They are lvl30 but I'm also lvl30(at gs510). I havent bought the expansion yet
Step 1: Go to recalibration station, click on recalibration library. Extract the good attribute stat (this destroys the item).
Step 2: Then go into recalibration station and choose the other option to recalibrate an item. Pick the item you want to add the stat too, then it will let you know all of the stats that are available.

You can't re-calibrate anything until you've extracted the stat now.

OK so although I completed the main game on PC I just used rewards and got the game+dlc on Xbox.
Used the level boost to jump right in. Need a Xbox clan now...

Is there any real reason to go after the commendations, aside for the patches? I never really payed attention to them actually but they seem fairly specific. Are there any rewards or something?

I have been very lucky today - on top of the random Chameleon from a bounty in DC:

Ok, now that theres a picture up, can anyone explain the three symbols on the stats that are red, blue and yellow. I know it means attack, defense and skills, but how do I see what extra damage or defense my guy is doing when it gets to 2 or 3. With the skills it's easy, it tells you on the skills, but the rest dont. I just dont know the difference between +1 on attack versus +5 on attack.

Shotguns are pointless in this. Rifles drop dudes in one shot, shotties still take multiple shots. Maybe I haven't found the right one.

You get points, about 30 each, but I have no idea what they're for lol. I have over 900 points now.
The commendation points are basically just a show off. You can see how much you (and other players) have accomplished. And yeah, mostly the rewards are just patches, and Div 1 to Div 2 gave you some rewards based on what your score was.

If you mean the 6 symbols under SHD 5, the ones in the left column just show how many Core Attributes they have. So here, 6 blue (aka armor). On the right is the Secondary Attributes (things like weapon handling, health, skill haste, etc.). That's broken down 2 red, 6 blue, 7 yellow. What each attribute gives you is all you get. Skill Tier is the only one that gets different rewards based on how many of them there. Otherwise, for blues, it just means you have 6 core attributes rolled to armor. But you don't get any bonus beyond the 1.5M armor already on the stat screen. That make sense?

It absolutely does make sense, thanks. At least I know I'm not missing important info. Just a quick way to show how your build looks I guess.

While I have you, where do we get off-white keys from to open the chest in the new settlement? From Hunters? Theres 8 of them we need.

Great! Yeah, gives a quick overview of the breakdown of a build.
In DC, you got Ivory keys from the hunters to open the box there.
In NY, you get off white keys from the hunters (we assume...not all of them have been found).

How long does it take to get to level 40?
From Level 30, I hit level 40 right before taking out the 4th lieutenant (I was OCD about capturing the control points/getting the SHD tech, etc. first). I'd say each zone took me 2-3 hours including the mission, depending how much off the beaten track exploring I did/how much time I spent in the recalibration library.

So, probably for most people 8-10 hours?

Just played for the first time last night, after having not played since just after the raid came out (I was lvl 30, GS 514), and it's kinda bananas how much the game has changed mechanically.

The gear recalibration is basically 100% different. Almost all of my gear doesn't seem to have mod slots any more. I can now equip all sorts of mods for my deployables that I never could before due to gear score, and there's apparently a new "Skill Tier" stat too.

Time will tell if it manages to keep me around again. I really burned out on the game the first time around, because the end game was so... dull. It just became the art of sifting through piles and piles of loot garbage, hoping for something with a marginally better damage roll or something.

Of course, I logged over 8 days of play time in the game despite that, haha.

Cheers, that's what I figured. I only killed one hunter to get the playing card mask. Looks like I'm going Hunter hunting lol

Completed the NY campaign, in regards to the story, there's some stuff I didn't really expect. Generally, I feel it needed a ton more exposure, though. But then captivating storytelling was never a strength of this franchise.

Balancing is gonna need a pass, probably. Naturally, I'll reserve judgement until I get more optimized gear, but enemies are back to being sponges again. Heavies are outright demonic now, and named heavies are just stupid. This one heavy Cleaner ate like... 6 TAC-50 shots and roundabout 400 LMG bullets, just wouldn't croak.

I took my time and had that people don't talk to you bug, and was drinking beers. I would say around 10 hours maybe faster if you rush
Thank you both. Seems reasonable

So most of my time playing through The Division 2, I stuck with the seeker mines and drone. I'd like to change things up, but those two skills are so effective for me it'll be tough to give them up. I assume other skills are fun for other reasons but I'm not sure where to start.

Any recommendations?

So, advice,

Right now I feel woefully underpowered. Heck, usually me and my friends managed to cruise through challenging but right now even hard is kicking our arses (that last area of Roosevelt....). So would it be advisable to just go to NYC to power up? Originally the plan was to stick around in DC to clean up unfinished business--mainly unlocking specializations, but the arse kicking we received made me seriously reconsider my plan, hahaha.

What do you folks think?

Yeah, get to 40 as soon as possible. There's really no point in staying in DC when all the loot you'll be getting will be worthless

I just played the first mission of the expansion, and it kept inviting the same random player constantly throughout it. I kept cancelling the invite, but it would auto invite them again. They never actually joined, but this happened like 40 times during the mission.

Is this some kind of feature I need to disable? I wasn't requesting help either at the time.

Weird. Nothing like this ever happened to me when I did it. Is it possible you accidentally enabled matchmaking somehow?

I'm close to hitting level 40. Once I do that, what should I be doing for loot, and how should I figure out what I can spec in?

Should I be hanging on to the SHD tech from NY or just go ahead and open the chests in the safehouses since I'm at level 40?

Did you play at launch? This was adjusted in the summer balance update last year along with AI tweaks. That said, running enemies into a funnel is something you can do in almost every shooter that doesn't just lock you into an arena. Choosing to play that way isn't a fault of the game and with how many gadgets endgame mobs have, many don't chase like that period aside from shield Bros. Different gadgets promote different playstyles so try and mix it up?

Gearing is super streamlined now with banking rolls and the new tier system on loot. If you get no enjoyment out of that, then longetivity wise it might not be a good investment. Little thought has to be put in to any builds to complete the story on story/normal difficulties however and is an fun ride, especially since it's so easy now to make use of skills.

If 30 bucks sounds acceptable to you for a 10 hour single player shooter as you go across an amazingly beautiful ravaged NY, then go for it. At the very least you will have this seasons free content to see if it gets its hooks in you.

Yeah in all fairness saying that I found the 'main game boring' isn't true, I had good fun up until I found it dull. I really liked playing through the campaign the first time, it was good fun and I think the missions are mostly well designed. It just got quite repetitive quite quickly.

As far as choosing to play in a boring way goes, I felt like the content was pushing me to my limit in terms of what my character could sustain, so often the path of least resistance (also the most boring path) was just the best way forward.

Best thing to do is:
Head to clan vendor
Head to regular vendors in DC and NY
Buy the god rolls or gear to get ya up in power.

Most efficient way to get good rolls is farming the Dz, but god rolls can drop anywhere, any difficulty. In general, harder difficulties have better chances though, so general progression is try Hard then Challenging then Heroic then Legendary. So yeah, just do whatever, including bounties...and don't forget about targeted loot!

Any update on fixing the specialist points not working? I want to switch to a new build but I have no points in them.

From before I hit 40, but this build's really coming together. Goodbye cover, hello winning tank-on-tank fights in the open.
