Thanos: achieved his objective.

Night King: achieved nothing.

The NK is one of the all-time worst villains in fiction.

the skeletons die when they entered the tree. bran being marked allowed him entry.
So the Night King's magic can counteract whatever magic held them back. Which means he's not weak to it at all, is he? Maybe his foot soldiers are.

Whatever magic held them back being thanks to weirwoods is still an assumption.

Plus everything else I said before.

Midgar, With Love
They're both kinda lame. The Night King's involved in a far more interesting universe, though, and genuinely managed to frighten me a bit in earlier seasons. Him, I guess.

Actual best villains in these two universes are Erik Killmonger and Cersei Lannister.

the tech is meaningless. hawkeye can shoot regular arrows at his army and still kill them. they die by comventional hand guns. they die by a shield being tossed. and those are done by humans who tire.

i think y'all are over estimating how powerful thanos is. he was losing so badly to wanda he called in an artilery strike on everything just so he could get away. he needed the power stone to just beat marvel. he isnt that strong, they just made iron man and thor even weaker for fan service reasons. like, lets say its just the night king vs thanos with no stones and no armies. the night king is known to freeze basically anything it touches, thanos sword would shatter because its frozen solid and so would thanos. you also have the fact the night king is comparable in speed to cap so hed have no problem keeping up. the night king also doesnt tire plus seems to be immune to anything that isnt dragonglass near a godwood. thanos is gonna lose to general fatigue. if you want to add in space armadas then its kind of a coin toss because one death = another member for the night king as his ressurection seems to not have a range or require sight of bodies to be used. given the night king only has 1 weakness, its gonna almost always be team night king. lets say his frost dragon kills one of the flying things, he now has a flying thing.

i think you guys are underestimating just how useful unlimited undead raising and immortality is.

I don't think Iron Man or Thor were weaker. Newest nano suit Tony and dual wielding Thor could take almost anyone else in the MCU. It just so happens they were going against an angrier, less forgiving Thanos.
So he wrecked them along with Cap.

The Night King ain't shit. I don't think he'd be able to instantly freeze someone as tough as Thanos. It's not like Arya's head and neck suddenly froze and shattered either. So based on how Thanos vs Cap Marvel went at the VERY least Thanos could fling TNK fucking miles. More than likely his blade would fuck him up too after how it tore Cap's shield apart.

I'd give The Night King less than a 1 in 14,000,065 chance of winning. Without any stones entering the equation.

Thanos
  • Killed a literal god with his bare hands
  • Conquered numerous planets without a single Infinity Stone
  • Has an army that will literally kill themselves en-masse just to take down a shield
  • Could have killed every single hero he come up against but chose not to
  • Survived a stab from a weapon forged in the light of a dying sun
  • Lost but only in 1/10,000,000+ possible timelines

The Night King
  • Killed a suicidal dude with his bare hands
  • Only conquered a single keep run by a little boy despite having an Ice Dragon
  • Has an army that will politely slow down to give the enemy a fair chance at not dying
  • Couldn't even kill Samwell Tarly
  • Killed by a stab from a weapon (that could have been) forged by a long-distance runner in a basement
  • Lost in the only timeline confirmed to exist

Thanos can singe handily best the whole of the army of the dead + WW + NK, and that's him without a single infinity stone. This is not even a fair fight. If Westeros was facing an attack from Thanos instead of the NK, he'd have the whole planet worshiping him as a god by the end of a week.

Night King and his unstoppable army couldn't kill Sam. My gran has half a chance of taking him down and she's bedridden.

The Hulk could beat the NK, and Thanos kicked his ass without using even one stone. Just straight-up bodied him.

he didnt die to dragonfire. that killed his minions easily. he was only able to be harmed near the godwood. everywhere else he was invulnerable. bran being branded allowed him to tether off bran which kind of means he gets some exemptions from him as well. night king has already shown to be able to perceive 3 eyed raven magic so its not even a stretch to assume his magic is tied to godwood.

but all that is beside the point: he is shown to be invulnerable, tireless, as strong or stronger than captain america, just as fast, can freeze objects solid, can raise as many wights as possible, can control them as if they were a RTS, and can basically raise anything that was once living even if its already been long dead, and all these dead are tireless, hording, dont feel pain, and can be shown to kill things with anything and since thanos and his aliens arent actually immune to anything, you might just get a ghost battle 2.0 from lord of the rings, just not as quick.

