So fucking excited. I'm squeezing in a highlights run through before it starts. Began last night and I've yet to skip anything lol. Magnificent sci fi.

Some one remind me why holden gets to keep his stolen MCR Corvette
It's explained in the books a bit more.

They basically avoid having to address that they stole legitimately salvaged the ship until it gets space clamped at the start of book 3 (or half way through season 3, just before they head to the ring). The reason they let the documentary crew on the ship at this point is because they say they'll pay to get the ship unclamped. Then everything goes to shit and after people escape the ring, Anna's persuades her rich friend Tilly to buy the Roci for Holden so he can take Clarissa to where she can get a fair trial

There might be a few details I misremember but it pretty much explains the Roci situation.

Saw the first three seasons in the past 2 months and now I'm unable to watch this until the 20th lol. I can't wait to be able to discuss this though

The ship was a salvage, while the Martian government may not recognise it, it was a Martian who transferred command of the ship to the crew. So it's rightfully their ship, even if Mars doesn't know about it.

Regardless Holden is too big of a name and too politically linked to go after for a mere frigate.

I'm trying to rewatch before the new season drops, and I think I'm enjoying it more than the first few times. It's just so good. It's nice to have a sci-fi show that's this ambitious.

Jeff Bezos is a suspect operator to put it lightly but I am so glad this is one of his favorite shows and he pushed the acquisition through. Hope it goes on for many more seasons as it is my favorite SciFi show after Deep Space 9.

Would really rather this was weekly instead of all at once, but glad it is continuing anyways. (Yes, I know I could watch it weekly, and there will be zero talk about it ten weeks from now, and zero talk about the majority of the episodes, let's skip the argument)

very very LTTP, how come I never heard of this?
It was kind of hidden away on Syfy (and Netflix internationally). Syfy didn't have the streaming rights and it didn't have the kind of viewing numbers to justify them keeping it going so they cancelled it. Amazon stepped in to rescue it.

It's always had really good word of mouth on various techy sites, but that's a narrow enough niche that it would have been easy enough to miss.

Definitely worth a watch, the series is pretty good from the start but gets better (and increases massively in scope) as it goes along.

Awesome. This series just gets better and better.

I also just started the first book and it's quite good too. I'm about halfway through so far and loving it.

Ready for the return of Chrisjen. Her character is so great (really, all the characters are great).

I'll never be able to wrap my head around the licensing of the show originally.
SyFy showed it on TV and had some streaming rights, but it could be purchased on Itunes, google play, Amazon prime and so on, but all of these options were for US only... Europe/rotw had NO option to watch it at all, until almost a year after season premier... Like, who thought that was a good idea, and why would you have shitload of options in the US, but basically prevent any and all ways of watching it for the rest of the world until much later?
It'll never make sense to me, there's no financial incentive to blocking it like that.

Can't wait for this. Running through season 3 now.

The show has been paced kinda odd with big mid-season change ups with new arcs. Wonder if that happens this season too.

Unfortunately she's apparently not in the book this season's based on so they had to invent a storyline for her. Heard in the other thread it's not as well reviewed as other parts of the season.

This is usually dumb licensing conflicts. Completely making this up but something like Netflix got the exclusive RoW rights but also didn't want to spend the money on timely subbing.

That's because each season didn't cover exactly a full book. I personally enjoyed it this way. Makes for more interesting developments since you don't need to stretch to fill or cut stuff to fit it in.

yeah, first book is season 1 and some of season 2, book 2 is rest of season 2 and some of season 3, and book 3 is from around episode 6-7 to the end of season 3, weirdly spaced out, but I thought it worked.

I'm mixed on it. Overall as you said it means they can devote however much time they want to it. But, it does mean seasons aren't neat things, though. Season 2 felt like kind of a shit place to end and starting season 3 felt like you were thrown into the middle of it for example.

Get ready for a wild wide with the books! Fun to compare how the show envisioned characters in contrast to how they act in the book.

I'd rather when all is said and done it just fall together neatly. Most are going to binge if they watch at all.

Midgar, With Love
I thought so too until I read the next book and thought that it was even weaker...
Started the book after that and currently hoping that it gets better again.

That's interesting! Book 5 is often considered the strongest of the bunch or at least among the strongest. Sorry to hear it didn't really click for you.

I'm really interested in seeing how they try to improve this book since it's almost unanimously considered the weakest. You can already see some changed in the trailer that I really like.

Excited. Think I've read up to book 5, but it's been years.

Should be a good weekend of binge watching.
