Marvel vs Capcom 2 was so popular and played for so long that I think people just started to think the soundtrack was really good for some reason

It's the perfect song for a character select screen. It's great to have in the background when you and your friends stop playing for a moment to eat pizza or something. Same vibe as Super Mario World world map music.

I agree with him Take you for a ride is a terrible song. The rest of the soundtrack is also bad except for maybe 2 stages. The OST just does not fit for a fighting game.
I've never been to a casino, but for some reason I think of it as like a casino background music. It's not necessarily good music on its own merits, but the catchy nature of it coupled with our arcade memories made it legendary. I listen to the song and I can already hear the menu sounds and the stick noises inside my head. It's comfy.
I don't think it belongs in "best OSTs" threads either, but complaining about it is like telling a child that the children's show they love is actually trash. You may not be wrong, but you're still in the wrong.

If you listen to this soundtrack and don't hear the accompanying cacophony of other games, pinball machines screeching, and people fighting over who's next, you don't even understand. Out of curiosity, thoughts on SF3's Third Strike character select screen track? Cause it's essentially a ten-second loop and I still think it's a banger.
Maaaan, it's great. Someone needs to be taken on more rides. Personally I love it when fighting games have that sort of up beat showy music. Kind of gives the impression of a big flashy event at a casino or something. Same reason I love 176th street from King of Fighters.
