Huh? They don't do that any more now that they have an anything goes policy.
I'm going to put it out there that I've taken in a bunch of visual novels but Flowers ~Le Volume Sur Ete~ might just be the best visual novel I've ever experienced. Although you should play it's prequel Flowers ~Le Volume Sur Printemps~ first as it's fairly good too and the second game spoils the first.

That game has underage nudity. Valve might be laissez-faire but that's too far for them. If they added that game websites would be accusing them of encouraging child porn. Not that people already don't that because of all the VNs on their store.
You didn't read the article. It's one scene, in a bath, where other games from larger publishers have shown far more. There's no reason that this game specifically, where this is the only scene that shows anything close to sexual, and is censored, should be banned when other - far, far more brazen games - get through fine.

And looking at the release dates on all the sites, it was released on Steam only a week after it popped up on GOG and their official site.

We seriously don't need bath shots of a high school and middle school girl, and I don't get why you'd be mad at Steam for trying to stomp out that kind of stuff.
Odd thing to say when the biggest category in the LGBTQ+ sale is "Romantic visual novels", no? They clearly don't generally have a problem with LGBTQ+ VNs.
They had an issue with the content of that game but have since approved the game. I see no problems here.
He's been claiming anti-LGBT bias on this thing from the start.
I don't get it either. It's clear as day why their first reaction was to block that shit.
Get In The Car, Loser looks very appealing. It's in my wishlist. Hoping it does great when released.
Buy Lucah yall....it's very cool to see it featured in this. It's one of the best games ever, and the queer angle to it isn't immediately apparent in its marketing or even until you're kinda far into it, but it's largely what the game is about and it does incredible things with it's narrative (and gameplay tbh).
Probably will grab Heaven Will be Mine finally, and that sale on 2064 is bonkers but I'd so much rather play it on switch lol...

the player character in Lucah (see a couple posts above yours) is canonically nonbinary! also I haven't played it yet so I don't know the full context but I think Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor operates very far outside of the traditional gender binary
No lie. Night in the Woods. Two main characters are gay and the story treats the relationship as naturally as possible. There is dialogue that explores their emotion in that and I, as a genderfluid type found it wonderfully compelling. Also main character stuff but I won't spoil.
It's great!
Heaven Will Be Mine is thematically all about love and solidarity between queer women, with two of the main characters being trans women.
Valve have banned, and continue to ban, VNs, a very small subset of which are LGBTQ+ titles.
This involves both 18+ titles and the more nebulous category of "all ages" titles that The Expression Amrilato falls under (the bath scene certainly isn't "SFW"), but there is nothing to suggest that Valve is specifically targeting LGBTQ+ titles.
So no, it really isn't ironic.
You said Valve is banning visual novels (both straight and LGBT+) but that's not true.
I am not saying that Valve is banning all visual novels.

Who in the world put Sweet Pool and Beyond Edem in romantic visual novel. Both ot this games are very "rapey" in their nature. And I also would not say that No thank you is good for same reason.
But really recommend A Newfound Courage, Night in the woods, and especially Solstice.
Also in this sale is not promoted at all in Russia (thank at least that steam still have discounts on those games). And saddens me that there are so very few games with gay male romances, looking at so many great games with WLW characters.

Why the hell is this part of the sale? It's a game about a boy crossdressing at an all girls school, similar to many crossdressing anime premises. Going off the reviews, it seems to touch upon transgender issues but the protagonist isn't trans. *facepalm*
The MISSING: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories.
It's a puzzle platformer. It's very dark and surreal. I'd call it a horror game, both in theme and atmosphere. It's ultimate message is positive though. I absolutely cannot recommend this enough if you want a trans themed game.
I love The MISSING but it's hard to recommend without a list of content warnings for trans people and others that have struggled with mental illness.
Particularly suicide survivors and those that have engaged in self-harm
Regarding the games featured in this sale, AS A RULE OF THUMB I wouldn't want to put too much of a barrier of entry as to what qualifies as LGBTQ+, because queer experiences aren't always consistent, and even "bad" games can be good if they help even one person.
So even if there are a few games that I'm like "...Does this really count", it's comforting that they're there in some sense. I just won't be recommending them. :P

Yep! The artist is pretty talented giving the character designs and overall art direction a distinct feel.
I want to get something during this sale, but I'm not a big fan of VNs. This looks more like what I was looking for. Thanks for the rec!
This isn't directly related to the sale since they aren't on Steam, but I also wanna shout out some LGBTQ+ games outside of steam. Specifically, anything by nomnomnami. They're all really cute VNs or RPGs (though exclusively story-oriented) that are all pretty short and sweet, and pay-what-you want. They feature almost exclusively wlw of some kinds. I can especially recommend her games in the Lonely Wolf Treat Series. There's 6 games right now, they shouldn't take more than an hour to complete for each of them and they tell a really nice and cute story.
As for the sale itself, I can recommend We Know the Devil for just being really cool and interesting as well as Heart of the Woods for being really cute and well-polished and well-written, as well as VA-11 Hall-A because I love the characters and the aesthetics and the soundtrack and the gameplay and gosh...
