I wouldn't be worried about the Switch version. Lizardcube made Wonder Boy and the Dragon's Trap and it was perfect on the console.

Im usually not a fan of adapting old school pixel games into high res art (the dreaded "it looks like a flash game" style) but Lizardcube are now 2/2 in pulling it off. It's really the animations and detail that set it apart, just like with the Dragon's Trap remake.

Eurogamer - Essential

This is more than a mere revival of a once-loved series. Streets of Rage 4 is quite simply the best of the bunch.

Will try tomorrow on GamePass. But the graphics look like it's made with Flash. I don't know if i can get over that.

Reviewing pretty well.

Shame there are not too many Switch reviews and this is weird since you would think that's the system where this game is going to sell the most.

Anyone has any ideas for the OT title?

You take that harsh tone but, the fact is, the Switch codes were late. That's it. I desperately wanted to include it but it was not possible.
Oh, sorry. That tone wasn't meant for you. I was referring to how none of the video reviews (including Switch-specific ones) make any mention of resolution or performance compared to the other platforms.

....do you have me on ignore or something

NintendoLife reviewer played both Switch and PS4 versions extensively and noticed no performance differences.

No. Just saw your post after replying to another one.

Um, where does the NintendoLife review mention that? I just re-read it and saw nothing. I only skimmed the video review from them, but usually they mirror the written review almost word-for-word. Watching it in its entirety now.

My point still stands though. It's all too common for very, very few reviewers to ever make any mention of how a Switch version of a multiplatform release holds up resolution/performance-wise.

OH ok. Well, I know they're all the same resolution, based on what the developer is saying. Pixel resolution doesn't matter in this case but the art targets 1080p and that's what you get, apparently. They also said it's locked 60fps across the board but I'll put it to the test.

Ah, really? I hadn't seen any mention of the resolution anywhere up to now.

I was wondering if the art had been created for resolutions up to 4K and then displayed as such on PS4 Pro, PC, etc. I guess that's not the case here. All the more reason to get the Switch version if performance is equal. Thanks for the info.

SoR4 is better overall due to the refinement in the combat system. It might be the best brawler design I've played. Tons of depth that I still have to learn.
Dark1x, since you also worked with the PC version, did you notice/experience any slowdown at times? I've seen this a couple of times, on systems that that shouldn't have experienced it. Curious about that.

Thanks!

"Oh, and in case you were wondering, we've compared the Switch version directly with the PlayStation 4 edition, and the game runs identically on both machines (and runs in at the same, silky-smooth 60fps in docked or portable modes) – port specialist Seaven Studio has done a superb job here."

Well, that's good to hear. Thanks. I somehow kept missing that line in the review, and it didn't seem to be part of the video review.

If all versions are 1080p60 then the Switch seems to be the definitive edition to me since it allows for handheld play as well.

I'll never like the artstyle and i don't think it fits in a proper Street of Rage game, but i'm glad we got a good arcade brawler out of it.

I guess I'd still wait for what Dark1x has to say if you're concerned, but at the very least, Switch version seems solid.

I'm getting this day 1 but I can't decide on which platform. Outside of portability, is there any indication of performance parity or lack thereof?
