Mcds but only when it's warm. It tastes like cardboard if you decide to eat it a few hours later

McDonald's are disqualified for me because unless they are straight out of the fryer they are unlikely to be hot by the time you reach your home with them. And McDonald's fries are disgusting when reheated.

McDonalds. Five Guys is good but gives me stomach issues almost every time. I think its the oil.

I'm a fry expert. I voted Mickey D's just for consistency I think. Arby's curly fries are top tier. There was a time I would have said Five Guys, but the one local to me has just gotten horrible- soggy mess even if you ask for well-done, they don't even do the extra scoop, and oh yeah, they are outrageously priced. All other options require me to do some home post-prep to make them edible. Cane's and CFA should pay me for how much extra work I have to do when I get home.

Considering I don't like really most menu items at McDonalds, they have the best fries and as a certified potato specialist of all brands presented in the poll I can confidently say it is not even close.

IMO:
Wendy's double (or five guys) burger
McDonalds fries
Arby's Jamocha Shake
= trifecta of fast food perfect meal.

The thing with McDonald's fries is if they are hot, fresh and well-cooked, they're amazing. Otherwise they are cardboard.

Ever since Burger King changed their fries like 10 years ago I've hated them. I used to love them. CFA's are kinda like McDonald's. Arby's too., but they're probably my favorite in an ideal cooking scenario.

Tough choice. I voted McDonald's but Checkers is up there.
I like Taco Bell nacho fries but I only get them as a Nacho Fries Bel Grande, and I wouldn't compare and rank that against regular fries.
I don't mind Burger King fries all that much, and while I think McDonald's fries are better, I find BK fries to be more consistent. When McD's fries are good, they are really good; when they're over-cooked or over-salted or not salted at all though, they're bad. And McD's fries still aren't as good as they used to be before they switched recipes (what was it, they used to use beef tallow and then they stopped? Or they use it now and they didn't before? I don't remember).
Cookout's Cajun fries are pretty good.

I don't care for Wendy's fries though, but I do like dipping them in a frosty. I really wish they'd just have their potato wedges from breakfast as an all-day side item so I could get them over fries.

San Diego-ish
It has and always will be McDonald's for me. Del Taco gave them a good run in the late 2000s when I lived by one that always seemed to have them fresh but for the past ten years I've only received shit.

Mcdonald's and Checkers are 1a/1b to me.

Of course, I'd easily take chicken box western fries with that sticky icky ketchup on top over everything named in the poll/ITT.

El Pollo Loco used to have legit good fries.

Always fresh and crispy, each fry had just a bit of potato skin and they were seasoned well.

Also, it's probably cheating as they are dine-in for the most part but Red Robin's steak fries are excellent, especially when fresh.

arbys curly fries easy for me. mcDs is the best pure fries when it's fresh and properly salted, but the chances of that is like 1/10

-Jack in the Box curly fries are delicious. Good with hot taco sauce.

-Chick Fil A fries are also good. Sometimes they don't put alot which is insulting....

-Taco Bell has fries?!?!

-Mcdonalds fries are good in a good day. My last visit was really good. Other days.. meh....

-Arybs is good... literally the same as Jack in the Box.

-Canes is also good.. good with the chicken sauce.

For me, either McDonald's or Chick Fil A are the best... and it's because of their own sauces that makes the fries better....

5 Guys Cajun or Nacho Fries.

Culver's Chili Cheese fries are great too but a whole other thing.
