I really hope they iron out the issues.

That, and the UI needs an update for co-op. I should be able to see my parties augments and tactical cds. For some reason they show you party member XP bar (lol?) and HP but nothing else. I ran into more issues on the Gamepass for PC version than the Steam version but I don't know if that had anything to do with the XBOX / Gamepass app.

I was having serious trouble with the "resist 3 minutes" mission till I did the following to kinda cheese it:

First of all, I was lucky enough to have the big sniper robot (the one that turns invisible) weapon dropped after killing it in one of my attempts. I equipped this rifle, and after starting the timer I positioned myself in the upper right part of the map, just at the end of the little stairs in the little segment that ends with a desk. From there, you can kill all the enemies that come for you from distance (like shooting at their feet cause you are literally below them) aiming with LT pressed, and also their bullets can´t reach you because they are above you.

I hope I explained myself well and this helps someone.

After said mission, framerate started to dip like crazy and ended up in like mid 10-s or so till the game completely froze and had to close it manually. I am playing on Xbox Series S.

I honestly don´t know what´s the pressure to hurry and release game in a state like this, especially when we aren´t talking about a superbig publisher or something like that.

I may finish it this time around: the aesthetic (visuals and sound design also) and gunplay are totally carrying the experience for me. I dont give a monkeys about the story and the bugs are plenty, but the vibes are simply too good. I may even revisit it in the future, after some patches, that hopefully touch not only on technical matters, but also on design ones, like the disastrous maps.

I know devs are reading this thread so I will probably share my short review once I am done with it. I would actually like The Ascent 2.
Not sure why that side works, but the other doesn't? I had holed up on the bottom left side many times, but always had to abandon it once it got heavy. Anyway, barely took a hit camping that spot you mentioned. Used an mk2 rpg and zero issues. Thanks for the help!

The game is great but the stutter and bugs can make a good experience bad. Decided to use the controller even though sometimes it can't recognize it. I'm using a dualshock 4 as an xbox controller. Playing on PC with game pass. The spider boss was hard but doable thanks to an augment that restores your health to a previous state.

I havn't even bothered with co-op. No match making and all the bugs are probably going to make me play this solo.

Another weird issue I have in the menu's is right/left on the directional pad switch categories, even when inside of one option and using up and down to check different stats. If I want to go back and check a different weapon or armor's stats, it switches to a new menu option altogether. I don't know but I can't seem to get used to this. Other games use triggers to switch menu categories when the directional pad navigates within the category. It's driving me kind of nuts and it's just a small control thing that seems to go against normal conventions.

I get the impression this game wasn't Q/A'd long enough. It's too bad because the detail of the actual setting and world are DENSE (in a good way), so it's weird for all these little UI kinks and bugs.

finally beat it after a ton of tries, but the first time we did the game glitched. The timer ran out but it never recognized it and was still stuck on that objective. Had to restart and play it a few more times to beat it again and it worked that time. By far the most frustrating part of the game so far, played a few more hours after that and had no further giant issues

I really do dislike the hold the area against waves of enemies for this amount of time...objectives in any game.
More so when it requires you to also clear all enemies after you hold it for that amount of time.

It feels like everytime this objective shows up, the timer is 30 seconds longer than last time, and the play area somehow smaller/narrower.

Ray tracing in this game is so taxing. I'm playing the Steam version RT ON- 61-65 fps (City Hub) RT Off-165 fps (City Hub). 3900X+3080.
It doesn't matter if you use reflections only the game will still hover around 60 fps and sometimes dip as low as 40 fps when entering some areas.

Edit: The voice acting (fake language) for side quests is sooo bad. It's cringe and annoying. In cases like this the devs were better off leaving these side quest interactions text only.

I just noticed that the game adjusts boss difficulty by levelling them down when I die to them multiple times. Happened to me in mission 4 boss fight. I was level 14 at the time. And the boss was level 11. After dying multiple times, I noticed the boss' level was changed to 9 and I killed it eventually. This was normal diffuculty, btw.

So ray tracing, DLSS and DX11 do not work on the game pass pc version.
It also stutters to an unplayable extent.

This just isn't good enough.

yeah i can't stand this. especially when trying to fiddle around with the map. i'm so used to the left thumbstick allowing me to move the map around but it instead switches to a completely different menu. using the right stick to move the map feels really unintuitive.

