The Expanse - Season 3 - “It's a Legitimate Salvage”

This show should be so much bigger.
It's got everything GoT has, from the political machinations to the personal intrigue, a supernatural threat, a well realised and believable world (with made up creole even) , solid CGI, well cast, well acted, strong cinematography.
Maybe people will realise this now that GoT will be over.

I totally agree that this show is far superior !
We've gotten sex scenes before. Only thing missing is the dragons, but who knows what lies beyond the gates

It will have true simultaneous international release now which should help it a lot.
Maybe the general population isn't fond of pure/hard sci-fi?

If fantasy can make it from nerd circles into the mainstream, I believe in The Expanse.
Well yeah, it does have space Jon Snow. It's audience is slightly limited being on SyFy and I guess it depends how much marketing Amazon now throw behind the series. I don't really want the pressure that GoT had on this series though, I'm happy just for it to keep going and get to the end properly.

I just wanted to note this scene where Bobbie is stuffing her face in the background of an important diplomatic meeting is the moment I fell in love:
Even this scene along shows just how closely they are paying attention to the small details in the show. Bobbie is from Mars, a place where resources are going to be at a premium, and as a result they can't spend those valuable resources on relatively non-essential, non-nutritionally packed foods like Cucumbers. If they are on Mars, they are going to be prohibitively expensive because they have to use up their valuable resources or ship the foods from Earth, which is also dealing with its own overpopulation issues which is causing it to spend more time, money and energy growing more nutritional foods to feed their 30B+ Population.
So that cucumber is literally going to be a luxury to her, a taste she has never experienced before, and that is going to be enough to cause her such joy.
So Star Trek: Picard is coming to Amazon Prime in all markets outside of the US and Canada. That's a lot of markets. I'm beginning to promote The Expanse to Star Trek fans wondering if there will be more worth watching with new Prime memberships. I plan to launch a larger-scale awareness campaign sometime in the next couple of months.

Really? I thought Picard would land on Netflix outside US, much like Discovery.
Right, I forgot to mention this in the Got comparison. The Expanse has book authors that actually managed to maintain a strong writing pace and finish their saga.
Yeah, so did I. It's tough to say what the deal is here -- the best guess I've seen around the block is that Amazon simply outbid them. There's always the chance Netflix isn't happy enough with the Discovery deal to invest in another Star Trek but most folks seem to think that's unlikely given its sky high social media impression ratings. Of course, that's only ever one piece of the puzzle. But shrug.
That's amazing! I'm happy we finally have officially licensed Merch. That's something that the show has been seriously lacking since its inception.

Now that Game of Thrones is over we must scream from rooftops that The Expanse is a worthy replacement (or worthier, depending on one's thoughts of season 8 of Game of Thrones :P )
Just an FYI for fellow Belters: I asked if it's cool to create a full-time OT for this show and my wish has been granted! I'm gonna try to make it spiffy so I'm enlisting one of my close friends for help with the images.
With SDCC coming and The Expanse confirmed to have a big presence, we'll likely have need for such a thread soon. Hopefully we'll get a release date for season 4! And when season 4 premieres we can see about editing the thread title and imagery a bit to reflect it. :)
Not sure when exactly this will be going up but sometime within the next few weeks is a safe bet!

I think it's a great idea to make a new thread for ongoing use if there's news coming from Comic-Con and elsewhere.

Are there any Amazon shows where they don't drop the whole season at once? If season 4 all drops at once it'll be difficult to make it last a week.
I want news on the last book. Book 8 was best of the last few.

Since I won't have the show's overall OT up for several more days I'm putting this news here for now! Amazon has announced its SDCC lineup... including our favorite crew!

The new OT ought to be up within the next couple of days! I'll DM you when it's up but I wanted to let y'all know it's right around the corner.
By the way, am I posting it in the Hangouts category? Or in the main EtcetEra category? I figure the former but it doesn't hurt to ask.
I believe the general rule of thumb is: EtcetEra when its on-season or about a given season, Hangouts when its Off-season, or a more "Everything The Expanse" type thread.
At the very least all TV Shows from Walking Dead, The 100 to Game of Thrones and just about every Anime-series OT just goes to EtcetEra because thats where all the people are looking and you'll want to both draw in the casual viewers into the thread, as well as remind non-viewers that the show exists.
