"Swamp Thing has found himself a new swimming hole, over on The CW.

The home of the Arrowverse announced on Monday that it has acquired the DC Universe streaming service's one-and-done Swamp Thing comic book adaptation, which wrapped its 10-episode run back in August.

Additionally, The CW has acquired both seasons of CBS All Access' freshly cancelled Tell Me a Story anthology (as first reported here), two seasons the CBC drama Coroner, and the six-episode first season of the UK comedy Dead Pixels. The two latter shows will be making their Stateside debut via The CW.

No timetable for CW premiere dates was announced."

Wait, as in the CW is going to air the original season? Or they're making new episodes?

So Swamp Thing gonna go from a Maserati budget to an 05 Honda civic budget. Should be interesting.

So they just need shows to fill in the gaps now that production has halted.

...the DCU show was already mediocre so I don't know why people are upset at the move. They probably aren't doing another season anyway unless it does big numbers when they re-air the first season.

They are doing that because they need something to air this summer and autumn instead of new season of The CW's shows since all their productions are delayed.

Maybe if the DCU can figure out it's tax breaks, let CW pay them a little extra on top, they can get Swamp Thing back in motion.

I didn't think the Swamp Thing show was very good, but it did have that dark vibe and a fair representation of the comic. CW could mess it up but I think they could also do a better job. We'll see.

edit- No new seasons sucks. I have no interest in watching it again.

They aren't going to make new seasons, they are picking up shows to air if their real shows can't film.

You'll see more of deals like this (buying the rights to re-air existing but less well-known shows). The networks are all desperate for new-ish content they can air this fall, as all their productions are halted with no end in sight.

We'll see, like, Prime Video-levels of British TV content from the major networks.

CW shows british stuff during the summer. Got me interested in Bulletproof starring Micky from Dr.Who

Yep, gotta get something on the air with 12 hours to fill each week with no sign when productions will start again.

Was Swamp Thing the one that only got made because someone misread how big the tax breaks would be, and didn't realize they were wrong until they ran out of money?

Won't they have to heavily edit this? There's so much swearing and body horror in the series that surely wont fly on The CW.

No, that was a BS story. The execs thought it was a dud even though it was getting good reviews and just wanted it gone. More in this story.

Ahh, that's less funny, but makes a lot more sense. Thanks for the correction!