I started this last night and it's already one of the best looking games I've ever played. I made it maybe 20-30 minutes in and not a whole lot happened but I'm looking forward to playing more tonight!

The cyberpunk aesthetic alone is enough to keep going for now. Really impressive work from the art team here, it's just dripping with atmosphere.

How do you upgrade the cyberdeck for hacking ICE 2 chests?

Find more upgrades in the world (exploration), it's as easy as that :) Each upgrade bumps the specs of the cyberdeck. There's no chest or door upgrades. Just one type of upgrade that bumps the deck up a level and gives it a new name. There's a few more upgrades in the game world than are needed to fully upgrade the cyberdeck.

Been playing it online coop for a few hours now and there are parts that are fun but the bugs and game design are just annoying. I'm playing on series X, friend on PC gamepass

And what's the point in money? I can't seem to find anything worth buying. Everything in the gun and armour shops are just stuff that I've found in the wild. I currently have over 200k creds with seemingly nothing to spend it on. This game currently feels like all style no substance.

Bugs:
-Tutorial messages are reset when loading up a saved game
-Voiced NPCs will repeat lines of dialogue (though this can be rather comical)
-Friend was stuck talking to the bartender, was only able to keep watching them make a cocktail for a really long time
-Quit to menu rarely seems to work
-if friend isn't in same immediate area but close enough to hear gunshots, gun shot effects will get stuck and keep looping even though they're not firing any longer
- friend after loading in after a cab ride, ended up ontop of a building with no way down and floating enemies

Possible odd game design:
-A recommended level 14 side quest had us go through an area with level 20+ enemies to an area that isn't even available yet

This game is hard. And sometimes frustrating... like if enemies corner you can't even roll way from them, which seems a pretty bad choice.
I am just re-spawning and chipping away enemies so I can kill those 4 mini-bosses. At least I am getting upgrades for my weapons that way, heh.

It sucks BIG time when you can´t progres in a side mission cause you haven´t unlocked the needed area in the correspondent main mission yet. It happened to me twice so far, with the "One More Rep" and "Lost and Found" side missions. The worst of it all is that you don´t get any notice. I follow the red trace that tells me where to go as usual and when I seemingly reach the point... there´s nothing, or just a barrier I dunno why I can´t go through. I had to look on the Internet to learn...

Now, in the races side mission, I go to rescue UBI, I think hes dude next to the ship but I approach him and nothing happens, I guess enemies should spawn or something... I have tried to go back to the main menu to reload my game but guess what? I can´t. I can´t never do it. I try to, but the game just is stucked in the pause menu after hitting the button. Again, I am playing on Xbox Series S.

Wow.

I don´t want to be rude, I know they are a small dev and all, but these things definitely shouldn´t happen in your game.

I love this game, the world is stunning and the shooting and upgrades feel great.

I only have 2 gripes

1) the mission scaling is all over the place. I'm doing a lvl 5 side mission as a level 14 and it's making me go through level 16-20 enemies. Also getting sidequests to areas I can't access yet

2) the map is just so confusing to use, it at least gives me time to explore the world more

Can't wait to see how they expand the game.

Has anyone figured out exactly how co op works with character save states yet?

1. Can I just have one character that I sometimes play on my own, sometimes join a friends game, or they join my game? Who leads the story progress?

or

2. Do I have to have a character that I play on my own, and then ANOTHER character in a different profile that I only use when playing co op?

Yeah you can just use a second character for coop if you want, then use the first for solo. The way progression works it's the way I have been doing it, and the host is the only one that gets story progression. But yeah there's no forced character for anything, when you join a coop lobby you select what save/character you want to use.

Think I may have hit a main mission progression blocker - I'm in the middle of the Data Miner mission, I see a short cut scene and then when I progress it changes to Stop the Ascenders from activating the HPM-Emitter and there are no enemies around at all. Nothing to do on the green marker and no ascenders around.

Any ideas?

Exit and reload the mission, happened to me yesterday and was able to continue just fine.
Hope it helps!!!

I was stumped here too. There is actually a piece of machinery right where the quest marker is that you need to blow up.

Yeah it was something that was attached to the big circle thing in the middle. Sorry I'm doing such a shit job of explaining it. I got past that part a while ago. I just remember killing all the guys and then when it didn't progress and I couldn't find anything to hack I threw a nade at my feet to kill myself and it blew up a piece of machinery there and let me go forward.

