Should've probably said "racing games with realistic cars." I don't think the restrictions are arbitrary, they make total sense to me.

Probably will have to go with Gran Turismo 4 here. I spent so much time in that game. Forza Horizon 4 would be high up there as well. Burnout 3, Midnight Club 2 and Project Gotham Racing 4 to round things out, and maybe some Dirt Rally in there too.

For realistic racers I would have to think on it much more as I don't play sim racers a lot, but probably GT3/GT4 based on that criteria.

The first Gran Turismo was fantastic but is too old today.

However, my pick is Daytona USA. Daytonaaaaaaaaa!

Out Run 2 is also the best.

It felt like they hit every aspect of that game out of the park, and Polyphony Digital was really firing on all cylinders. Every Gran Turisno game since has been good, but they've all had caveats. GT4 didn't though.

iRacing hands down is the best racing game of all time for me. I've been absolutely addicted to the career paths and making my way to F1.

Last great game before the open world nonsense started which hasn't positively benefited a single racing game ever.
