Taking shots: Does anybody actually enjoy it?

Unless you're trying to get fucked up very quickly I don't see the point. Haven't taken one in years, not a kid anymore
Another clue: the rituals you do before and after the shots. It's all about mitigating the revolting reaction to shots... lick salt, bite into a lime etc.
In the end, the purpose of a cocktail is similar: hide the intense taste of liquor behind a combination of flavors. Only way nicer and more elaborate than downing shots.
What I also don't like is how shots speed up the process of getting drunk. When getting drunk, it's all about the journey, not the about end of being completely shitfaced. Raising the level slowly over the course of the night is the perfect way to do it.
I'll be honest, I'm shocked by these poll results. Nowadays, I can't take a shot of anything without immediately needing to throw up (unless I'm already fairly drunk). Even when I was able to safely take shots, I wouldn't say that I ever enjoyed it.
Not picking on you but I'm curious, have you done a shot of Grey Goose? Not so objectionable.

Yes, I've done shots of Goose. It's not as bad as most other liquors, but it still has a consistency and bite that my throat doesn't appreciate.

I dunno honestly. If I'm drinking straight liquor, I'd prefer it to be high quality and on the rocks, but there are some layered shots that are lovely, like a B-52 or Kamikaze.
I love shots as a group. A couple of weeks ago, I went to a bar in Minsk with some coworkers and we tried every shots on the menu. These were not your regular shots though, one of them for example was a jalapeño and rum shot with an octopus chaser😎
Ilike it cause i try to drink for social reasons but i hate alcohol taste and i can't drink tones of stuff without feeling liek my belly is going to explode anyway, so shots are a quick way to experience the alcohol effect without really having time to taste it or fill my bladder
Yes, vodka especially. In college I'd usually just pour out a glass of vodka (roughly 3-6 shots) and sip on it for an entire evening / party.
Lol, if you're like I was, you don't even notice the taste soon. You're more concerned with the burning sensation in your stomach lining than the fact that you're essentially drinking paint thinner.
Don't feel ashamed about not liking shots. Idiots who boast about their tolerance or drinking feats or whatever are likely on the path to alcoholism, if not already there. These are things I've learned in my mid 30s that seemed crazy when I was in my 20s.

Did this for the first time a few weeks ago. Had 6 shots before I stopped myself. Fun times.

Yeah and imo this is essentially their sole function. They really only make sense in the context of a group of people all intending to get drunk together(ish).

Not the biggest vodka fan but I will if it's good. I'm a tequila/mezcal and whiskey kind of guy. Keep it away from me.
