While true, eventually people will likely stop obsessing over it.
"Obsessing" is a funny term to use when it's likely to cause real, quantifiable damage for the next two quarters, at least.

lol expecting them to give out another $25 in a few days
I bought Apple at $183, but only 5 shares ;__;Bought some Apple two Fridays ago and again this morning. Given the wild swings it's right back to where I bought the first time. I'll take some more at this level.
Recession Time, come on bank your cash
I've had no issue all morning
I love the drive-by posts in here.
I have one share in General Electric that I was given for free.
What shall I do with it?
Wow, it's back at 1970's levels.Yo zoom out on haliburton and look at the max chart: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/HAL/
Bought some index funds. First time in a while where I've invested.
I pulled out of Robinhood last week. Likely going to open an account with Schwab or TD.
Recession can mean many things though depending on time frame. If it is only a quarter or two not a big deal but we will only know until after the fact. The market will know ahead of time though because it will turn upward even before the recession is over.
My puts opened +300% today, then the halt... Only up half that right now :(
Was happy my buy order for VTI filled at 139.50, though realistically it can go lower. I'll keep averaging down.
May take a couple days, depending upon how you have things set up.What is the best place to buy stocks? how long does it take to open an account? asking fora friend.
I would have bought then. Put an order in for 141. Might buy at whatever it ends up at in the evening.
I was eScottTrade. Then then they moved my account to TD. Now I guess I'll get a Schwab account.
Thanks!, I think the funds are probably the best and least stressful way to go.May take a couple days, depending upon how you have things set up.
Plenty of options whether you are into index funds (Vanguard, etc.) or individual funds (eTrade, etc.). But if you are considering it, definitely start the process so they can validate the sources of money and accounts.
Would an etf like schg or schb be a good start if I already have a brokerage account with Schwab?
Thank you. I see the option to reinvest dividends when buying. Looks good so far. Now to just find a time to buy and try not to worry about timing anything.Whichever you choose, change your DRIP settings to roll dividends into buying partial shares so you can compound.
Ruchir Sharma (Morgan Stanley) on CNBC a few minutes ago nailed it, even with the dummies trying to talk over him. Corp Bond can get fucking ugly in a heartbeat, all eyes should be there, don't want to let the zombies out of their cage.
personally i just try to buy an index fund once per month, and in the case of any crazy drops like this one.Thank you. I see the option to reinvest dividends when buying. Looks good so far. Now to just find a time to buy and try not to worry about timing anything.
The President of the USA is melting down. Can we engage circuit breakers on this guy?
Lots of them are already Junk/High Yield, they rely on cheap debt to basically keep things moving, debt will no longer be cheap for them, but I'm sure there will be some facility created to help them refinance, because the fallout can seize things up so fast and really put the clamps on the wider economy. Them = many corps, not just Oil/Energy corps. Can the heavily indebted US fracking industry survive both this and the oil price war? Methinks a shitload of debt is going to hit junk status really, really quick
Gas prices will drop in a week or twoCrude prices in the 30s and yet we will still pay 3 bucks a gallon. How much money are these gas companies making right now.

I know the general advice for if you're not going to retire for decades is to not worry about dips like this and to just ride them out, but I was thinking, would it be a good idea to rebalance my 401k and Roth IRA to 100% bonds?
The gas prices in CA are offensive, given how much oil had tanked even before today.Crude prices in the 30s and yet we will still pay 3 bucks a gallon. How much money are these gas companies making right now.
