Each month In the summer
85 when I'm not home, 78 when I am, 77 with a ceiling fan in the bedroom at night (I have dual systems, so it goes to 85 downstairs while we're sleeping).
And I still feel guilty using it.
My dogs are there. I'm not cruel.75 when I'm in the House.
Off when I'm not.
I'm not cooling a empty house, nor am I running an ice rink.
EDIT:
Why are so many people cooling an empty house? Just turn the damn thing on when you get home. You're just throwing money into the air, literally.
So it's mid July and I'm pretty much ready to die. Seeing daily highs in the mid 90s with ridiculous levels of humidity and I can't stand the heat at all, so I've got my thermostat set at 74. I wish I could raise it during the day, but my SO works nights and I can't keep her in straight up hell while she's home.
I think I'm going to slowly try raising it a degree every couple days. Apparently, it's recommended to keep it at 78 for maximum energy efficiency.
How are y'all dealing with the heat this summer?
This right here.
Currently set at 79. In an ideal world, my house would be at 70 year round, but since I can't do that, I sleep with a wind tunnel fan pointing at my side of the bed.
My electric bill was 45 bucks last month.
Very nice.Pflugerville Texas has a regulated free market of utility companies. Competition is good. Each household gets a contract, so I can get renewables 100% for 9.9.cents per key. Energy efficient house, double pane windows, insulation, radiant barrier in attic, etc.
