So this thing doesn't have crumple zones if the steel outer shell is that strong, right? Doesn't that violate all modern safety standards?

Oh my god, my jaw dropped for a prolonged minute at how ugly that thing is.

Earlier this year there were outstanding mock-ups made by good designers that look much better.

That's actually pretty cool looking, but it doesn't look like a pick-up. It's an El Camino. I want cars to look like we live in the future.

The problem I have with Rivian is they've never released a product. Tesla has and have simply built up more good faith with the safety records of their vehicles. Easier to drop $50k on that vs a startup that is just getting in when the traditional auto makers are catching up. I hope Rivian succeeds but design alone isn't enough.

I keep looking at the Tesla truck and imagining that scene in Iron Man 1 but when they unveiled the truck to Elon.

"Sir...it's impossible..."
"SIMONE GIERTZ WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A GARAGE WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!"

I don't understand how this is supposed to look in a lineup next to their other cars it is so completely out of place. I was 1000000% sure this was an Elon troll up until the stream ended. Maybe it still is.
