The formula of this show (Stranger Things) is sooooooo Mickey Mouse.

"hey remember that thing that happened last episode?"

QUICKLY CUT TO THAT THING WITH LOUD SCREAMS THAT ECHO WHEN SE CUT BACK TO PRESENT SCENE.

Or how about literally every scene using a pop song to transition to the next scene, only for it to be immediately faded out.

By season 3, the original main characters (maybe even the actors) become some of the most annoying little shits.

It's my second viewing of the season and I'm kinda realizing the show was never that good.

What you say Era?

It's definitly not a great show if you binge watch several seasons a a time. I watched every season when it came out and felt it was okay, but all the people I know that tried to watch it during this last year gave up at the beginning of season 3 when they realised the story did not progress one centimeter.
Hopefully S4 goes somewhere.

It's pretty good if you like the characters, but if you want a coherent story with some actual forward motion you're gonna be disappointed. We know no more about the Upside Down after three seasons than we did after two episodes.

S1 was great. Their response to the show was "wow, I guess people like 80's motif, let's take the entire 80's shtick, wrap it in an abrasive towel, and shove it up everyone's ass"

S2 onward is garbage-tier tv

Agreed. Season 1 was pretty good for what it was. Beyond that, pretty bad and annoying to watch.

Will in season 3: *Gets cold and rubs neck* that's literally all his character is now. Oh, and he's a big weenie.

I binged watched the entire thing last month. I noticed how every season it gets more absurd. Season 1 was pretty serious and dark, by season 3, the show seems to be more 80's adventure vibe.

I really liked the first season, and mostly enjoyed the second season, but by the third the formula had sort of worn itself out and I dropped it after a couple of episodes. The basic premise can only last so long before becoming stale.

Season 3 is un-fucking-bearable sometimes. Not that there isn't fun stuff in there, but Hopper regresses into a violent screaming shitbag. The kids are all fucking brats to eachother. The product-placement in the mall is convenient enough narrative excuse to help pump up the CG budget, but then they do a fucking New Coke ad in the middle of the episode for no good fucking reason. Like the lame nostalgia grabs were always cloying, but jesus christ.

The bit in the finale with the song was impossibly stupid, it was unrecognizable from the show that caught everyone's attention years ago.

I loved the first season...

Then seasons 2 and 3 were just shitting remakes of the first season with no forward progression. Fucking hated them.

This thread is Micky Mouse (I have no idea what that means)

Urban Dictionary: mickey mouse

Not real, invalid, fake, undeserving, lacking true value or merit, essentially an award or title given unfairly or unworthily. Commonly used by Twitter trolls to disvalue an award or championship mainly in sports. Originated from the NBA bubble taking place in Disney World.

Completely disagree. I love the show and it's probably my favorite of the last 5 years. It's full of great characters, excellent OST and cinematography, good blend of adventure and horror, and I love the way they go about doing homages to 80's film and tv while still doing their own thing. The characters are what really keep me invested in the show.

They do a great job balancing the emotional character beats while still keeping the show fun and intense throughout. One of my favorite moments from S3 was Robin coming out to Steve:

So yeah, I think it's a wonderful show and it's one of my all-time favorites.

Someplace Far Away
Few things have legitimately unsettled me like
when possessed Will screams from the fire
in season two. I have a decent tolerance for horror and the like, but damn, that scene made my skin crawl.

Don't know what it is about the show.

I liked season 1 a lot.
Season 2 was fine.

But i have no desire to watch season 3 and still haven't. I'm sure I will someday.

I enjoyed the series, but I would never want to rewatch it. It's the type of show that's all fluff, junk food TV. Some nice 1980's flavored Jolly Ranchers.

Season one was ok but it wasn't amazing. Just a decent nostalgia fuelled show.
Season two was so bad I didn't bother keeping up with it.

It's this.

Season 3 almost seems like it's intentionally going for a so bad it's good vibe, so it turns out decent I guess. Season 2 was just a waste of time.

Season 1 was mostly good because it subverted so many of the usual tropes, and for some reason the writers took the exact opposite approach for season 2 and it was horrible for it. Season 3 was only decent because it managed to redeem the story from the previous season, but it totally butchered Hopper's character for no good reason at all.

It was annoying enough to get through the first time around, definitely can't imagine I'll ever do a rewatch.

I haven't even watched the show yet and I can tell the OP would be unbearable to watch any media with.
