Jett looked interesting. Other than that though… I remember the days when nearly all indie games Sony showed sparked my attention, now it's just nope. Especially the online/coop/battle royale stuff, is not the market already oversaturate or like can they find a big enough audience to go on for multiple seasons?

I continue to think this method of delivery just does not work for Sony in the same way it does for Nintendo.
This. It ain't workin. It just makes them look like they have nothing to show, which I guess is true.

What are you both basing this off? Because the viewing figures and engagement for these State of Plays is extremely high.

And isn't spreading your content across State of Plays every month to two instead of cramming it in one big show the exact opposite of not having enough to show? Eg having so much to show that you simply can't fit it into one single show, especially not with prolongued gameplay demos, and thus the need to spread it out.

Think about it, add the run times of all the State of Plays over the entire year, and they'll drawrf the average run time of a typical Sony E3 show.

I wasn't excited at all for this but had the time to watch and came away pretty happy. I was already getting Tribes for my son and I on PC. judgement looks great. DS directors cut looks like a lot of content. And Deathloop did absolutely nothing for me ALL THE TIMES we've seen it. It meant nothing. After today, I'm day one for that.

This was my favorite showing of Deathloop. Now it is basically a roguelite based Dishonored with a cool soundtrack and visual style. Also Sifi, Moss2, and Lost Judgment all looked very solid.

Well, that would explain why Sony decided to distance themselves from E3 week, they'd be ran over.
I don't think Sony lack the fire power for E3, they've distanced themselves for a long time from it, but this format is just not always working for them. At all. They still need their normal press conference, or they just need similar set up and use the first party games they have, like the Horizon deep dive.

Deathloop is a bit like Dishonored but with way more action focus and the stupid level restart mechanic on death which means that you'll be playing in the same place over and over again. Deathmatch isn't fun when played solo.
Still looks like a bad idea and isn't something which I would want to play.
Would very much prefer DH3.

Otherwise a couple of mildly interesting indies.

No wonder they've totally skipped E3 if that's what they are ready to showcase right now.

The views are high because people don't read the blog posts that say what wont be there and watch expecting to see games they care about.

I mean, they told you what will be there. People on here and Reddit, as per usual, hyping themselves up to the moon.

yup! Gary Whitta said it best on Kinda Funny this Week in regards to the Switch. People read rumours, get hyped than when what they want isn't shown cry like babies and blame the company. Well as he also said, it wasn't them that started the rumour or the hype. So people only have themselves to blame.

we were told what was coming yet people still want more and more.

More info about Jett was awesome. It has shot up super high on my wishlist now. I am all about what they showed for that game.

Sifu and Fist look pretty darn good too.

Great showing for indies.
Yup, I'd give it a B, great indies that I'm especially buying and I'm also in for Lost Judgement and Demon Slayer.

I'm so in on Deathloop. I think they're marketing it like crap. They need to show what the game is like to actually play, literally from the menu to a death. Stop hiding the UI, etc.

But I love the concept of the game so much, a Roguelite Hitman-esque open world that's several hours long and ripe for replaying over and over?

Deathloop feels MADE for me.

They really did push it back. Good lord, I'm never even remotely hinting anything ever again

No worries, I would suspect they're building towards a bigger event between now and September. We know God of War and Horizon will get more info revealed this Summer, GoT Directors Cut will have more info revealed before launch and there's a buttload of other titles.

I'm putting my money on a PlayStation Experience event that's considerably larger than a State of Play.

As for this event, it was nice. Definitely want Death Stranding DC and SIFU. As for Deathloop, the gunplay looks clunky to me. Don't think I'm on board with that.

Jett is the real MVP. Sifu looking great as well.

Had a real hard time following Deathloop. The design seems interesting and I believe in Arkane, but it's still so hard to judge how it will actually play.

None of these indie games were new tho. They were all announced and showcased extensively before. This isn't doing more for indies.

And all of them were not the kinds of indies that might struggle to pay for substantial advertising.

People really need to start understanding that "indies" are not a monolith, and that Playstation treating some of them well (i.e. the ones with relatively big budgets and/or a lot of prestige behind them) doesn't mean they can't do better overall.

The loop aspect is somehow the least interesting part about deathloop for me. I'm kind of worried that you'll have to replay the same mission over and over

They've made it pretty clear that State of Plays aren't their big shows. Assuming they have nothing else to showcase soon seems a little premature.

I really don't get the complaints it's the exact same thing as a Nintendo direct without a Japanese man snapping their fingers between segments…

All Deathloop gameplay displays this intense intimacy with this wide breath of mechanics and seemless switching between stealth and action, it's straightup intimidating. And that is a problem because I KNOW these mechanics from Dishonored and I KNOW that I would have trouble playing the game this way.

But it's still a game that screams BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME, so unless reviews are shit there is no doubt I will get it asap

Embarrasing event. At least they got my interest on Deathloop, by I'll play it best when it hits Game Pass PC at no added cost.

I appreciate that <3

And yeah, I agree. Death Stranding and Lost Judgment look great to me. SIFU is pretty intriguing. I can't say Deathloop has hooked me but I wish 'em success. That's a great studio.

They actually showed more than I was expecting.

I've been pretty out of it in regards to Deathloop, but I'm so excited. So seeing the bit of gameplay was good for me, looks like a traditional Arkane experience to me.

I do hope that's the last we see of Deathloop in marketing at events/shows/whatever Sony does now though - There really isn't anything they can show of it now that would change peoples minds one way or the other, so they need to let it do what it does in September. For me, it went from a pretty optimistic buy, to a definite pass as we've seen more (and more...) of it.

I liked the look of FIST and Judgement a lot, though I hope there will be JP VO for Judgement, hearing American accents for a game that's set in Japan is a bit weird.

It's not just blog posts though, it's social media posts etc too, whether on Twitter, YouTube and so on. But even then, I'm not sure that outside of ultra enthisiasts, most are actually disappointed. Just look at the like to dislike ratios on this thing. 23k likes, 1k dislikes.

I think most gamers are just happy to have more gaming content to see, and don't really have the tentpole E3 expectations that many on this forum etc appear to have.

Unless I've misunderstood, Deathloop is a single open-world. You won't be playing individual missions. The game is a Roguelite but with Hitman aspects to get your kills in multiple ways.

Era: Sony needs to do more for Indy Devs!!!

Also Era: All these Indy games look like shit!!

And yes, Sony does need to do more, but fuck if this sect of Gamers aren't impossible to please lol
Once again for the people in the back: Sony's issue with indie devs was never that Playstation doesn't release indie games, lol. To think that 10 minutes of trailers for high-profile indie games is a counterpoint shows a fundamental lack of understanding of the criticism in the first plact.

Have you seen any Nintendo Directs? Even the worst ones in recent memory have had a lot of new stuff to talk about, and they've literally never been-and-gone without at least some substantial first-party content. Sony's State of Plays are equivalent to the Partner Showcase Directs we got last year with a few higher-tier indies thrown in.

Also what's with the "Japanese man," remark there? It's kinda weird lol
