Yeah, Black Roses high points are pretty much the low-budget effects. I also think that the lead character is almost 40 playing a high schooler.

It really was an awesome entrance. I wasn't expecting the transition to them being on the set already; pretty fun. They seem really fun; haven't heard of them before but I may check out their show.
lol It's true. My friend picked Black Roses and I was excited to watch because I thought it was Trick r Treat. Which I still haven't seen.
Edit: this happened in 2021. lol.
Watch it, Trick r Treat is a fun time. My SO introduced it to me years back and it became a favorite.
The Boulet's seem like they were heavily influenced by John Waters and Divine.

I had almost that exact experience when I was 13 years old in 1993.
Went to rent Ghoulies, it was out. The wanted Maniac Cop, it was out. So I settled on Black Roses.
Really suggest checking out the show. The practical effects are phenomenal.
They list Classic Monster movies as their general aesthetic influences.
Kinda where I'm at. It's not boring & I'm still with it. But it's actively dumb. I can't help but think it'd be infinitely better if Tom Atkins was playing the teacher.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt like the teacher was dollar store version of Tom Atkins
I really need to make some time for Dragula. Really enjoying these segment with the Boulet Brothers.
It's a fun watch! Highly recommend it.

Everyone in this movie is like mid thirties. Reminds me of Slaughter High a little bit.