people really underestimate undead rising. thanos army would lose to the undead from dawn of the dead remake. thats just how op undead hordes are.

night king can freeze objects solid
has an undead army that doesnt tire, feel pain, and can slay ravagers
night king can raise said ravagers
1 death in thanos army = 1 more for the night king, thanos would have to not lose a single soldier
white walkers are so cold fire around them goes out and their weapons can shatter steel / iron on impact.

you guys keep saying thanos will win but dont actually say how he will win other than infinity stones, or he'll somehow learn the night kings weakness and create dragon glass (where does he learn this). you are even told how invunerable the night king but y'all think thanos will just walk up and 1 punch him and itll be over. youre all just kind of just assuming hed win cause he used stones to beat heroes but without him he basically gets jobbed.

like, thanos punches cap and cap doesnt explode into a pile of goo, why would the night king just shatter?

I'll say what I said in the Night King vs Sauron thread...

Game of Thrones can do without the Night King, I still think the throne itself is the greatest villain but they did well with his design, lore. etc. yes.

Thanos' desire to achieve his goal is impressive, obsession with the stones, love for power, once they introduced Thanos to MCU you could probably say he saved the franchise.

Thanos by himself would wreck the NK and his army. Thanos took a beat down from Hulk, laughed it off, and then overpowered him. This is the same Hulk who threw planes around like nothing and suplexed and gave noggin knockers to flying aliens that were the size of 5 story buildings. Just on physical strength alone Thanos is too much for the NK.

The Night King could've been such an amazing villain. Im tired of big bad evils being built up to be invincible, and dying like idiots to excuses like "alas, he was too cocky".

This was always Thanos' fate because the MCU universe is full of assholes who are too fucking smart and dont get hurt by shit, but it didnt have to be the night king's dammit

Thanos's army can just blast the undead with their space weapons.

Even better, his stupidly large ship can just blow em up in the sky.

Night King got one dragon.

Well thanos's troops have laser guns and possibly vibranium, at least an element capable of cutting through or destroying vibranium. I really think thanos's army could blow the night king's to chunks before they could kill many of his troops. After that I don't know how he kills the night king, but I don't really know how the night king could kill Thanos either.

The difference is Thanos has an army vastly superior to the night king's and generals with superpowers. They could end up just trapping the dude in a rock prison using telekinesis and he'd be effectively defeated.

i dont think it was cocky buy rather he is just some creature who zergs. i dont think there was going to be any hype battle where he dies. over time i am coming to actually like how he died cause it makes sense for them to lure him and take him out. itd be weird story wise for them to meet in an open field and fight 1 on 1 surrounded by their armies. jon running at the night king was hype though. but i think thats the point where you accept hes just too stronk to fight like that cause thats his absolute strength.

laser guns are meaningless. these wights die to swords. they still move even without their legs. its a resource battle where 1 dead = another for the night king. unless thanos and his generals can body the night kings army and their own army, he doesnt actually stand a chance unless its some space bombardment or infinity stones but then this scenario wouldnt be even fielded.

Thanos is a Titan, without any Stones whatsoever simple steel or frost weapons would not even penetrate his skin. You're talking about a dude that can survive a direct lightning blast and punches of several megatons. Thanos alone could defeat the NK and the undead army.

The NK is hella weak. You're talking about pitting a fantasy villain v. a Cosmic villain. The Cosmic villains will always win since they have future tech and spend their days conquering whole planets, not one planet.

Laser weapons completely disintegrate bodies, so...

Can't move when you're melted to sludge or ashes from laser weapons.

I don't know how the NK could even penetrate Thanos' skin, since the Hulk couldn't even do that and Iron Man only scratched him. The swords of the wights would just bounce off Thanos. Since Thanos couldn't even be touched by them, I don't see how he loses that fight.

They might not be dead from lasers but they're still made of human flesh, they'd be vaporized. The only way the Night King would have a remote chance if he sent his army in basically unarmed in a ground battle, which would be ridiculous.
