Tails is the king of Up-B potential.
It's the other stuff I'm having a harder time thinking of.

Hey, Smash Flash 2 Tails doesn't even have a recovery Up-B (he's kinda like Jigglypuff, where multiple mid-air jumps and a Side-B that can get some horizontal distance is supposed to make up for it). Maybe Sakurai will get creative like that too!
The best part is that he only posted the explanation in English; the ravenous western fanbase are the only people who would look that far into nothing.

On the subject of Mortal Kombat, Scorpion's Up-B would have to be his teleport... The tricky part would be keeping the gimmick of him always coming from behind the opponent. I guess maybe have it only do that if they're within a specific range and otherwise it's a normal teleport?

Sora has tons of Up-B potential, but I can't think of one thing in particular that would work. SSF2 gives him Aerial Recovery, but I'm not sure if Sakurai would do that. He has plenty of aerial uppercut-esque attacks or the ability to glide, but those are also pretty boring.
That would just be another tether. Best they could do to differentiate it is that closer to the stage it's instant and farther away there's a travel time.

No but seriously that discrepancy between Sora and Dante is nuts.
Surprised Crash is that high. Thought the remakes didn't sell that well compared to the originals. Also would have bet that Sora's basically their top wanted character now lol.

Not gonna lie, Slicer has an awesome design but also being locked onto a spinning screw only to have one smack you off of it before you can react is probably the most infuriating thing that can happen in Sonic 2.
Eh a character being compared to a general silent protag is already pretty bad and at least Joker has some style and fun voicelines. Like this character has the same level of personality as a purposefully modular character is not that great.
The insult to Kirito was being compared to a silent protagonist with no personality.
The insult to Joker was being compared to an adolescent power fantasy from a terrible franchise.
I'm not a Persona fan and that still feels really unfair... Though not inaccurate.
Personally I've started gradually replacing my memory of Kirito with SAO Abridged at this point.
Which thinking on it makes some interesting fodder for how to write Joker in Smash Bros fanfiction if we're following along on the path of this conversation.
Also Joker is voiced by Xander Mobus so he's already better than Kirito for that alone.

Silent protags in JRPGs are generally way better if they're portrayed as fucking weirdos

Not that I know of. I think it is the case where his voice became synonymous with Kirito and with Bryce being highly prolific in dubs, people can't unhear Kirito.
They're still doing stuff with it, last I saw there was a new anime airing? I don't pay much attention to that stuff tho so it might already be over
