Seriously how the fuck does this keep getting mentioned in best fighting game OST threads, it's garbage. It's five seconds of a song looped for eternity, I hate it so much.

100% agree OP. The song is just repetitive garbage that feels out of place with the caliber of battle being held.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 was so popular and played for so long that I think people just started to think the soundtrack was really good for some reason
It sucks and was a huge step down from the previous Vs. games that had unique themes for each character

Fuck you, prove me wrong. That song has been stuck in my head for nearly 20 years and I'm not mad about it.

MvC2's soundtrack is bad in general.

Marvel vs Capcom soundtracks historically are forgettable at best, flat out horrid at worst. MvC3 had so much music and so much of it was bad

Its awful, but it is memorable ... and maybe thats more important.

Nobody making threads about the select-a-fighter song from MvC1 20 years later.

I've never been to a casino, but for some reason I think of it as like a casino background music. It's not necessarily good music on its own merits, but the catchy nature of it coupled with our arcade memories made it legendary. I listen to the song and I can already hear the menu sounds and the stick noises inside my head. It's comfy.

I don't think it belongs in "best OSTs" threads either, but complaining about it is like telling a child that the children's show they love is actually trash. You may not be wrong, but you're still in the wrong.

Take you for a ride is awesome OP. It's a short, really, really catchy loop.

I don't know why but I always associated this track with dead rising, but yeah it's awful.

As a three minute track? Yeah it's not great.

For the time-limited character select screen it was designed for? It's iconic as hell.

This song is SO out of place in a fighting game, I found it really weird when I booted the game the first time.

Could be a good fit for a jazz cafe though.

I can't stand it. The soundtrack in general probably stopped me playing MvC2 as much as I might otherwise.

It definitely marked the time where Capcom stopped giving a fuck about the music in their fighting games.

But the whole OST is meme worthy so 🤷‍♂️

All these awful takes

The jazzy ridiculousness of MvC2's music in arcades was pure aesthetic. If you listen to this soundtrack and don't hear the accompanying cacophony of other games, pinball machines screeching, and people fighting over who's next, you don't even understand. Sit down somewhere and sip your g fuel while waiting for your teammate to revive you in warzone as you browse tiktok memes you dorks, grown folks are talking

This is the most convincing post so far but I still hate it

Maaaan, it's great. Someone needs to be taken on more rides. Personally I love it when fighting games have that sort of up beat showy music. Kind of gives the impression of a big flashy event at a casino or something. Same reason I love 176th street from King of Fighters.

It's short loop though since you're not supposed to be on that character select screen for more than 30 seconds, if even that.
