I kinda feel like this probably isn't the actual squad? Just because if they're building it out like Vermintide, the squad's going to need to be more diverse in terms of roles and visuals. These dudes all look the same. If it's an Inquisitorial retinue, I'd expect a Stormtrooper or two, but also stuff like a Commissar, a Sanctioned Psyker, maybe a Sister or an Assassin.

Still, excited as hell. Love Vermintide.
This could be the squad:

To be fair THQ wasn't in... how to say it....a good place back than so a sequel might have happened if THQ was in a better financial state. A sequel was in development actually.
True, sadly what we got from Relic under Sega was... Hmm... Sigh.

If it had sold better, Sega would probably have greenlit a Sequel. Who knows.

Ogryn! Could be fun. Brazier is a Hereticus symbol. Looks like a flame trooper, heavy weapons dude, sniper, and a poor bloody guardsman in t-shirt and flashlight.

Granted, this is concept art - could still be other stuff. These are still kinda samey. But I do like the Ogryn idea a lot.

Wanting to play as full on Space Marines when you can take on the worst the galaxy has to offer with your flashlights while protected by paper mache armour? Please. Imperial Guard for life (all 10 seconds of it)

totally. this seems like a perfect fit for a more horror oriented game and I'm pretty dang sick of space marines by now anyway

It's not like there isn't already an entire faction of normal humans in the universe that use Space Marine armor.
Well, sorta. Sisters get power armor, as do some Inquisitors, but it's not the same as Space Marine armor. It's sized for regular human anatomy, for one thing. For another, it doesn't have the same neuro-synaptic links.
What faction is that? Genuinely asking as I haven't come by such during dives into WH40k lore.
Sisters of Battle have power armor but it's not really the same.

Braziers are generally associated with the Imperial Cult as well.

Now don't get me wrong, a game where you played as Deathwatch jumping into nightmarish scenarios in a similar game to this would be fine.. but yeah, getting to play as the poor bloody guardsman is fine by me. I'll be quoting from my primer to inspire my comrades.
Hmm...

Not the Deathwatch but you get the idea.

I knew about them and yeah, not really same. Even SM recruits use advanced armors during their bringing up and training, but not all out SM armor.

I wouldn't mind some Sisters action in this.
I'd love a Sister tbh. Make her more melee-focused so she's forced to wade in and make use of the armor.

Current wishlist:
Stormtrooper/Guardsman (assured)
Sister
Commissar (preferably a woman, preferably more laid-back a la Ciaphas Cain, because I do love that character archetype)
Sanctioned Psyker
Ogryn

That's 5 just like Vermintide, covers a broad range of potential styles. Especially if they do the Vermintide 2 careers thing. So you'd have the Guardsman with: standard guardsman, stormtrooper (better weapons but less utility, maybe?), Sniper. Sister could be regular Sister, Repentia, and maybe a flamer-focused deal.

Ahem. That's Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM!!!

I think it's supposed to be Tempestus Scions in the video.

Nah, flak armour, regular lasguns, and a flaky flashlight. Only nice bit of kit is the plasma gun. These guys look like cannon fodder.

It's not like there isn't already an entire faction of normal humans in the universe that use Space Marine armor.

I literally can't think of a single guardsman who's had power armour. Even Solar Macharius had carapace. If they became part of an inquisitor's retinue then maybe they could end up with some.

They are some sort of recon squad for the Inquisition, but wearing standard Imperial Guard Cadian style armor.

Most likely they are just some troops the Inquisition sent in on a budget expecting not much. Like some Inquisitorial agent said "Hey, send some guys" and someone replied "say no more."

As for power armor, perhaps because it is a video game they may find some abandoned but as far as lore works you have to be expectionally rich to get power armor.

There was that other horde shooter 40k game a while back that didn't seem to get off and become something, this has a better chance hopefully considering the devs this time. Always wanted to get into Vermintide but never got around to it, might start fresh with this instead.

Oh boy.....time to go back down the rabbit hole of 40k lore videos on yottube again.

It's the next best thing to a Space marine armor so who cares? The option is there anyway since everything goes with Inquisitors.

Maybe they even go a different route from Vermintide with this one and don't have set characters with different classes but entirely interchangeable units, which would make something like Ogryns, psykers or commissars as unlocks possible.

Well this could be great. Nice reveal trailer, even if the life expectancy of those four guys should be measured in seconds.

Fuck yeah! I enjoy Vermintide but I'll always prefer 40k over Fantasy, so this is right up my alley. If it's the same quality as Vermintide I can see myself picking this up straight away.

One day we'll get the Eldar in a game like this. Let you choose which Aspect you want to play as and boom, there's your variety right there.

So in for this

Really enjoyed Vermintide 2 and I only played it solo lol. Hoping this time around I can convince my friends to play with me.

I love that we are getting more 40K games but I wish we could play as a Custodes for once even though that would make the game extremely easy and hard to justify lore wise. But a guardsman squad could be cool! Maybe you could pick from different regiments like a Tanith sniper or Catachan melee specialist.

Ehhhhh

Most Inquisitors won't work with Xenos like that. Maybe *one* Eldar or *one* Kroot, if they're moderately Radical. Kroot being more likely members of Retinues because Eldar are too constitutionally arrogant to take orders from humans lol
