Finalizing my upcoming kaizo level. Features three of my fav new elements in MM2: verticality, rising lava and the claw!

Not a huge fan of these types of levels, but for what it was it's good, some were hidden well with none feeling unfair

Thank you!

Feel free to try my second level if you like to solve puzzles! Its one of my old WiiU levels but i liked it so much i ported it over.

I enjoyed this! The sound effects as breadcrumbs were a nice touch that helped make things feel a bit more fair.

I just finished my first level. Please give it a try and give opinions. It's pretty much a traditional Mario level with no real gimmicks, since I didn't wanna get too crazy with my first try. It's called Deep in the Jungle. Feedback wanted!

Man, making levels with a controller is abysmal. Im sure it just takes time to get used to it, but holy hell, I dont think I will ever take the time to learn.

Ordering a stylus ASAP.

Also - the online lag is unbearable. How on earth does Nintendo get away with charging for Online when THIS is what we get?

Just finished my second level. I took me two days but im kinda happy with it. Its SMB classic level with the new forrest/cave backdrop im exploring the new dry bones shell but beware it has some light trolls.

i would love some feedback. Would be really happy if someone would give it a go.

My second level is Moon Zone 1: 6 Pink Coins - a remake of the first area from Super Mario Land 2's Moon Zone, with an extra area of my own making added: P50 XNY NQG

I think it works better than my first attempt. Be great if anyone has time to try it out.

I'm not a great maker but it's addictive. I think I must have spent 8 hours on it in total this weekend.

while I had fun in the first part, because of gravity on the stage it is kind of slow to get the coins, which is fine. But then I got to a part where lava started rising instantly before I had even time to react/gauge what I was supposed to be doing and boom, death and back to the start to redo everything, and with super slow falling speed and all, this isnt very fun to restart (Especially since I dont know if ill die to the lava again.. lol)

Fantastic level one of my absolute favourites. One criticism. The part where you have to use the pipes to use the fire to set off the bobombs at the right time? Instead of a question block giving the player a mushroom you should have had a pipe with infinitely spawning mushrooms. Very annoying when a fire kills you at the bottom as you're solving the puzzle. Give the player a chance to go back and heal. Having to repeat from the checkpoint got a little frustrating. But otherwise I loved every minute of it very clever.

Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to put another checkpoint there but I had already hit the limit. You are definitely right about having to do the "escort mission" again, it's not the best thing to have to repeat. I will try to be more generous with items in the future :D

Tried to make a really short pinball level - ML9-YJD-LVG

Bashed my head against Dan Ryckert's level for an hour and needed a break! Think I've got to the final bit of it.

How come my Goombas won't fly if I put wings on them? Or other enemies for that matter. They just fall. Its 3DW style it that changes anything.

My 3rd level(SMB3) a swing based level, the first part is pretty rough but once you get to the second part it becomes way easier (I keep messing up pacing like this, next time I have to switch them out to have a proper difficulty curve.. lol). I wanted to try out a vertical sub area. Comes with a little secret that isnt difficult to find

Swing Drop Frost
FK4 LGB RHF

I think I like this, but the level was causing me a lot of troubles.

I had issues with the claw spawning that wasn't consistent. Sometimes I could make a jump easily, other times the claws were desynched where a jump wasn't possible unless you waited a long time. I feel like the spawn area is too small for a lot of levels because this is something that I consistently run into.

I think having enemies is important, but the swinging mechanic takes away a lot of control from the player so I never could figure out how to avoid the spike tops/spiny beetles and would get hit 100% of the time.

If I only have interest in playing levels (Nintendo or other created) instead of building them, will I have fun with this?

I laughed my ass off when I saw Blue Toad's name, and of course the match immediately started running at normal speed without lag as soon as his corpse was off-screen. Going online with a connection like that should get your NSO sub revoked.

I really enjoy playing this game, brings back memories.

Looking forward to making my own levels sometime soon. Do any of you have any good recommendations for which stylus I should get?

I've designed this one to be friendly to all. Anyone who prefers looking around collecting coins and bopping things can do that, and people looking for a smoothly flowing speed run will find that too.

In the video you'll see me flowing through, but you'll also see the stuff that could be explored as I blaze past. There's a large timer.

