Awesome! So original series movies, Zeta and ZZ original episodes then CCA and I should be good? Is the Origin adaptation worth watching?

The MSG trilogy is perfect and anything referenced in CCA will use this as the basis. It's commonly viewed as the canonical way that things happened.
The necessarily rushed nature of things regarding Ramba and Garma really sours me on certain segments of the first and second movies.
So is Unicorn canon or not? I wouldn't be upset if Narrative isn't canon, but if Unicorn isn't that feels pretty bad.

Agreed. I think the series is definitely worth watching for stuff like that, but for people who are stressing about "gotta watch it all" the movie trilogy hits all the necessary plot points to get what's needed for future installments.
Canonicity is something you shouldn't worry too much about when it comes to Gundam. Sunrise themselves don't. It's really not important.
With Thunderbolt I've always remember it being non-canon but I don't remember why. If I had to guess it would be Federation having fancy mobile suits when/where they shouldn't, but that is the case for a lot of other shows, games, etc. too. And I still haven't seen the second season/movie. I need to fix that.
I'll never get tired of 0079 side-stories and finding out that, while the Amuro was slumming it in the RX-78, playing the most pivotal role in the most important battles of the One Year War, Somedude Mangaguy was rocking a brand new experimental RXXX Super Duper Gundam with psycommu and shit and fighting some obscure battles in some backwater no one remembers. With Thunderbolt I've always remember it being non-canon but I don't remember why. Origin I have no idea why. I don't remember anything conflicting jumping out to me.
And they are always "testing it for those whitebase newtypes" but trash it in the process :PI'll never get tired of 0079 side-stories and finding out that, while the Amuro was slumming it in the RX-78, playing the most pivotal role in the most important battles of the One Year War, Somedude Mangaguy was rocking a brand new experimental RXXX Super Duper Gundam with psycommu and shit and fighting some obscure battles in some backwater no one remembers.
Yeah Alex in 0080 seemed like a believable level of an advanced prototype for that time and the circumstances of why it never got to the actual battlefield were also decently believable to me.And they are always "testing it for those whitebase newtypes" but trash it in the process :P
Things were mostly believable until 08th came out I guess. Ground Gundams and GMs and Destinys and whatever all over the place after that.
And actually before I posted I went back to check the scene where the GMs in Jaburo were seen for the first time thinking the Zeon soldiers made a big deal about it, and really they don't. Actually imply that they expect there is more out there, so maybe the rule in my head of "no feddie ms pre-jaburo" is mistaken. Though most of the other OYW content takes place in those November-December later stages anyway.Yeah Alex in 0080 seemed like a believable level of an advanced prototype for that time and the circumstances of why it never got to the actual battlefield were also decently believable to me.
08th MS Team Gundams are also alright, because they were inferior to RX-78.
Everything else just feels ridiculous. Like, they are getting full on battle deployment in some battles no one cares about while Amuro is burning out rickety 78's joints through his Newtypeness.
No, this is down to a mistranslated interview. Fans go crazy with what is and is not canon, but Sunrise's view is if it is animated-it's canon. For the most part. A lot of shit like CrossWar and some of the MG manuals are starting to reference Gundam:The Origin manga events and timelines, like Amuro being referenced as being Mexican born, whereas in the movie trilogy he is Canadian and in the OG TV series Japanese. But then you see like in the Hathaway preview material certain series not being referenced. It's all very nebulous and trying to approach a unified Gundam canon is never going to satisfying as it isn't codified. With Thunderbolt I've always remember it being non-canon but I don't remember why. This. I can't stop thinking about the Hong Kong night battle. New high in Gundam scenes for me.I won't talk about the actual story but the animation is… damn.
The leap is not too too surprising considering it was made ~5 years after the first series with 4 other shows under Tomino's belt. I do prefer MSG's animation, but maybe I just like the incongruous cartoony Yasuhiko takes.
It's an adaptation of a novel that most people would not have read regardless of how old it is. The adaptation is also significantly altered because it is a sequel to CCA the movie rather than the alternate novel story. There's no reason to hold back on the story, it's 30 years old. It's like trying to avoid spoilers for the new LotR series.

are they sure they are definitely the right video versions?Mine finally shipped. And I saw the new cases they come in online and...man I don't like them.
I'll probably swap the new discs into the old cases and keep those on my Gundam bluray shelf, and stuff the new cases with the old discs back into the Ultra box.
EDIT: Here's the image I saw of the new cases

Idk, I just remember reading summaries of Hathaway when I was a kid on like Angelfire sites and on Gundam.com, G Gen tells the whole story and is available in English and the ending is one of the most infamous in the entire franchise.
For new content I generally agree, but nothing about this is new, it just seems ridiculous to censor discussion on something that has been being discussed in the fandom for decades all of a sudden.
I'm still bitter Tequila Gundam didn't get a kit of its builder versionI guess but it still seems asinine. Like my general rule of thumb is that the onus is on the spoiler averse. But I mean if it's what you guys want, sure.
In other news, has everyone seen the new Breaker Battalogue stuff? New anime hitting online later this year and the kits are fucking wild looking.
Obari gets to eat and Bandai sells more toys. Win win!In other news, has everyone seen the new Breaker Battalogue stuff? New anime hitting online later this year and the kits are fucking wild looking.
This. I can't stop thinking about the Hong Kong night battle. New high in Gundam scenes for me.
Maybe he watched Godzilla vs Kong instead?Uh, Hong Kong wasn't in this. That battle (and the majority of the film for that matter) took place in Davao, which is in the Phillipines.
It's just an anime that links Breaker and the Gunpla Warfare mobile game story as the key unit is an upgrade of the main from Gunpla Warfare. You'll even be able to watch the episodes in Gunpla Warfare when they come out.I sure hope the game is more like Gundam Breaker 3 and less like New Gundam Breaker.
Shout out to MS Saga. Loved that little RPG and the ability to customize my mobile suits.I just want another game that's an adventure campaign at its core like the PS2 titles and... anything else I might have missed.
It's a fun one but those character designs thoooo... lmaoShout out to MS Saga. Loved that little RPG and the ability to customize my mobile suits.
Yes, anything please. I'm playing through the campaigns in GGen for Rise from the Ashes, Zeonic Front, etc. and it makes me miss them so much.I just want another game that's an adventure campaign at its core like the PS2 titles and... anything else I might have missed.
I remember one of if not the first PS4 conference/show/direct thing had a CG RX-78 and said "Gundam PS4 Coming Soon" or whatever and I was super excited but I guess that just turned out to be Breaker or VS or something.PS3 had Battlefield Record UC 0081, the god-tier Unicorn and Side Stories. The PS4 had nothing.
As much as I like Breaker, I just want another single player action game that isn't Breaker.

Haha you're right, been rewatching Zeta and keep saying Hong Kong for some reason lately. Even had someone point it out to me that it was in the Philippines weeks ago, derp.Uh, Hong Kong wasn't in this. I miss original Gundam titles like that. Feels like Bandai Namco is just afraid to try these days.Shout out to MS Saga. Loved that little RPG and the ability to customize my mobile suits.
