A mountain in the US

That gets the defense force, but when AOC even talked about playing games in her private time, she got bashed to hell by people saying "You should be working!!!" I recognize these likely aren't the same people, but it's so obnoxious to see people just play team sports (and dems do the same thing).

I love these "What do you expect him to do?" arguments. Like I dunno, maybe spend all his time at the very least helping to get the nation and the federal government focused on getting as much relief for his state as he can and not fucking off to Cancun.

Sometimes I think I should toss aside my principles and run for federal office as a Republican. Seems to be the easiest job in the world these days. Just need to mock the left, shout socialism at everything, and it doesn't matter if you are a terrible person who is absolutly shit at your job. If you pick the correct seat your reelection is close to guaranteed.

Well there you go, originally going to return on Sat, so fully ducking out.

If I were a senator, Id live for moments like this. "Get me to a soup kitchen, passing out blankets, whatever. No official photos, viral will be plenty."

Republican supporters would rather freeze to death than even listen to a Democrat talk about how they could improve their lives (I guess because it would improve other peoples' lives as well?). I don't know how that gets fixed.

Amazing the bullshit that Republicans can get away with. Imagine the outrage if AOC or Pelosi did the same thing if a natural disaster occurred in their district.

This will come off as devil's advocate even though of course this is slimy shit on so many levels, but....what role does the senate play in a situation like this right now? Does that level of govt plays a key role in aid right now?
Sorry if already answered as this might be super late, but since US Senators have obvious ties to their state governments they essentially are liaisons during a crisis and constantly making sure their State gets what it needs in terms of Federal Aid as well as where it might need to go if the Senators are able to contact local leaders on the ground.

I am sure Texas government officials are loving the relief and cover provided by Cruz at the moment. Perhaps this was the intended effect.

if that's remotely true, LOL at that convo "hey ted since people hate you and your family anyway wanna do us a favor?"
The implications of that are hilarious, but Ted Cruz will have grifter media lining up for him post office, and he has the cover of "my actions of leaving after two terms are in line with my support for term limits".

This is such a fitting thing for a Republican Trump loyalist to do. Horrible image after image and stories of people freezing in their homes, having pipes literally burst and destroy their property, people dying trying to stay warm...and Cruz dips out for a vacay at a Cancun resort. God damn. I know identity politics is strong out there in Texas but the optics alone has gotta have voters in Texas feeling abandoned.

"Wanting to be a good dad I flew my daughters and their friends down Cancun during the middle of a pandemic."

In other, somewhat expected news, Ted Cruz is a crappy parent.