Absolutely, it is like having an infinite Mario game. For the moment I basically only played the story mode and user-created levels and it would be worth it, then I am trying to create my own level but it is taking some time because I have to understand how the editor works. But absolutely, Mario Maker is not only about making, but particularly about playing. Then I suppose the community will be quite alive, so in a year' time I imagine there will be still new levels.

aww really? I playtested it a lot and it took me ages to finish it, I tried to add 2 wings on places where I felt it took too long otherwise.

To dodge the beetles coming straight at you, its a good idea to stay still and jump out this way, its way easier to control the jump and go back into the wings.

For the spinnies, I would say the same thing, dont move too much, take your time to dodge the bullets!

If you ever get to the checkpoint (and looks like you were close), the 2nd part is way different with the enemies and verticality :)

I've made a few new levels, but I'm still most proud of my Escape The Crane Game! level. You get shrunken down inside a claw machine and need to use the swinging claws to make your way out. When you reach the end, you're rewarded with 1-ups, coins and other fun stuff! I'm really proud of myself for this, and I'd love to get some feedback, and constructive criticism!

I'd be over the moon if somebody tried my level out, I just don't know if what I'm doing is fun and so I'd like some feedback. Thank you in advance to anyone who tries it out, don't refrain from letting me know if it's bad! Going to go through this thread and try everyone's levels to get some inspiration :)

The Starry Windy Night
TYP-YQT-M3G

I actually made this level without the wind element at first but I thought it actually complemented it quite well. The level gets a little silly towards the end, not sure if my ideas translate well, seems a little finicky.

Fun level! As many had said already, I liked the idea behind the Bowser "fight" at the end, but it's only until after he died that I realized what was going. Had no idea what I was doing during the actual sequence.

I just beat it, was pretty tough lol, but once I got the timing of those beat boxes in the end it was fine. Cool concept!!

Thank you for playing my level! I'll be giving your levels a try after I grab a few more levels from this thread.

1st one Nice jumping here gets pretty intense toward the end. Ilike straight forard and with a theme.

for the second one. The escape from the icicles was neat. but the gotcha at the end made me mad ol. I like the design here though. Decending through the cave was fun.
Thanks for playing! Yeah, I saw a lot of deaths near the end, lol. Not what I intended, but I probably shouldn't be surprised.

I scoffed at game explain's complaint about switching themes to 3d world then in my second level I build a full level only to realize the main thing the level was supposed to end on was in 3D world only.

Forgive me andre D:

Adding picture/s or a small clip or at the very least a screenshot of your levels profile page will benefit you greatly when presenting your levels to other people. You can avatar quote me on this one, if you like.

This level is alright. I have two main complaints though:

1) Checkpoint placement - a spiny comes flying at you after about 2 seconds, and is hard to react to if you restart from it. Checkpoints should always be in 'safe' areas.
2) Enemy spam - you chucked a lot of enemies on some conveyor belts, and it most cases, they just fell off the conveyor belt before Mario reached them.

Other than that, the level is alright. Not great, but not bad either.

Well, here it is, my first course ever in a Mario Maker game:
5YD-XHB-J0H

It's the Super Mario 3D World style with simple stuff. My Mario Maker course building skills will hopefully evolve in the next weeks.

Thanks for a playthrough and maybe a small review...

:)

Edit: Wrong code, mistook a 0 for an O.

That mood setting intro, this stage really made me see the value of custom autoscroll, i toyed a lot with autoscroll in MM1 but haven't even glanced at the improvements 2 has made yet.
Soon as I learned about scroll locks being destructible, I knew I had to give it a shot for something! I've basically been thinking of new things in MM2 and trying to create interesting levels featuring those. Auto-scroll levels don't have to be frustrating gauntlets or anything, and custom scroll only enhances the paths you lay out for the player. I only wish I had a more reliable way to keep players waiting at the end of my level without killing themselves XD

Had a level tagged "music" come up in multiplayer versus.

Gah. Why. There's no reason anything not tagged multiplayer versus should come up at all, really.

My 1st level on Mario Maker 2
It took me a while and I'm not very happy about the result but still
If we were in Maker 1, I probably wouldn't post this one, I'm learning the rope with the new game so might as well post what I have.
Level is basically a testament to how much more you can do in this one compared to the WiiU game.
Water still sucks as far as I'm concerned.
I also created a dedicated twitter handle just for gaming publications

T1Y-0NS-QYG

My maker handle is Mael64 that way cool continuity from my Maker profile in the last one
