I had never seen that puppy character until I got Smash Ultimate, having skipped a few Nintendo generations. I am surprised it's such a popular franchise, I had hardly ever heard of it while FF7 seems ubiquitous.

Until Smash, I wouldn't have been able to identify Cloud. There are so many JRPGs and anime that I wouldn't have been able to say where he was from. I knew of FF7 but that's about it.

That's a fun idea for a thread; Cyberpunk feels like it will outsell FF7 to me, but we don't have sales history to back up that idea. Cyberpunk ain't the Witcher! Who knows how it's gonna sell! Probably a lot. Maybe more than FF7.

But also the minute that thread gets made, Cyberpunk is going to end up getting delayed out of April. Or FF7 will get another delay.

Well! This thread's kinda pointless, now, but I do still intend to keep track of which, between AC and FF7, outsells the other in the long term.

I mean March also has Fairy Tail, One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, Doom and a few others
Oh absolutely, no doubt about the quality of them. Nioh's in there, I think Bloodlines 2 is still coming, etc.

It's just that this was a thread about comparing sales numbers and there's a non-zero chance that, lifetime, Animal Crossing might outsell any 5 of those titles put together

I know multiple people who are waiting until the last minute to build PCs just to play Cyberpunk on them. They're trying to make sure that they are on the bleeding edge on release date. I've seen a few folks underselling Cyberpunk's hype and overselling FF7R's hype by comparison. Cyberpunk is going to be a monstrous title, unless it reviews extremely poorly.

Oh Cyberpunk's gonna be huge, it's just difficult to gauge how huge. We'll find out, I guess!

And as a point of comparison, there was a period of time where AC and FF7 were effectively tied in the poll of this thread. People have real high expectations for FF7 Part 1, apparently

Hooray let's debate which of two totally unrelated games with different target audiences will sell more as if they're going head to head

I think AC will outsell FF, for the record, but I don't think that there is a significant amount of gamers out there that are going "shucks, I would have bought FF this month but AC just came out so I guess I'm skipping it"

As there is no longer a planned "massacre" between anthropomorphic talking animals and Red XIII, I am electing to lock this thread.
