Nintendo should keep an eye on what Microsoft is doing with the F2P multiplayer in Halo. Metroid Prime Hunters multiplayer bundled with Metroid Prime 4 but also a "free" version on NSO might give it enough of a playerbase to keep it relevant.

As much as I'd like this, Nintendo currently doesn't have a really good track record for live service/post launch content games. Animal Crossing is a best seller and barely getting any attention.

Alright every 2D Metroid game just magically appeared on my 2DSXL

What order do I embark on this journey, Metroid fans? I've never played a 2D Metroid before. I have:

Metroid (Some have said don't even bother with this one)
Super Metroid
Samus Returns
Zero Mission
Metroid Fusion

Skip the original, go Super > ZM > Fusion > SR.

which is to say, sleep deprived, delirious, sub-fresh, post-sense

I'm pretty covinced that the pandemic threw a huge wrench into Nintendo's plans for post-release support for Animal Crossing because it definitely wasn't an issue with Splatoon 2 or most of their F2P mobile games. I don't really know when or if we're ever going to see any substantial updates for New Horizons but even Mario Maker 2 got what I feel better updates despite them pulling the plug on the game rather quickly. A Metroid Prime multiplayer wouldn't be developed by EPD anyway and turning it F2P would imo give them more incentive to actually support it. But you're right that the Animal Crossing situation is pretty unusual.

I was sure Mario Golf reviews would release now, but I'm seeing nothing, so I guess not?

It's funny to me ho almost 15 years after the launch of the Wii people still use "waggle" unironically wrong.

And then I remember that people also use socialism wrong.

Do you know what you say to those people?

I honestly want a subtitle for the next OT that references Shin Megami Tensei V. Just to give a bit of oomph in the next thread. But I aint to creative today.

in uh game-related comments, I'm playing Timespinner on the Switch right now. Maybe I have niche tastes but I'm really enjoying it, and haven't heard like anything about it?

It might just be because it's a late port of a smaller title, those sometimes don't get a lot of attention.

I am currently playing Gorogoa. It makes my brain hurt.

I actually gave that quite a bit of thought last year but never pulled the trigger for whatever reason.

How good is it on a scale of of to Bob?

This is how I expect most of the Mario Golf reviews to go:

"Whilst Mario Golf: Super Rush nails its gameplay, and introduces some unique, fun new elements into the golfing genre, its lack of overall content and relatively simple-and-short singleplayer campaign holds it back."

I'd love to be wrong but it definitely seems like another 'Mario Tennis Aces' situation to me.

I randomly came across it last year on Gamepass on PC when I was looking for new Metroidvanias to play and I really enjoyed it! I was also surprised I had never heard anything about it.

Really weird Mario Golf reviews. Lots of high expectations from Mario Golf and its single player adventure mode

Camelot take years to put out sport games with very little content yet people want them to make a big RPG.

I know this is a fifteen year old meme at this point but HD games are hard and Nintendo teams (and Nintendo-adjacent) are stretched thin to keep up. A game like Animal Crossing took years with a sizable team and still came short of some's expectations, on top of the desire to see more content post release. With the way things stand you have to start accepting that Nintendo simply can't make these big games and a quick rate and full of content. Thank god for Bandai, and Koei, and all these huge studios that can lend them some manpower.

It has 6 full courses with more promised to come…wth more content do these people want? Looking at Mario Golf 3DS it only had 4 full courses and 4 half courses + dlc. In today's world 6 full courses + dlc is normal. You saw a New Donk City course is coming.
