So I was curious about the leak ahead of the Switch 2017 Presentation in light of Liam, and wow, this was spot on. Was Skyrim teased at the presentation, because I know MK8 was announced in a press release afterwards.
  • Has Been Heroes - Indie viking style action game. Being developed by Frozenbyte.
  • Fast RMX - Fast Racing NEO redone on Switch with new content.
  • Snipperclips - Small title that uses the two joycons for two players.
  • Super Bomberman R - Surprise!
  • Arms - Fantasy fighting game. All characters have long arms w/ different powers. TW101 Artstyle.
  • Disgaea 5 Complete
  • Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers - Port with new content.
  • Super Mario Odyssey - New 3D Mario title. Logo has a plane in it, implying a new flight mechanic.
  • 1 2 Switch - The Switch's minigame compilation.
  • Splatoon 2: It's A Sequel Now. You Should Buy It Now.

Don't take Liam Robertson's word as gospel. He might have insider info, he might not. He's been wrong before.

To be fair, a lot of people got smoked by Nintendo rumors back then. That said he was one of the main people pushing Star Fox Grand Prix, and seemingly stopped being a rumors/leaks guy after that. Ultimately though we really shouldn't be reposting him here considering the considerable grief he has directed at the community over the years.

Star Fox Grand Prix was fascinating.

also I was on the "100% fake all the way" side since the rumor dropped. Can't believe I was right on that matter lol. Probably the one time I thought this doesn't make any sense at all, I don't believe it.

Did people believe that?

I never heard of it before I started participating here, but that looks fake at first glance.

I know what you mean, but the speed at which it resets you and the lengths of the segments make it reasonably palatable. For instance, even with checkpoints I found DKCR and DKC:TF levels often much harder to get through.

Are you playing Switch or Xbox? I played on XSX and rarely felt like there was too much going on to see what to do, but a smaller screen might hurt the experience.

I'm playing on Switch on my big 4K TV so screen size isn't the problem. Ori has a lot of detail in the background, sometimes the foreground and while this is fine when you're just exploring, it gets in the way when you're expected to observe everything that is happening and make split second decisions.

I don't think the fast reload is a good excuse. Sometimes you literally have no time to make a critical observation so you just end up dying over and over again until your eye can pick out the detail you were missing. Had the designers given a little more leeway, it would cut down on the tedium while also still providing a challenge. The chase sequences I think also push Ori's gameplay past its limitations. Ori's platforming is floaty and a bit loose. He sticks to walls, either slightly or completely. However, the the chase sequences ask you to move quickly and with precision, something Ori's gameplay simply isn't cut out for. I died many times simply because Ori got too close to a wall and instead of descending quickly, he will stuck just for brief periods of time which is enough to kill you.

do we think a new mario will be shown? or do you guys think bowser's fury and the mario collection was nintendo's way of saying not to expect one this year?

I hope there's no Mario and Rabbids sequel. I'm still not comfortable buying Ubisoft products after their sexual harassment scandal. I know they just want people to forget, but I'm not forgetting.

I believe Star Fox Grand Prix was a thing but only ever existed as a concept art or a game pitch. One of dozens that get tossed around. Then some nobody gets a quick glimpse of it and then leaks it out to somebody believing it's a real game in development. That's probably how something like Pokemon Stars started out. Maybe an internal technical demo of Sun and Moon running on Switch. Someone thinks it's a full game. Then boom, it's an article on Eurogamer.

Almost every reputable insider was backing it. Peer Schneider, IGN co-founder, even gave some specific details about how it was "visually stunning" on a podcast.
Not entirely true. There were definitely some folks that said they had heard the rumor/info, but had not been able to verify it themselves. Imran for example iirc.

No matter what they show, I hope if they show 2 Smash characters at least 1 of them is like super amazing and gets a lot of people hyped and if it's just 1, the same thing. Honestly even if it was pretty good, Nintendo's E3 2019 probably wouldn't have been so well regarded if Hero was the only Smash DLC shown

If it aint on Switch I don't seem to care no matter how good it looks. Can't get myself excited for games I won't be able to play.
Even though I'll get stuff like Elden Ring, Tales of Arise, or Scarlet Nexus on PC, I'm with you for the most part. Even when I'm interested in those games on a fundamental level, my overall excitement has become less and less over these past few years, as I know experiencing these titles will be compromised by lack of time and convenience compared to playing on Switch.
So, yeah; It's gotten harder for me to get truly excited about non-Switch stuff, despite having the means to play on other hardware. But that's why I'm basically only waiting for those special few games anymore, like From Soft titles for instance, play those on other platforms and then basically go back to Switch fulltime.

I'm not saying they use all thegameplay mechanics of Starlink, but I think it'd be great if Nintendo game the Star Fox IP to this Ubisoft studio to make a full-fleshed out Star Fox game.The engine is ready. Just make the gameplay be more Star Fox-esque or something.

Starlink wasn't perfect, but it was good enough with promise. I bet this group could make a solid and fresh Star Fox game.

I am expecting the H2 line-up to look a bit like 2019:

Fire Emblem Three Houses --> FE4 Remake
Pokémon Sword/Shield --> Pokémon D/P
Luigis Mansion 3 --> Donkey Kong
Link's Awakening --> Zelda
Dragon Quest XI S --> Shin Megami Tensei V
Ring Fit Adventure --> a surprising family friendly game
Switch Lite ---> Switch Pro
Astral Chain --> Metroid V (core oriented game)
I'd take it! And gladly so.

This happens to me as well. I got excited watching the ER trailer yesterday, but the only way I actually get hype levels of excitement is with Nintendo games. Can't deny the Nintendo fanboy in me, I guess

Could never bring myself to buy starlink. I'm down with your idea though.

If I look back at all the Switch E3 presentations. In terms of new Nintendo game announcements we had

2017
-Pokémon (lol)
-Metroid Prime 4
-Kirby Star Allies
-Yoshi's Crafted World

2018
-Super Mario Party

2019
-BotW

2021 should match 2017 in terms of NEW game announcements from Nintendo. That's why I'm very excited for this direct and think it could be the best of them all.

Happens to me as well. I don't have a PS5 yet but my PS4 is just there. And not because it does not have games that I like. For some reason I hope those are eventually get released on Switch.

For me the problem isn't that games aren't on Switch, it's just that a lot of the big games in the modern gaming landscape doesn't do it for me

I have no interest in Elden Ring because I've never played a Souls game and I have little motivation to do so. I've watched a lot of gameplay of them over the years and none of them have looked very fun to me. A lot of games are just not in genres I care much about, whereas most of Nintendo's games are.

The Dragon Quest reveals from a few weeks ago looked cool. If we see the newest big Atlus game and FF16 I'll be interested in those. Otherwise idk. I'm more excited to play SNES and PS1 games I missed out on whenever I get around to playing them than most modern games, and Nintendo games are the only real exception to that. Really excited to play Secret of Mana, FF6, Suikoden I&II, and FF9 in the next couple of years (I spread them out over time so I don't just burn through all of the classics).
