being with me no matter what I was doing. He would have loved these quarantine times.

My Cat Carlos has taken up an old habit of sleeping in the bedroom for some hours a day. Thinking he is starting to get a bit tired of having me around all the time. On the other hand he gets some more treats, so he hasn't attempted murder yet.

This has been my house lately. Taking the time to introduce Ivy (dog) to Shadow (skunk). It's interesting.