I think my mission is bugged as there's zero bad guys in the area at all - they're in the cut scene but then when it ends, no-one around

Well I hope there wasn't anything important on the Spider boss that dropped.

I beat it on the second go but I died the exact same time so I had to do it again. Beating it on the next run I died as soon as the cutscene finished to one of the little ones. Everything was gone coming back to the room.

Welp, after we were literally stuck in a cutscene we had to alt f4 out of I have literally lost all my equipped gear including my Cyberdeck.

Shame because the game was decent but nowhere near good enough for me to restart the game solo again from scratch.
Game most definitely needed more time in the oven with the tons of bugs in coop.

Did this last night and it deleted my single player character and story save. I joined a friend selected my character and it immediately made me create a new character. I thought that's weird, it just asked which character I wanted to use. Went back to the main menu and my level 15 character was and deleted and story progression had been reset. Played until level 7 last night coop and we ran into a slew of bugs. We had to stop because no missions would pop up so we couldn't progress and the game started throwing invincible level 20 enemies everywhere. Went to play single player and still can't get any missions and can only aimlessly wonder around the world. I was enjoying the game a lot solo and had only had the sound bug where gunfire would continue from time to time when you stop shooting. Now I don't even want to play the game again. I wouldn't suggest anyone play online coop right now...

Is that the mission you get the spiderbot aug? If so, yeah you missed one of the best augs in the game.

I quit out of the game and reloaded it from scratch. It put me a ways from the same area after I reloaded and the next time I hit the cutscene, it loaded up the enemies fine and allowed me to progress. Just exit to main menu, quit and restart.

There's a bug I posted about earlier that if the host selects "host new game" and you use an already used character that it will delete the saved character you selected, which happened to me. So far haven't lost anything playing with someone who's already started the game and selecting "host saved game". But yeah this game is incredibly buggy, there's a solid game here but it is most certainly being held back by all the issues I have run into.

Finished the campaign yesterday and had a lot of fun! I'm still sitting at 83% of the side quests done, and have not yet found the remaining.. I'll have to walk around the world to find it.. Will probably take a while. :(

Edited to note this was on Game Pass.

I've put about 6 hours into co-op with my friend, and I think we're done for a while and will check back in 6-12 months once it's had some patches. There is a fun game there, but the stutter, failed triggers to advance a fight, connection issues, literal failure for menu buttons to even work, and in our last session leaving a cutscene to have the entire environment disappear (HUD visible, name visible, game still running but I couldn't see the textures for anything, just black) have really put us off.

The game is beautiful, detailed, and full of life, and yet it frustrated me that the urban centers are so big and largely for show except digging around for chests (and I found the design to be confusing and annoying moving from lower to upper levels). I also found the menu/map navigation, as others said, to be sort of the inverse of expectations. I constantly switch menus when trying to look at other armor pieces.

I was looking at the min/rec specs after the last session and I don't understand it. The minimum video card is a 660, which is 9 years old; the recommended is a 2080 (!!!). How do you optimize a game running on that many different versions of hardware?

Had this exact same problem after one of those fights. The only really framerate issues I've seen so I was shocked at first then it just fucking nose-dived.

Did you notice a shit load of those flying drone bots going around? It was like a swarm, I wonder if that's related.

Everything went back to being fine after that though.

One QoL feature I can think of that'd help a lot is having some means to get to the start of a dungeon.

Like I just did a really long and tough dungeon that led to another dungeon. While the highest ranking enemies were only 1-2 levels above me in the previous area...they are 4-5 levels above me in the new one.

If I want to go back into the hub world to grind some side quest and XP, I'd have to back track all the way to the start of the previous dungeon. And that's very tedious.

Also having fast travel between the three zones would help too.

This is another thing I don't really get: it's not uncommon to find high level and low level enemies in basically the same area. I found this really odd and unexpected.

It's more or less fine in the hub world, you can just avoid them as those areas are meant to be accessed later. But I'm in a story mission with its special area, and it seems like the last mission...but to get here I had to do a sort of dungeon before that (again in a separate area, not in the hub world). But the difference in level of enemies between the two areas is quite high. In the previous area, the big enemies were level 25, in the new area even the regular goon is level 30. Heh

Hmm, do stats stack above 20? Like, say I have Evasion maxed out at 20, but I stack more Evasion through gear, would that further boost my Evasion recovery?

I don't understand that ICE thing or how its called. I have "1" and a chest requires "1" and when I hack it it says it failed because it requires "1"
