So I finished all the strongholds, and all the sidequests.

I'm looking at the map. All these icons on there, like the control points. There is nothing that I can take back permanently, right? All this stuff is just temporarily controlled stuff?

Right, but getting a 440 isn't likely. Although I think it may be weighted depending on your current gear score as almost every time I've crafted something it has been in 430's. Even so though, say 435 is average; compared to a 450 that can be recalibrated to 465, there is most certainly a big difference. Plus the materials required to craft are pretty steep, it could take 10-20 shots to get stats close to what you're looking for. Recalibration allows you to upgrade gear score and change attributes or talents to what you want; it seems like the better use of materials by far.

There isn't that big of a stats difference between a 435 and 465 piece, certainly none that should be making you use a sub-par 365 over a good 435 with more useful talents/stats/gear set. The bench is there so you can plug holes in your build, e.g. I was running LMG as my main weapon but hadn't got a decent one from drops so I crafted until I got a solid one with Frenzy. If you're looking for a particular piece thats what crafting is for. Recalibration and crafting dont really use the same resources anyway so they arent in direct competition. Once you have a piece with a talent you want stashed your choices for gear are disassemble/sell/donate and the stuff you pick up in the world is only used for crafting or small donations.

Did my first level 3 control point last night. Was aiming for Level 4 but I ended up following the supply convoy directly into the control point when I meant to cut them off before. Love this new aspect. The Control point was the one in the tunnels, west of the map. Ran out of ammo twice and had to call for back up a second time too.

Excellent shobu.

Is there gear you get from that worth it? I'm near 450.

You get blueprints. Beware though, if you die when the control point is seized (like if the NPCs take it) you miss out on all the rewards. I don't do CP3's for that reason, as a mostly solo player the time vs. potential to lose out entirely isn't worth it imo.

If you can solo challenge missions etc... you can solo CP3.

your build will have a huge impact here, the AI can be very tricky at all levels. So if your'e good at managing it on normal solo, I'm fairly certain you could manage it on challenge/CP3 with the right build.

Is there a way to permanently free the Campus? I take it off lockdown and do cleanup missions all around it - but it always goes back on lockdown which gets tiresome.

Question: How on earth do I get people into my group via matchmaking rather than getting invites to other groups where the mission completion apparently doesn't count for me?

I don't know if that armor regen perk is worth having or not cause it doesn't really seem to do anything.

The problem so far is that your armor is something like 80k at level 30 and 160k+ once you hit WT4. The highest armor regeneration attribute I've seen on a mod is maybe 800/s? 120% of that is still under 1000. So it'll take over a minute to regen your armor from empty, more like three minutes in endgame.

The regen does work, but you're right in that you barely feel the difference.

i am asking this myself since day 2 of early access...somehow there isn´t any reliable way to make yourself the leader and have people coming to your group, the game always wants to get you in other peoples groups and it is really annoying

in TD1 it was travelling to the mission and starting matchmaking from there but somehow this doesn´t work anymore in TD2

Yes there is.
  • Make sure your party privacy is set to Open.
  • Start a mission.
  • Call for backup.

Recalibration allows you to upgrade gear score and change attributes or talents to what you want; it seems like the better use of materials by far, and therefore selling for money seems more sensible. I'm sure there's a balance, but it seems like its skewed to the selling side far more than the breakdown side.

Yeah, I'm wondering what the range is for WT5, I hope its 500. I see your point, but like I said, the material requirements see crazy to me. Having to use rare brand materials plus other mats to make a new item of that brand type seems strange if the items you broke down all have the potential to be 465 and/or recalibrated with the talent/attributes of your choice. Which means that youre more than likely to find a good roll with a high gear score that can be recalibrated by the time you have enough materials to craft a bunch of that item. Maybe I'm wrong though.
"Early" in the game's life, it helps you fill holes in your builds. Late game, it lets you laser focus on something (again, at slightly lower max stats, but not crazy). This will become more relevant as very specific builds are discovered and refined. If Div 2 is anything like Div 1, what seems like a lot of mats now will be nothing later...I crafted hundreds if not a thousand items in that game because it was so easy to be rolling in mats with very little else to do with them. Judging by my current inventory, I'll be gaving to empty over a hundred gold items a week.

That said, Div 1 also ended up with an optimization station and if that happens, the bench becomes even more useful...

