I think the show is going to use this episode to get rid of most of the redshirts that other main characters care about.

Theon for Sansa.

Tormund and Dolorous Edd for Jon.

Jorah and Missandei for Daenerys (and also Grey Worm).

Gendry for Arya.

Podrick Payne for Brienne and Tyrion.

Gilly for Sam.

Lord Royce and Beric because they're irrelevant at this point.

I'd say Bronn for Jaime but idk if he'll show up there and I don't think Brienne dies at all.

Gendry, Theon and Jorah dying at the end seems like a good triple punch to the heart with Missandei and Gilly dying before that since they're both in the Crypts.

I'm expecting it. I think it'll be the big stinger at the end. The Night King will appear near Bran, but the only person able to get there will be Jaime. The Kingslayer will kill the Night King, showing he's finally as good as he was when he had both hands, but will die from his wounds.

In the end, the guy that tried to kill Bran all those years ago will be the one to save him and Jaime Lannister will die a hero. Shit, he'll have killed two mad kings so they'd best erect a fucking statue somewhere.

My theory is basically: The Crypts are the opposite of safe, right off the bat, a couple of fighters near the crypt (like Edd and Royce) go to help unsuccessfully, then general battle deaths, then Jon on Rhaegal get bopped with Jon dying from the fall, Ghost falls protecting Jon's body until Beric shows up. Afterwards, it's a mad dash to protect Bran and cover escape.

My basic theory is that the battle will kill everyone who no longer serves a plot purpose. The fighters on the main battlefield die first. Starts with Pod to let the audience know that being good/innocent people don't get you plot armour.
I hope I'm wrong about 2 and 3 but I don't see what they would "do" if they survived. Them dying together would be cute, and frankly we aren't ever going to get that ship.
Then we get Jorah with a heroic death to redeem himself to his niece (?) But she keeps fighting and dies anyway.
Then we get the Crypt shenanigans (lets hide from the undead in the place with lots of well-preserved dead bodies, what could possibly go wrong?) and lose Davos, Gilly and Sam (sorry wildlings, that's it for you in this story!)
Royce dies to ensure that Sansa gets the Knights of the Vale under her personal command (Sweetrobin who?). The only way people are escaping the tireless dead is on a horse or a dragon so...
Then Theon dies defending Bran and Ghost dies saving John while he secures Bran on his dragon and they fly off into the sunset.

I hope I'm completely wrong. I'd like to see something completely unexpected, like Dany, Tyrion or Bran getting killed - but I think they've got plot armour until episode 5 at least.
