Even when you just buy physical, all updates and DLCs have to go somewhere.
True, but I've yet to get to a point where I need a microSD card. This is what I own...
  • My Games
    • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
    • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
    • ARMS
    • Splatoon 2
    • Sonic Mania (digital)
    • Super Mario Odyssey
    • Xenoblade Chronicles 2
    • Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country
    • Mega Man 11
    • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
    • Super Mario Maker 2
    • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
    • Fire Emblem: Three Houses
    • Astral Chain
  • My Little Brother's Games
    • Overcooked 2 (digital)
    • Pokémon Sword
I still have a decent bit of storage left on my Switch, but perhaps I may get a 128GB or 256GB microSD card at some point.

Because of this thread I went looking for a cheap SD card on my local electronics store, and found a sandisk 256 gb, with 100 mb/s transfer rate, for just 30 €!
I got two, one for the Switch and the other for my wife's phone. :p

I have 128gb but it's way too low

I find myself deleting and installing games constantly

Unfortunately, 400gb is way too expensive here in Brazil

I mean, I'm not really judging you. I almost bought the 1TB micro SD myself when they came out. It's insane we can fit that much data on such a small thing.

It's magical. 1TB the size of an average thumb nail, maybe. Pretty sure I bought it during a holiday sale, so while it wasn't cheap, it wasn't exactly ludicrous either.

Yeah I picked up a 256 gb at launch.

It has worked out well as I currently run emunand off the SD card for emulators + homebrew and the 256gb leaves me enough space for plenty of games on my sysnand.

I got a 128GB a bit into the system's life. I'll buy a bigger one later but the 128 was at the sweet spot for price/size so I figured I'll just take that one for now and by the time it's no longer enough the bigger cards will be much cheaper.

the cheapest 200gb Sandisk I've found is around 35 EUR, still not sure if I go 128gb or 200gb.

Upgraded to a 400GB last Prime Day for $60 CAD. It's nice not to worry about space. I think I have about 250GB used at the moment.

128 gigs is not enough if you want more than a handful of big games installed at once.
Smash is over 15 gigs including dlc.
Zelda about the same.
Resident Evils, certain Final Fantasies too.
Not to mention The Witcher, Doom, Wolfenstein etc are all over 20 gigs.
Plenty more are in the 10 gig neighborhood.

I bought my Switch back in 2017 and have mostly bought 1st party physical games. However, now that I started buying a few digital games here and there it is clear that the 32gb internal storage is not enough.

I don't want to go overboard either with a 400gb but I'd like to know your experience.
How big is your microSD card? have you run out of space yet?

400gig the way to go prices cheap now

i am all digital no physical

I started going all-digital early last year. Upgraded from a 128 to 256 microSD a few months ago, but I fear even that won't be enough.

Two 200 GB miroSD cards: one in my launch Switch, the other in my Switch Lite.
I bought the first one in 2017 shortly after the console's release, for about 60/70€.
The other one (the exact same, from Sandisk) I bought in late 2019, for less than 30€.
It's crazy how affordable those became nowadays.

I got a cheap 128gb card. I'm 99% physical so I don't think I'll ever be able to fill it.

I bought a 400GB and am 100% digital. I have 100ish games on it but its close to capacity. Hoping 1TB cards start becoming more affordable soon.

Got a 256GB one just before launch. Not sure if TB is available yet, but I'd kinda want that and go full digital.

Had a 400GB and filled it up quickly so I bought a 512GB. Also filled that up quickly and switch back and forth depending on what game is installed on what sd card.
