This is extremely petty but it bothers me to no end that in the battle BGM DLC from old games, Tales of the Abyss has Awkward Justice instead of Edge of a Decision for some reason. I might have bought it if not for that glaring screw up.

The code they give me for the collector's doesn't even work. Nice namco, it doesn't start good at all...

Maybe try setting your platform to Japanese?
Yeah, I've set console language to JA
Also tried signing into my Japanese account and starting the game

It looks Namco intentionally locked it out.

=(

finished the first area and boss

pretty much all positive impressions so far other than the weird rumble thing I mentioned earlier and the FOV being annoying sometimes

while i'd still prefer them in 2d I was surprised how quickly I got used to the new skit style, and it's early but the field areas feel a lot less boring and empty so far(which was probably the single biggest issue I had with Berseria)

boss fights feel nice so far as well

I'm not sure if I get the basic of combat right. Are you supposed to build your combo with normal attack and chain them with Artes?

Midgar, With Love
Now that it's out, I'll formally say it -- I hope everybody enjoys it as much as I have. It's a pretty special game and a personal GOTY contender.

How do people feel about the short queue vs long queue option? Is there a recommendation?

Really enjoying the game so far!

i don't think it matters the order you do it. but i think basic attacks theres a like a cooldown after 3 hits? i could be remembering wrong. i skimmed the tutorial.
artes you can go as long as you have gauge points but if you have a boost attack, i would use up those points because if you use a boost attack it'll refill the gauge

short + manual combat mode for me.
it sorts of keeps me from spamming buttons because it doesn't really lock you to the enemy unless you aim

I'm also a little confused about the queue thing, reading it on another site, it seems like short queue means you cancel attacks into other attacks more quickly? Or am I misreading?

Correct. You also have an additional normal attack combo in the air, so it's also possible to go

Normal attacks > artes that lift you up to the air > aerial normal attacks > aerial artes.

If you so wish.

Well damn. My Amazon order, which was supposed to arrive today, is now scheduled to deliver tomorrow. I just checked a bunch of stores near me and NONE of them have the physical PS5 version in stuck.

Just installing on my series X, any reports of achievements not working with quick resume or is it all good?

Just in the second area. I noticed that the left trigger in combat says switch but it doesn't seem to do anything. Is that for later? Also I wish I could map more artes than 3. Other than that still enjoying it immensely.

The game has a tutorial explaining this that you can check in the field guide menu, but here's the basics.

Your normal attacks that don't consume any AG but are limited in the amount you can string together (at the beginning of the game the base normal attack combo is limited to 3 strikes, you can increase this with skills later on)

Your Normal attacks can combo into artes which consume AG. AG regenerates overtime when you aren't performing an arte and generates faster when you aren't attacking at all. How much AG an arte consumes varies by arte but the ones Alphen start off with all costs just one AG.

An important thing about Normal attacks is that the game counts the string limit for normal attacks on the ground and air seperately. Meaning that if you used three normal attacks on the ground, and become airborne in the same combo, you can do the three normal attacks in the air.

Taking all that into account, here's an easy combo you can do with the Artes Alphen knows from the beginning:

Attack x3 -> Swallow Blade -> Rising Wyvern (launches enemy into the air and makes you airborne) ->Attackx3 ->Mirage

Are there really ads in the game, or is someone in Steam reviews trolling?

I'm surprised this run this well on my ancient aging PC....
running on a i5-4670 + GTX960 and on default settings I was getting an average of 40-50FPS
dropping shadows to "Mid" and Anti-aliasing to the 1st setting before Off, I'm now getting 55-60FPS (haven't seen it dip lower so far), but I had to rush, skipping all the cutscenes to get to the 1st couple of fights to make sure, so I still had time to refund in case the game was unplayable.

Managed to find a Xbox copy, have to say I really appreciate how bamco gave us a reverse cover with the better key art used in the Jp version.

depends what you mean by "ads" I guess

this is what the camp screen they mention looks like:

edit: as far as scrolling text goes I haven't seen any even when trying to intentionally find it now, there's some connection issue with the DLC server for me so I guess it's possible that isn't loading in?

There's a little scrolling text banner on the screen when you make camp in the field advertising the DLC costumes and the like. Furthermore one of the menu options when camping is to peruse the DLC store.

I thought BoTW haf the worst monsters variation. But this game might win in that category.

Thanks, all. I guess if I go Attack x3 -> Swallow blade -> Rising Wyvern -. Attack x3 -> Mirage, it will stop my combo because I have reached both the limit of my ground and aerial attacks?

is it just me or is Balseph just woefully OP for a beginner boss?

I pretty much mained Shionne through that whole ordeal, Alphen would just make me use up all portions and gels and it would still get me nowhere lol. gotta say with her also I'm out of stock on many items.

Anyone got any spicy non-default strategies that have been working for them?
