Fascinating that Polygon and Eurogamer basically sit exactly opposite on the violence/meaning issue. Polygon says they do nothing with it and it's misery porn; EG says, To call this misery porn is a misunderstanding. Very interesting.
Anyone that expected anything below 90 was insane. But 93-94, which the game might end with,it's actually quite low for this game and the hype built around it.
Not everything has to be create-your-own-story with dialogue wheel and all that shite. I wanna see what story ND wants to tell instead of them trying to create an illusion that my story is unique and different from all the rest.Seems like the one constant is that the player has no agency over their character.. I still think ND would be better at making movies than games.
Kinda lower than expected, but still great scores.
Still think they never should've made a sequel haha
Kinda disappointed that the story seems to be bloated :(
Guess they really needed Bruce Straley to rope Druckmann in lol
That's valid criticism, but Naughty Dog games are not choice driven. They are heavily directed experiences, using gameplay and cinematic techniques to tell a story. That's a storytelling style that isn't inferiour to more choice driven ones imo, it's just a different creative choice.Seems like the Gamespot review highlights some of the complaints I had about the first game. That all the really character developing stuff is out of the players control and that cutscenes forces these rather shocking actions on the player. It's how Naughty Dog always handles their game design and I'm glad there are more people seeing an issue with it. Violence will ALWAYS be more impactful if there is an actual choice to avoid it at all times. Trying to sneak pastand spare everyone in gameplay sequences feels pointless if the characters are gonna act out anyway in-between those sequences.
How are literally all of these games exclusive to something.
That's minority opinion, clearly. Decide for yourself, please.Kinda disappointed that the story seems to be bloated :(

Unless you have issues with the content of their review, getting mad that an outlet is allowed on MC because they gave some games lower scores than others is stupid. Why are GamingBible whatever that is, allowed on MC? They reviewed this and FF7 at 70 and Persona 5 Royal at 100.
Fuck sake.
These threads never fail to deliver stupid takes. God bless them.Anyone that expected anything below 90 was insane. But 93-94, which the game might end with,it's actually quite low for this game and the hype built around it.
Even when every game they release is a raving success? Nah. Naughty Dog is exactly where they should be.

Seems like all the less than 10 reviews are people who are unsure on how they feel about the game.
Surely shouldn't be allowed to review it then...
Did we not just have people buying up all the toilet paper and try to profit from it? Do we not have millions of people protesting because cops all over the world are killing black folks and everybody else is just enabling it? What a tone deaf comment for the reviewer to make IMO.
Breh can't hide his agendaThe game is getting so many 10/10s and this is your take without even playing the game?
ND has said it's their biggest game yet.
You know it's possible it's just not his cup of tea?I skipped through his review and he evokes comparisions to the new star wars trilogy and the 8th season of game of thrones.
He feeds a certain userbase that wanted to hate the game because of the leaks. Sad to see that he can't be more professional.
Nobody needs to like the game but the framing of his review alone look like big red flags for me.
ya i see it now, ty ✌
What take? Are people really this insecure lolThe game is getting so many 10/10s and this is your take without even playing the game?
No. Being a game does not mean that you have to be in control of the story. Sometimes it's about partaking in actions that you would never see yourself doing in real life.Seems like the one constant, even in the good reviews, is that the player has no agency over the characters.. I still think ND would be a better movie studio but that's just me.
