First I've heard of that. I know if it's fulfilled by them it could be 3rd party but sold and shipped by them has always been only from them directly. Would love a link showing proof otherwise if you have one.

edit: I guess if you get one from there and want to make sure, just run H2testtw and that should validate that at least it's the right specs as sold and could help spot a counterfeit and allow you to return it quickly.

It's a shame I can't find the article. I feel maybe it was posted on ResetERA in the past?

In any case, Amazon gets its supply from many wholesalers, and there's no guarantee it's getting its SD Card supply directly from Samsung. In all likelyhood you'll be fine, but running H2testtw is a good idea.

400 GB for $56 is $0.14/GB
512 GB for $99 is $0.19/GB

So the 400 GB SanDisk is better value at the moment.

Yeah I found some stuff saying as you did that their inventory is now mixed in with others, so that's pretty terrible. Thanks for pointing it out, I would have never thought that could happen.

If I purchase a new SD card can I plug my old card into my laptop, download the Switch data to the hard drive, and then upload that data to the new card? I think this was answered in the affirmative upthread but I'm not entirely certain because I'm quite amateur at this stuff.

Yup that's all you need to do. It's nice that it's so easy, I've done it a few times myself because I keep slowly upgrading (and throwing away more money).

i originally had a 400GB but had to delete some games off of it so i upgraded to the 1TB and that will last me for a while till a 2TB model gets released.

Oh wow, it's really as easy as copy and pasting from one card to another? I've been debating upgrading from my 200GB since I've had to delete so much lately, so this definitely confirms that it's time.
Use a Windows PC if you can, a Mac file system can screw up the copy/paste.

On a related note, SanDisk has an official store in AliExpress. It's safe to buy from them, right?

I wonder if the Switch will support SDUC? The maximum of SDXC will be 2Tb, I guess we'll see them next year.

Per byte ratio right now, 128gb is the best I think. Unless you want to go all digital, that's quite a lot of space (for now).

I've upgraded my SD card 3x since owning the switch. Now I'm at 256gb and I've never successfully pulled this off. I have a macbook pro. Apparently it's a seamless process for PC users. I copy everything, match the folders, try to copy it back over. Never works. I go online to Nintendo's transfer method procedure and followed that. Nada. Ultimately, I always have to spend a day redownloading everything every time i get a new card.

I should probably get a 128GB. I don't have much need for a TON of space since i'm not all digital. But 32GB is small for these non-indie games.

for the people filling up 400GB, can I ask how many games you have? is it mainly big titles or a TON of indie games?

That's really weird. I'm gonna guess it has something to do with the formatting of the card? I simply copy the entire card in one shot in Windows File Explorer (right click the drive itself, 'copy') and paste it to a new folder. Select all that's in the folder, copy it and then paste to the root directory of the new card.

Possible dumb question incoming

Can't we just reuse the Micro SD card of the Switch we may decide to sell?

Probably not terribly helpful for anyone else, but I got a 200gb card for $12 because of an electronics store employee who I'm pretty sure was stoned and entered in the price wrong

400GB and 512GB micro SD Cards are more than affordable now and will last a good while

For what it's worth, over the years I've bought several SanDisk and Samsung Micro SD cards that were all sold & shipped by Amazon and they were all legit.

Wait for Amazon prime day next week, or black Friday if you can wait that long.

Best bang for your buck while having a decent amount of storage is either 200 or 256GB micro sd card right now. This is if you are going 50% digital or less and you aren't buying a crap ton of games.

Honestly you just gotta plan it out and buy an ad card that will last you for the entire switch cycle. Nobody wants to buy another card. It depends on how many games you are buying and what kinds.. because AAA games will take up more space, and even with some games with cartridges, you might have to do an extra 10-20GB download on the eshop. Games like nba2k19.

Also, I'd stick with the well known brands like SanDisk and Samsung. Be very careful with the lesser known brands.. there's a lot of fake ones out there too

These microSD cards always blow my mind with how much storage we can get on something that just feels like a little flake of plastic

That's the one that I current have (the Samsung 512). Though be warned: Amazon has their fair share of fake cards floating around. I'm currently having them ship me a replacement card; I ran a couple tests on the card and something weird has been up (write/read errors and piss poor performance).

After a few bad experiences with Amazon, I decided to only buy microSD cards from retailers /in-store (Best Buy usually).

My 200GB was full when I went to 400GB, now that's filling up too. Hoping I can make it until 1TB drops in price.

Now I'm having flashback to when I could get a 1GB pro duo card for $100 back in the PSP days. Score.

Still on my 200GB cart and plan to stay that way. I have used maybe half left. Helps to buy 50% physical

I finally caved and upgraded. Went from a 256GB to a 512GB that I snagged through Best Buy for $64 last week.

After I finished getting everything re-downloaded, I realized I have no idea what I did with the 128GB card I had in my Switch before getting a 256GB. The thing I hate most about how tiny they are.

It's a healthy mix. I have full retail games digitally. Mortal Kombat 11 is like 23 GB before the two monstrous patches, and even that's been archived. I currently have 96 games downloaded to my main Switch, ranging from super small indies to big budget AAA, with A Hat In Time currently the biggest game I have downloaded at 16.2 GB. I have ~200 digitally purchased, with more bought physically.

I also have a problem with buying Switch games when they're on sale or otherwise lol, so as long as you're not insane like me, you'll be more than okay with 400 GB.
