Game Builder Garage offering mouse support has me dreaming of a new Mario Paint. I'd love to see other games on the Switch take advantage of that input method.

No disrespect but this is literally like the worst case scenario for me. I would lose all faith in Nintendo if this was the trash they put out for E3

When's the last time Nintendo released an actual new game though?

I haven't checked much online for the past few days. Is the pro announcement still expected before the E3 Direct?

How you feel if no new games were announced, but all games we know about get shown and will come out before next E3. So Botw2, Bayonetta 3, Metroid prime 4 and Splatoon 3 are all out by next June.
Damn a legitimately difficult monkeys paw for once.
On one hand I love 2D Metroid. On the other BotW2, Bayo3 and MP4 by next June (with nmh3 and Arceus coming in that time frame too), I would be buying more retail games in one year than I have since June 2019

Duck Hunt was a port of a real life activity that's thousands of years old.
And now my sides hurt

Direct predictions of my own, because why not lol:
  • Outer Wilds + DLC
  • Monster Hunter Stories 2 Demo
  • NEO The World Ends With You trailer
  • Pokemon Legends spotlight, five minutes long showcasing the mechanics and open world
  • Super Mario 3D World DLC, Toadette and new multiplayer challenge modes
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe getting new cosmetic items, including some from Mario Kart Tour
  • NES Remix 1+2 coming to Switch
  • Animal Crossing update with Brewster, Gyroids, and new minigames, coming this fall
  • Metroid V announced, coming this fall. September.
  • GB/GBA/GBC games coming to NSO, including Minish Cap, Metroid Zero Mission, and Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen
  • NEW 2D Zelda announced, developed by Nintendo, takes inspiration from the BOTW artstyle if not outright connected to BOTW. September. This is the main Zelda 35th anniversary title.
  • Age of Calamity DLC shadowdrop
  • Breath of the Wild 2 teaser trailer 2, 1 minute of cinematics and 30 seconds of gameplay. 2022.
  • Mario + Rabbids 2 trailer. Given that it was already revealed in the Ubisoft presentation earlier, it will only get a small showing.
  • New Donkey Kong game announced, combination of 2D and 3D levels. October.
  • Shin Megami Tensei V in-depth trailer. Releasing November.
  • Smash character is another JRPG fighter, deal with it.

I would love if any or a combination of the following were to be announced/shown:

Remakes / Ports / Compilations:

- The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons & Ages Remake
- The Legend of Zelda: Hero of Time Compilation (Upscaled Ocarina of Time 3D & Majoras Mask 3D)
- The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD & Twilight Princess HD Compilation
- Paper Mario 64 & Thousand Year Door Remake
- Chrono Trigger Remake

Sequels:

- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
- Mario Kart 9
- Super Mario 3D World 2
- Luigis Mansion 4
- Super Mario Odyssey 2
- Super Mario Party 2
- Metroid Prime 4
- Cadence of Hyrule 2
- Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle 2

New:

- Kirby
- Yoshi
- Fire Emblem
- 2D Metroid
- Mario & Luigi
- Advanced Wars
- 3D Donkey Kong
- 2D Donkey Kong

Realistically we might get a couple of games from those IPs but they might not be under the categories i assumed. For the past little while a lot of people have mentioned how it feels like Nintendo is holding back games in order to release them with the Switch Pro for the 2nd half of the Switch life cycle.

Hey wookiee! You good if I straight up copy and paste your OT into the next one? If you could shoot me all the formatting in a DM. I'll keep an eye on this thread and make the jump on it tomorrow afternoon.

2019 did have Ring Fit Adventure, too, to be fair. But yeah we really are reaching the point where EPD 3, 8, 9, and 5 (Splatoon 3) should have stuff out any time in the next 18 months. EPD 10 maybe a little later than that, and EPD 4 releasing a game very soon.

I never said anything about not counting RFA though, I was refering to 2020 + this upcoming holiday which would make it two in a row.

Something I learned is that when it comes to E3 predictions Nintendo fans are the most pessimistic.

It's not just that. There's a lot of people on here that will dismiss basically everything that sounds remotely good and cite Star Fox GP but will be 100% confident in their predictions that something bad will happen. There's plenty of examples since the beginning of this generation. Just off the top of my head:
- No towns in BotW
- Odyssey is an endless runner
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2 won't come out in 2017
- 3D All-Stars doesn't exist because Nintendo wouldn't bundle three Mario games
- No November game in 2020 for months before Hyrule Warriors was announced

And when those predictions turn out to be wrong, the goalpost moving begins. Don't be surprised if there's more of these examples (Switch Pro doesn't exist, Fucking Donkey Kong 2: Electric Boogaloo, 2D Metroid etc.) It's like there's a subset of this fandom that really only hangs around here to be negative because they are afraid that sharing any sort of positive or hopeful sentiment makes them look naïve or, god forbid, like a fanboy.

