In the video I'm just doing some basic combat, but I'm also controlling the camera between its 3 modes, default 3rd person follow, TargetLook and right-stick orbit. They all interpolate smoothly so you can have quite a bit of useful situational awareness from using it. Normally when I dogfight It gets a bit more hectic, but toned it down for the video. ;)

Also this is a placeholder mission, spawning a fairly simple X vs X amount of defenders and attackers.

You can also spot stuff and debris falling off from the larger and smaller airships, some of this is just debris, bits'n bobs falling off from the explosive splash damage, but you can also target specific sub targets and destroy them and have the remains drop, such as turrets or engine parts. Additionally these have a critical hit chance of exploding themselves upon destruction, causing damage to the parent ship.
On rare occasions you can actually have a cascade of exploding sub components.

Enfin, a look at the harder action , for the people that felt the trailer was a bit too light on it.;)

Looks good in 60fps. Hopefully it stays that way on console.

This is what I imagined a remake of the old Amiga Agony game would look like. Also a dash of Panzer Dragoon.

Game looks great and it's awesome to have you here giving udpates!!!

Thanks man, Too be honest It's what I enjoyed very much from my modding days (Moonpath to elsweyr, for skyrim, if anyone still remembers that), the fact that you could have a conversation with your players..

So this dev cycle is a little less public(with modding anyone could play the work in progress) that's sadly not practical now. But I do enjoy sharing and conversing pre-release about features and gameplay and whatnot.

So glad to be here.

falconeerdev Any hope of a photomode for the final release?
[/QUOTE]

It's a given, It's just super enjoyable, especially in a high action combat moment, pause it,, zoom around, watching the fireworks go off.

I've got some basic features for photomode now, the controls are still a bit wonky, as they extrapolate from your actual game cam, But you got all axis of movement, FOV and nightcycle control. That will all definetly be in the final build for users to enjoy and share from. Anything on top of that I can't confirm right now.

Hi Everyone here are some updates from development. True content creation has now started with proper missions, battlemaps and more varied combat situations and goals such as escorting battleships into combat. Love to hear what you think, also is this an appropriate format for intermittent updates.

We're working on that as we speak, I'd like as much voice as possible, but it brings with a load of complications, especially as unlike say a 3rd person action adventure, the cast here is a lot more diverse, as in rpg territory.

But Battlemaps specifcally are the ideal sequences to be voices, so those seem very very likely.

Expect more news on this in the near future, with some cool announcements.

Hi everyone another update:

Just a reminder the Falconeer is now on steam, wishlist if you like what you see, and you are tangibly helping with bringing the game forward!

Development update:

The focus the last couple of weeks has still been on improving the content variations , specifically through ship combat. So here are some screens of that:
EOQ_caFXkAUQNAd

EOZvgPOXUAA-B8O

There are 4 main factions, and they have their own vessels, but also their own level of technology. (technology isn't a linear progression in this world).
it's all late sail/early steam era. With one dreadnaught playing a big role in the story, ushering in a new age. I kinda dig historical ships;)

EOhRpoaX0AEL8l6

EOhRpofX4AA4LFs

The Mancer order is the faction controlling knowledge and technology, they have a fairly unorthodox ideology. Their play is to control kings and warlords by handing out permits and tools for specific technologies, while keeping the dangerous stuff hidden away in their vaults. Their ships are more mythical, and designed to inspire fear of technology as much as they are powerful in itself.
EOhRpoWWsAICD-b

When put together complex battles are a possibility, as well as co-opting the surface vessel code for some cool sea-monsters!

That covers the last 2 weeks with the exception of the exciting news that The Falconeer is going to be playable at PAX East!

hope to see some of you there! Shipping up to Boston!

AS a PC main with a pinch of Switch guy, I love it when they announce games coming to XB1 (and PC) or coming to PS4 (and PC). :)

This looks very nice! I'm gonna hit up YouTube to see some more footage.

you can start with the official trailer:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94dIpbxlj6A&feature=youtu.be

or my dev channel, which has a smattering of development snippets: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSqvI3YQEeLRGJUqx22S3-A?view_as=subscriber

but that comes with the caveat that there are also a lot of very old video's on there, that might not look as polished as it does now ;)

yeh I understand that, In this case microsoft was instrumental in making this possible, so I'm really grateful for that. That said I love switch as well, and sometimes good things come with time. ;)

This... looks really cool.

I know it's not space, but the dogfighting gave me a bit of a Freelancer vibe (which is always a good thing-that game had the most intuitive space combat interface ever.)

I only heard about this through the recent Digital Foundry focus piece, and it looks and sounds brilliant. I can't wait to play this.

Really looking forward to this. It's gorgeous and I've been itching for a more arcadey flight game lately.

HI everyone another update!

I have been working on lots of things, but one particularly nice one where some bigger "towns" to flesh out the world
EQXuFzsWsAME6S8

here's a snippet of that in flight

Also quite important is some new moves to improve the bird's agility , it includes an emergency dive and airbrake.

And for this interested I have a long history with skyrim modding, and the Nexus mods did an interview on that topic and the journey to The Falconeer:

And a litte WIP work on unlocking lesser shrines:

See you at PAX!