You miss out on the 'mission complete' types of rewards but the Supply Room still has loot appropriate to the Control Point level. It's just that once you're at 450 GS, the blueprints are far more valuable as they can be Brand sets and Attachments.

Dont you get a recipe when you craft them to upgrade their gearscore for WT5?

You have to purchase it from the WH vendor, but yes.

Are there more people doing matchmaking at higher levels? I ask because I'm at level 14 and it almost never puts me in a group when I try to matchmake.

So either there's server problems or the game is bugged. While using the specialist sniper rifle, at least half my shots don't register. The other guns have no problem. No lag or anything in the shooting

Yep. I never had any problems like this in TD1. I spent about 20 minutes repeatedly declining 'invites' from the same three people to join their groups with no one joining on mine. I guess no-one was joining on them either.

There's a problem there if doing the mission on someone else game results on it not counting toward yours and if that then means no-one wants to join on other people as a result.

I ended up doing it solo. Took bloody ages.

Just wanted to make sure you saw my post:

Thanks. I tried all these steps though. No joy. Someone joined for about 10 seconds via the 'call for backup' about halfway through and then promptly left again.

I'm level 24 and ran out of main missions to do, should I just keep queuing for random main missions and hope to get put in one that has yet to unlock for me?

Trying to save side missions for when I hit 30

Theres absolutly no reason to save side missions when youre done with the story. Every side mission is giving you 33% xp to your next lvl at 24 youll be 30 in no time with them

I think I finished the story, saw a cut scene that looked like a rallying cry for the future and bunch of people standing around looking important.

I also ran into this, and I discovered that it takes about 1-2 seconds for this gun to stabilise. If you fire before it's stable (you can tell that it's stable by two slightly longer vertical black lines coming in from the sides that then flank the middle of your reticle), the shot will go off in a random direction. Other marksman rifles stabilise pretty much instantly which is why we don't notice this with other rifles. To more clearly see these two vertical black lines, try zooming with a marksman rifle and then move: you should see the two lines move outward to indicate the spread of your bullets.

I really, really wished that developers would stop using power levels for weapons. It makes it impossible to do anything constructive with them until the very last power levels. It's just not worth it to even start a build.

I personally absolutely hate prioritizing numbers in RPG's. It's such a boring way to play a game that is supposed to be about finding creative and personal solutions.

I feel dumb for not using loadouts. I should use them more.

I've never been good at builds , this game has me trying though. I like it.
Loadouts are pretty difficult to use while levelling since I'm constantly finding new gear. I try to set up loadouts for different weapons / skills but all of my other gear ends up getting outdated unless I update all my loadout every time I equip something new.

I hate how specialisations are tied to a weapon. Don't like the sniper rifle at all but faster reload and AR stability is a godsend.

So what is the course of play really? Should I get lost on side missions or go for the main missions? I find myself always "off track."

Why do I sometimes see my screen being filled with yellow scanning text? It happened once when I entered a contaminated zone and couldn't figure out what was going on.

Anyone having problem with Equipment Adaptation Merit Commendation? My progress is stuck at 15 and it won't move even tho I have 16 Gear Brands. On the top of that Commendation requires 19 gear brands and I only found 16.

2. Providence Defense
3. Wyvern Wear
4. 5.11 Tactical
5. Gila Guard
6. Murakami Industries

There are three upcoming gear sets with WT5 next week, are those the ones?

So they fix the scaling issues with the most recent patch? I'm afraid to go on ahead of a friend and have him boned when I'm at a higher level when he joins me.

Well the nice thing about this game is you can never really get off track, because you're always making progress no matter what activity you're doing while you're leveling up / trying to hit max gear score. The game rains loot on you everywhere and you get plenty of XP doing whatever you feel like.

So I'd say mix in some control points (the loot from the supply rooms is very generous), explore the open world and loot everything you see, do a few side missions, then do a main mission or two. No need to just blast through the missions.

Why?

Just play the content as you get it, there isn't any reason to save anything for cap.

You also lose all the rewards if your civilian officer ally dies in the middle of the take over and you can't get to them to revive them in time. The game will just say, "oh cool, friendly NPCs took this over by themselves."

For those doing CP3 & 4, if you at least kill the first boss, and you die, you can fast travel because the CP is neutral.

You'll know because you're in the defending phase and the enemy reinforcements show up.