Meh. They're not even going to announce any new games. Just gonna cancel everything that's presently in development, including SMTV. "But the release date leaked," one brave reporter will say.

"Indeed," Nintendo will reply. "Hence, eradication."

Okay E3 predictions

Koizumi opens, says its been a strange year for everyone at Nintendo, but now with better times ahead we are expecting good things to happen. As a matter of fact, here's one thing that's good.

- Metroid V. The game takes place after Fusion. It will be a game about the Chozo. Everybody is hyped. Looks great. September 2021.

Koizumi remarks that the game is looking great and he acknowledges that people are waiting for more news on Metroid Prime 4, but Retro hit a snag thanks to Covid. Still, the game is shaping up quite nicely.

- Shin Megami Tensei V looks fantastic and gets a new story and first gameplay trailer. Worldwide release in November as leaked.

- A smaller reveal: Wario Ware is returning. Some crazy games again, and some use the joy cons in ways nobody would have expected. Releases soon, August 2021.

- Smash character reveal; it's Simon Belmont, and he's whipping away at zombies in an alleyway . Behind him we see Lucina slicing through zombies too, helping out poor Yoshi. But at the very moment a zombie wants to sink its teeth in Lucina, somebody yells get down! The zombie is kicked aside and the young man helping out remarks that the day is getting weirder and weirder. It's Leon S. Kennedy! His stage is the RPD and sometimes a random zombie wanders in and can grab players, just like the ReDeads in Melee. The trailer ends with Leon, Simon, Lucina and Yoshi fleeing into the RPD, but in the rain and Shadows a large figure with a hat is watching this and he moves away as the screen turns to black.

isn't this scary remarks Koizumi. But you know, Resident Evil has a special place with Nintendo fans. Please look at this trailer.

- It's the reveal of Resident Evil Outrage, or in this case Resident Evil Revelations 3. A continuation of REV 2, the game follows Claire Redfield as she is faced with new horrors and the loss of a trusted friend. Release in Q1 2022.

Here is a sizzle trailer; Ni No Kuni 2, Disgaea 6, Ys Monstrom Nox, Rune Factory 5, FIFA, Madden, Mass Effect Trilogy, some Ubisoft stuff…

And we're not done yet. Take a look at this.

-Splatoon 3 first full trailer. Introduced new mechanics, weapons and modes. More news to follow through the rest of the year!

- Pokémon Diamon and Pearl remakes small trailer.

- another new game: Donkey Kong 2D by EPD Tokyo. It looks fantastic. November 2021.

Another big trailer third party sizzle reel; Monster Hunter Stories 2, No More Heroes III, Yakuza Zero, (During this bit we can hear Nagoshi crying, apparantly), Sonic Colours, Disco Elysium, Tales of… game (not Arise), other Bamco stuff, Activision, weirdly other Take 2 stuff, plus some third party games which I did not expect.

- Oh right Zelda. So yeah Skyward Sword is coming soon!

- Oh right Breath of the Wild 2. October 2021

Sad that we Nintendo fans are so traumatized by their recent quietness that we're afraid to get hyped for e3 lol

I really wish people wouldn't make generalizations like this, and keep perpetuating a persecution complex that is one of the worst aspects of any fanbase.
Don't confuse impatience with trauma, for god sakes, even if it's hyperbole. It's why, though I may be a fan of something, I'm especially hesitant to be part of any fanbase.

Nintendo is a business that has, as a crucial part of it's operations, the need to appeal to as large an audience as possible, which means that their products and messaging will not always be curated directly to the people who watch the clock waiting for their glorified advertisements.

Nintendo, from a messaging stand point, has done exactly what they need to do this year. They did a Direct in February, showed their release road map into July. They have seven retail titles they have published or will publish across every month from February on, leaving March open as well for a big 3rd-party exclusive with Monster Hunter. Their messaging since than has been to advertise these games, as they have quite a few releases, and they need to remind the general public who is not always aware of this stuff.

E3 will be about the second half/ holiday for 2021 and beyond. The pandemic, if you haven't noticed, has made their announcements a bit more condensed from reveal to release, since operations are still a bit in turmoil (Japan is still struggling with Covid and a poor vaccination roll out.) The business Nintendo who needs to keep putting new products on shelves is not always going to align with Hype Machine Nintendo which has especially struggled over the past year for a number of understandable reasons. I think they will likely have a good E3, and again, show exactly what they need and are ready to show, and probably throw in some things for extra Hype points.

So ive almost got to the point where if BOTW2 is a no show i wouldnt mind much, thats only if there is a big first party surprise, or DK looks good. But overall im just glad to watch the E3 direct live for the first time, and finally get some good stuff to watch after the quiet months. If for some reason BOTW2 isnt there i think the rest of the direct will make up for it

Even though I mainly care about DK, Resident Evil and Botw2 and not the other stuff, I'd say this would be the PERFECT Direct. I wish something like this would happen
