I bought a 128 GB card. It is quite nice and I still have a ton of left space, but I wonder when I will use all of it.

What? No, if you fill up on your external storage it defaults to internal. And you can choose where to download in the options menu too.

I must look into this. I was under the impression that once a SD card is installed, the switch diverts to SD for game installation. Thanks btw. Might have to check this out. Didn't know you could change that in the settings.

I purchased a 128GB SD card at launch and still have 75GB of free space. I purchase the major titles physically and use digital for the rest. Back then, I mostly bought the SD card for NBA 2K18 which had a required a large install.

My usual recommendations are as follows:

128GB for those who prefer physical games but may dabble in the ocassional digital release.
256GB for casual digital only players or those who plan to only play Nintendo titles digitally.
400GB for hardcore digital only players

I didn't know that either.

All this time I would take out the SD card if I wanted a particular game to be installed onto the Switch memory itself.

At launch i started with a 200GB, and recently i upgraded to a 400gb. Mainly because i've been getting more digital titles and i don't like to delete games.

The pricing is getting better so i recommend people keep an eye out for deals between the 200-500gb range.

I've had no need for a microSD. Still have a good amount of space too. My games are:

Smash Ultimate
Breath of the Wild
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Super Mario Odyssey
Link's Awakening Remake
Shovel Knight Treasure Trove

Lots of the Wii U ports I already own on Wii U so didn't need to buy them a second time.

Get 256GB minimum and try to find a 400GB card on sale. 256GB often goes on sale for really cheap, I think I got mine for like $30ish. Sandisk 256gb is $35 right now on Amazon or $55 for 400GB, less than the cost of a game.

I've had a 200gb since launch, but I've finally had to start deleting things to fit what I want.

But I got a 512gb card for Christmas so I should be plenty good for the reet nod the time I have a Switch now.

I owned a 200GB at launch and upgraded to a 400GB card mainly for DLC add-ons and digital only titles.

There are a few games I have digital that did get a physical release mainly for the convenience of not needing to Switch carts and I can immediately load up and play.

With that said even with 400GB card I only have 113GB free, so I probably should just archive stuff I haven't played in awhile.

I just moved to a 512GB card, my 256 was full and I hate deleting games.

I just got a Switch a couple weeks ago and don't have a microsd yet. I have physical copies of Smash, BOTW, and Pokemon Sword. Only digital game I have so far is Cuphead. I don't really plan on taking it out of my house much so any games that I can buy physical copies of as opposed to digital, I'll go that route and save space. When I do get a microsd, I'd probably just go with 128 gigs. I don't think I'll need much more than that.

64GB and it was enough, I mostly go with physical and don't usually keep the games I've finished as I won't go back for

I bought the 256GB. I was tired of having to delete shit all the time, plus NBA 2k20 requires you to have one which is kind of absurd in hindsight but it's fun so whatever

128gb and I have a ton of space left because I just buy physical games when they are on sale. They fit nicely into my switch case so it's not an easy at all to switch games (no pun intended).

My Switch digital games are pretty much indie titles: Hollow Knight, Celeste, Ori, etc...

Mine is 400 GB and almost full. I do delete games but the big files I refuse to delete because my wifi source sucks too much and I don't want to have to redownload them later.

Mostly digital but haven't had to buy a card yet. I think I'm just getting to the point where the switch is full.

I buy a lot of digital gamres, though I havnt bough a game bigger than 5GB digital.

I've had a 200GB card since pretty much launch and I have managed to fill my card to the half so far..
So unless you buy a lot of bigger games I'm sure you will do fine with a 200GB card

The wifi source doesn't matter.
I'm on a wired, 400 mb connection and the downloads are always excruciatingly slow. The Switch's internet connection is awful.
And that's the main reason I want to get a SD card, because I'm tired of archiving stuff and waiting hours if I want to play again.

I just upgraded to 512 GB from 128. I have 336 GB's left, so it seems like it's plenty, but from my experience I always eventually need more room.

128 but I've never been in danger of completely filling it. I delete the larger games I complete (Xenoblade Chronicles 2, BOTW) and I've been digital only from day one

Haven't bothered to buy one yet.

Honestly, the prices on the eshop for a lot of the bigger games I want are stupid (Skyrim, Doom ÂŁ50, hahahaha, fucking no) so anything like that I'll buy physical, second hand so I can then trade it in once done.

Thus far I've only bought smaller size digital games (a few GB and below) when they're in a sale so storage has yet to be an issue.

I now have a 256GB card I've used for a while now. But it's definitely not enough, so I'm hoping to upgrade it, but preferably to at least 1TB, or even a 2TB when it finally exists and is cheap enough.

I also was one of the guys that bought a cheap 400 on sale back in 2018 lol. Very good price value at this stage, because above 400 it's sometimes still very expensive.

I have a 512 gb card and while I'd like a bigger one, it's not really possible to defend the cost of it.

256 GB for me and I'd say it's okay. I'm probably going to switch to a bigger microSD at the end of the lifecycle.

Started with 200GB, then 400GB, now 512GB.
All digital, upgraded every time the bigger card went down to 100$, so 1TB next for me. Have 60GB left, but only keep the games I frequently play and all multiplayer/online games.

I have a 400 GB and it's totally worth it. I can see myself upgrading in the future as SD card prices go down or if a Switch Pro hits.

One thing to consider: A 400GB card has only 360GB usable (200GB = 180GB, 128GB = 115GB etc). I would go as high as possible with the best $/GB ratio. The 400GB cards are often on sale.

128 seems more than enough unless you're one of those people who never uninstalls stuff 🤡

As someone who only has like 6 physical games i have a 256gb thats full. Going for that 512 next just because most of my games are huge file wise.

I have over 100 Switch games and only Smash is physical because it was a Christmas gift. My 400gb card is almost full and I'm waiting on a good sale to upgrade to 512gb, or even 1tb if they come way down in the next year.

I would recommend a microsd card to anyone who plays more than just 1st party physical games, which I hope is everyone.

I got 256gb first but filled that up pretty fast so I upgraded to a 512gb, I'm all digital and some games are very large, I don't want to fiddle around with archiving/re-downloading.

I have a mix of digital and physical and I bought a 128GB card at launch. I still haven't used all of it. I'd certainly have gone all digital if the games weren't more expensive than physical so 128 would probably not be enough by this point.
