The Guardian ranks every Studio Ghibli film

Earthsea in the top 10 is weird, for me that is the bottom of the list, Porco Rosso being towards the bottom seems right to me though. Spirited Away is a bit low but that top 7 is pretty good outside of that.

Also don't know why everyone is getting so heated you can have a different opinion, not everyone has to love and hate the same films.

Oh, I love Howl's, but it's #6 on my Miyazaki-only ranking, so would probably be just outside my top 10 Ghiblis.

Spirited Away is always going to be my top one. Hell, I get nostalgic for it just thinking of that scene on the train with the music and scenery, but most of all, the moment of peace for the protagonist. What a film. Enjoy the others though.

Porco Rosso may not me my favorite, but it's a beautiful film about carrying guilt and finding a way to forgive yourself. The themes aren't as spelled out as in some of Miyazaki's other films, but that doesn't mean they aren't there. Also planes.

The heaven scene is also one of the most beautiful scenes in any Studio Ghibli movie.

Ghibli considers it an official part of their canon and own it outright, so it's a Ghibli film. It's not like they ranked Cagliostro on here, either.

Earthsea should be at the absolute bottom. Whisper and Nausicaa should, at the very least, be higher than Ponyo.
