Sure but Disney's not the sole arbiter of whether or not SNES Aladdin can or cannot be reissued, and I don't think anyone thinks or has argued that Disney are the bottleneck keeping it from being on this collection.

Publishing contracts can be a wrinkle, sure, but publishing rights always default to the copyright holder after some time, and Aladdin SNES is more than two decades old.

Capcom put it out again for GBA and they've not given any indication that they no longer own it, so I tend to think it's simply a case of the publisher not being able to afford, or simply being denied, the license from Capcom.

I also suspect they're gambling on the collection selling fine without it, and they're probably right.

I know this is a multiplatform release, but maybe SNES Aladdin is not in here because it will be part of the NSO - SNES service?

🤷

Well, the GBA port is co-owned by Capcom and Disney, but all of the legal info pertaining to the SNES original says it's the sole property of Disney.

To be clear, I don't discount the possibility there is a lingering contractual hurdle preventing its inclusion in the collection. But other than its absence, there's nothing to indicate that's the case.

I'd love to see your bizarre take on Goldeneye's rights, too. Because you seem to make things way simpler than reality.

The Bond IP is owned by Danjaq; ownership of the N64 game is split between Rare (i.e. MS) and Nintendo; the 2007 remake is owned by Danjaq, although Acti owns the underlying source code.

is it called the Virgin Interactive collection or Disney Classic Games Aladdin and the Lion King?
It's the content of the collection telling otherwise? The Game Gear/Master System version of Aladdin wasn't made by Virgin and isn't included either.

It's like asking for Mickey Mania or Pinocchio in Disney Afternoon Collection which is just a Capcom collection.

I wonder if the BARRY code only works on Switch because it's the only system with B A R and Y buttons.

When this thread was created we knew it was a Lion King and Aladdin collection and nothing more. So yeah it's normal to assume the snes version was in it. Also if i understand correctly this is a Disney initiative so I was expecting their games to be in it regardless of the devs.

No OT for this? I got it last night for Switch. Already beat Aladdin 4 times lol. What a great, great game.

The CES demo version is interesting because it's so bad. The sword combat is awful. It's also surprisingly unfinished. The pot throwing enemy isn't even colored, there's floors and platforms that are invisible, and the inside the lamp stage is TOTALLY different. It's definitely a neat addition.

I played the Final Cut this morning and besides the already reported on differences I noticed a checkpoint in Escape the cave that wasn't there before.

I'd like to see a comparison between the original Aladdin and this updated version.

Still really bummed that there's no SNES Aladdin in this bundle. Really just because that's the one I grew up with. And I played Aladdin way more than The Lion King (which I did enjoy in its own regard at the time as well.)

Saw thus up on the store, gave it a look see since both were great games.

30 bucks for emulated rims.

Laughed and cruised pornhub for bbw creampies instead.

Was SNES Lion King's music always so muffled? I assume that's because it's more sample based. I much prefer the crisp MD version.

edit: This is the Switch version.

Whoa, I didn't know about that Final Cut version of Aladdin. As someone that was going to skip the collection since Aladdin SNES wasn't present for whatever reason that was, I might actually grab this now. I love when re-releases actually implement stuff like this. (i.e. the mobile Sonic ports, certain titles in M2's legacy re-releases on 3DS & Switch, etc.)

Had no idea this existed.... I loved playing these games as a kid at my cousin's.
Will probably get them for Switch one day for the nostalgia factor.
