I needed to post these somewhere — I can't keep all this COMFINESS to myself!

Here's a (non-comprehensive) sampling of some handsomely remade rooms from the remake... now rich in detail that I could've only imagined as a kid playing the GBC game.

We had a thread on beds in FFVII, so please indulge me here, lol. What do YOU consider the coziest place on Koholint Island? :-3

Grezzo's graphic design prowess has been severely underrated since Ocarina of Time 3D and its lighting controversy. The development team there does such an incredible job of rejuvenating old worlds with a new graphical light that I'm glad you made this thread to highlight it Neiteio.

That's without mentioning the gorgeous visual design in Ever Oasis.

I have yet to get the game, but from what I've seen Link's Awakening on Switch is one of the most beautiful games on any console to date. it is a gorgeous game.

Finally some quality era content.

Was my first time through and I def agree. The remake team did an excellent job. Especially loved the crane mini quest putting the statues in each of the houses of the main town. So much charm.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 taught us that a simple ceramic pot will do just dandy as a toilet for collecting poop... erm, I mean "night soil." So I guess those pots Link goes around chucking are full of feces.

I'm a sucker for very detailed interior sets. If I had to work in the game industry at any time, I would want to the one who designed all the pre-rendered backgrounds in Square PS1 RPGs.

My favorite part of Uncharted 4 was the veeeeeeeeery end when you get to explore Nate and Elena's beach house.

Here Naughty Dog is trying to go all Oscar on us with TLOU2, and all I want is Naughty Dog Happy Home Designer.

You can tell whoever was designing these just went all out because they could, the level of detail is totally unnecessary.

Ah, I know what ya mean! So snug!

I don't have a screenshot, but I dig the toys in the Quadruplets' house. So much detail! Makes me wanna set up a diorama of my own.
I love their house, but because I am a crazy person I refuse to take a screenshot of it until I get the figurines for the pedestals there

I like that they put so much detail into the interiors that you can more or less pinpoint what kind of material that you'd use in real life to replicate it for your own diorama. Nintendo's always been really good about that across other series like Yoshi, Kirby and Pikmin, but this remake takes it to a whole new level altogether. I'm so thrilled that one of my favorite games ever made got such a loving remake from top to bottom.

Adding so much detail to each home is a nice way to flesh out these classic characters without actually adding any new dialogue — this remake being pretty faithful to the original and all. You can look at stuff like the heart-shaped plants at Crazy Tracy's home or the baby mobile over Chef Bear's bed, and get a sense of their personality.

Did you see the guy in the OT pointing out how Crazy Tracy is totally a Great Fairy just living in a house? If that attention to detail was intentional I'm totally floored.

Check out how there are four pillows in the hammock in the rabbits' home — and there are four rabbits in Animal Village. Thoughtful!

Also if you can just look past the fact this horrifying monster is trying to eat you, these shots are kinda cozy with their lighting, and they're technically interior shots, so hey

Sadly, some people can only look at such improvements and complain that they changed the ineffable atmosphere [that they were used to.]

D'aww, lol

I wish I could smell that home, bet it smells delish!

Old Man Ulrira has a tasty-looking pot of stew cooking too, over the hearth

And Mr. Write brewed tea so he can stay up writing letters to goats

I think the fact that every house has plants grouwing, and they're all different, is what really puts the coziness over the top. It's so great, I'd love to live in any of those houses.

I have not bought it yet but the art in this game is so well done.

Can't think of another game that looks like it.

The way they just float in the abyss is so unappealing to me. Why couldn't they just take up the entire screen?

There was a lighting controversy?
Absolutely. Plenty of people both on the old place and other gaming forums thought the color palette for both Ocarina 3D and Majora 3D were too light and betrayed the original atmosphere of the games as they were presented on Nintendo 64.

They're wrong, of course, but it was absolutely something that stirred about for quite a while.

Oh yes, I do remember that. They preferred the muddy atmosphere of 240p textures. Still, if they ever remade OOT on Switch, perhaps they would dial down the vibrancy and add a little more smoke, atmosphere, and harsh lighting?

I loved OOT3D and MM3D.

Yeah its pretty damn nice. PS1 games with pre rendered backgrounds tended to evoke the same feeling. I hope this can be a bit of a comeback trend because I really love it
