I think they are gonna keep BotW 2 close to their chest and reveal it around the same time as the Switch Pro.

It did happen with the original BotW. We got that teaser at E3 2014, then the first early gameplay look was at the following TGA. They seem to like having Zelda there when it's possible; Meelow even missed The Champions' Ballad reveal/shadow drop (TGA 2017).

I wouldn't be shocked to see it, especially if it releases by summer, but I'm not counting on that right now.
Yeah, in the same year. That's why I said that if they had shown this year already, it would be more likely. I think, because of the time we've been without updates about the game, the next time they show us it will be on their own event. The game is a big deal and I believe they want to give the game the spotlight in a Direct the first time it's shown for real.

Maybe, although...

BotW2 will have its re-reveal alongside a switch pro, and be a marquee game for it - touting whatever sort of enhancements the pro is capable of. So we will see it when Nintendo decides to unveil the pro.

I've also been thinking this is a possibility for a while now. That would explain the radio silence.

Maybe they announce DLC for Age of Calamity instead.

We need a poll, OP!

I'm really split on it. I'm not expecting it, since it'd probably make more sense for a late-winter/early Spring re-reveal, but I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up, either!

I suppose we won't need to suffer long.

Unlikely. BotW 2 is one of Nintendo's biggest and most important games, and they're more than likely going to want to blow the lid off of it on their own terms.

Not ruling it out completely, just saying...don't bet a ton of money on it being there.

You will probably see a trailer starting.. see Link... Zelda.. and get super exited thinking it's botw2 and then realize they are showing AoC DLC instead.

I highly doubt that we will see BotW2 at TGAs. This seems to be too big for this show. In the last years, Nintendo always announced small or mid-tier games at that event (MUA3, BD2 etc.), so I dont see presenting them one of the biggest and most wanted games overall there for the first time (if you exclude this small teaser from E3 2019).

I'm pretty sure Metroid Prime Trilogy is Nintendo's next announcement because I finally stopped waiting and just started playing the Wii version of Metroid Prime 2. I should be done in another week or two so expect an announcement shortly after that.

I don't have my hopes up because I'm going to go full black out, the only thing that matters to me now is the release date. But I actually do think it has a high chance of happening mostly because this winters big Nintendo title is Hyrule Warriors and I assume they'll want to feed its hype machine.

I want it to be a montage of weapons breaking and shrine missions followed by a 2 minute video of Doug Bowser saying "AHHHH AHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHH".

If they have been dropping bombs randomly on twitter the last few months, why not at TGA?

They're better off saving their load for E3 next year and have an insane lineup there. They do not need to sell anything at the GA.

I'd give it maybe a 10% chance, though I still think it's more likely to be shown off early next year perhaps even in a January direct .

Not when Age of Calamity has just released and has a high potential for DLC, they aren't going to overshadow that game so quickly

My heart already stopped for a moment when glancing at the thread title, thought it would be a leak or something for a second lol. So incredibly thirsty for new info and material.

Regarding if it is likely to happen: I really don't know, Nintendo has become too unpredictable for stuff like this, but definitely keeping my fingers crossed.

Sometimes I forget this game exists and then I'm reminded again that it's been 1.5 years since its announcement. *Sigh* someday the game will be shown, someday...
and then finally my avatar can be changed!

I don't think we'll see it. Nintendo's thing these days is usually not to start the marketing cycle until like 3 or 4 months from release and that doesn't tie in with when BOTW2 is probably coming out.

I'd say we'll see it again at E3 (if Nintendo's there, at around that time if they're not) and then the marketing will lead into a November release.

Negative chances this is happening.
They better keep it for the non existent january Direct that will come in August or something.

Maybe a teaser. It's been over a year since we've seen anything which is crazy, at least with BotW we got snippets every once and a while.

Definitely a chance as a big "one more thing" announcement.

Then again, Doug Bowser doesn't seem to have the same relationship with Geoff as Reggie did. Last year we didn't even get anything from Nintendo directly, just No More Heroes 3 (from Grasshopper) and Bravely Default 2 (from Square-Enix). That said I think Nintendo is publishing both games?

I think Nintendo will quietly let this year end, let Sony and Microsoft have their moment, and will focus on marketing and promoting heavily in 2021. Meaning, they could show BOTW2 if they wanted to, but they'll wait until it's on their terms.

I don't know why, but I feel like we're not getting major Nintendo announcements until after the new year.

At this point I don't know what to expect. I still think BotW2 was originally meant to be the big holiday game for this year, but Covid screwed everything up. And with rumors still of a new Switch Pro or whatever you want to call it which might be in the first half 2021 or it might be in the second half, I feel like they'll want to tie to that release as well. Nintendo isn't above holding onto Zelda even if its finished to maximize its impact alongside hardware.

Holiday 2021 seems like forever though, that's nearly 5 years after BotW, which is a massive amount of time for a direct sequel that's using the same engine, assets and ostensibly from what we know the same map. The fact that it's not already out and we're close to 4 years kind of blows my mind.
