I think BoTW is one of the best games of all-time, and certainly the best of this generation.

But goddamn I wish Revali's Gale would start to recharge without you having to use ALL 3 CHARGES before the recharge starts. Maybe the only thing I would change about that game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is overwhelming for the amount of systems it introduces at the start but about 3 hours in you realize they don't really matter. It makes the game feel tedious at the start when it actually isn't.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door has an ever so slightly tiny problem with backtracking in the last act of the game.

Otherwise, game of the forever.

Having to remap all your shit again in new vegas when they take your weapons away for some story reason sucks

Games where you read up on a forum that there's a quick way to do things i.e. the hold down 'X' to come out of all menus in RDR2 rather than having to shut each one separately!

Of course that could just be me being inattentive!

Kingdom Hearts' story is supposedly a bit hard to follow or convoluted, but I haven't noticed

Having to use up a Charm slot to mark yourself on the map in Hollow Knight.

Also the Souls-like "recover your currency after death" thing is a little tacked on.

Hitman 2: gameplay freezes when in inventory. Would love an option for it to be realtime.

Most bioware games, but espcially mass effect 2

Lack of being able to bring more than two party members. Doesnt make senss story wise, and limits customizatikn

The ultra boring and time consuming real estate minigame in yakuza 0.
The unskippable cutscene in max payne 3
The shitty pc performance of dishonored 2 at launch

Persona 4 requires some weird navigation to get to the true ending, and Yosuke's homophobia is played for laughs and that sucks.

Top of my head stuff:
Random shit with none of your input setting the shopkeeper off in Spelunky, like a cobra killing a damsel in a kissing booth or blowing up a bomb crate in a shop's vicinity.
The perspective for jumping puzzles in CrossCode making it really hard to see height differences, especially for jumping puzzles that go across several screen transitions and you have to backtrack all the way back.
And in Smash Bros. Ultimate, not being able to change the sorting of the character select screen (the sorting by reveal makes sense from a marketing standpoint and like, on paper it sounds good, until you realize it makes the select screen absolutely atrocious because there's no rhyme or reason to it), as well as having no ability to change singular ruleset options (e.g. stage hazards on/off, amount of stocks, time limit etc.), without having to create an entirely new 'ruleset profile'.

The Valkyrie coming down in Too Human. Takes a bit too long but randomly it does it instantly.

Forza Motorsport 7 has a really decent weather system. There are dynamic changes during races, with some really heavy downpours. It's dramatic and effective.

But sometimes I just want to ensure I've got a lovely sunny day on the track and that's not something you can select.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together needs a redesigned crafting system. IIRC it was very rushed, and it shows.

Metroid Prime 2 Agon Wastes and Temple Grounds look too much a like and should've been a bit more varied aesthetically

A recent tiny thing in GT Sport's single player mode is the computer seems determined to want to stick F-150's in everything but one-make and group/country specific races. They are only there for a second but still, it is annoying.

Metroid Prime music was pretty much all cool sci-fi synth stuff, but then Metroid Prime 2 and especially 3 aimed for "epic" sounding... fake choirs. Not only is the tone shift for the worse, but it sounds super cheap, unlike the synth.

More like a series's faults instead of a game's faults, but yeah.

My beef with GT Sport is the lack of grid start or even realistic rolling start races in single player career. Motorsports shouldn't involve chasing a car that starts half a lap ahead.

Actually this isn't really a nitpic it's a really big annoyance or me.

Damn, as someone who's only played the first one and who keeps putting off 2 and 3 in hopes of a Switch port - this is bunk.

Smash Bros. Ultimate has a loading screen before the character selection screen every time. It makes the adventure mode feel less immediate than it should when swapping characters.

At the very least I guess you can choose grid starts in custom events. A mode which solves a lot of my nitpicks about GT in general, but still no way to prevent F-150s from showing up :P

Yeah, kind of a bummer. Still some really good tracks in all the games, but the choir sounds especially in 3 bug me. Compare:

To be fair, MP1 did have some hints of fake choir sounds, but it was always secondary to the synth, like in the menu theme:

Midgar, With Love
FF7: Several easily missable summon materia.

Xenogears: Even with several dozen character portraits, there are still some unfortunate omissions. Just goes to show this game's cast is seriously vast.

Mass Effect 2: The coffeemakers with stale coffee in nearly every crime scene. We get it, it's tragic, they died making coffee.

Breath of the Wild: Kas should play more songs during random encounters with him.

Dragon Age Origins: Mage hats. What were they thinking?

Dragon Age Inquisition: The Exalted Plains are way too damn bright.

Yes there is custom, I just wish it was an option in main career. The way the races work there is just a terrible anachronism.

In Final Fantasy XIII, when you switch paradigms for the first time in a fight, you have to watch each character take a stupid pose one after the other, which is pretty annoying. It doesn't add anything, it's just a waste of time. It was fixed in FF XIII-2.

In the Yakuza series (except the newer entries), having to mash X to stand up when you're knocked to the ground is so aggravating, unnecessary, and it kills the pace of the battle. It's worse in fights where you get knocked down as soon as you stand up. The newer entries with the Dragon Engine are much better in this regard.

That would make Revali's Gale way too overpowered.

My problem with BotW is that the sound that plays when you use the tablet is way too loud and high pitched, it hurts my ears.

Witcher 3 should not have displayed the map POI icons by default.

It is always the first thing I tell new players to disable if they want to not be overwhelmed and burn out.
