State of Play this Thursday 2pm PT: Deathloop Deep Dive, Indies and Third Party games

I was actually interested in Deathloop but the more I've seen of it, it just looks boring. The fact that it has one "solution" to the loop also just makes it a one and done thing too. I've no idea why Sony are pushing it so hard, especially now it is essentially an MS IP...

I actually enjoyed the rest of the SoP though, and I honestly think they'd have done better just dropping Deathloop to a 1 minute show off and putting an extra few indies instead.

I get what you're saying but I'm way more interested in Deathloop than any AAA headline game this fall. I know its easy to bag on the game but I thought that was actually a nice slice of the game there.

I at least expected the selection of indies to be interesting. MS had better variety when it came to the indies they showed.

If it is 8 targets and one map it just doesn't excite me as just look at a guide to do it first time etc and don't know how that can take up more than 10hrs of gameplay?

To be fair, if someone hasn't seen even one game she/he is interested in, then why would the person like the show? I get it, often things get overhyped, but at the same time I don't think people should pretend to like the show when there was nothing in it for them. Perhaps I am understanding you wrong.

I like 3 games out of the show. Judgment, the fighting game, who's name I always forget and Deathloop. The rest isn't of any interest to me.

They showed pretty much exactly what they said they'd show, which is fine. A few of the games looked decent (Jett, Fist, Moss 2), Death Stranding Remaster had way more new content than I expected, Deathloop looks interesting but is definitely a wait for reviews or Game Pass type situation. Overall, the show was a what it said on the tin type situation.

Deathloop just looks a little too slow movement wise, kinda killing it for me, the movement is very similar looking to Dishonored and I know people can move super fast with it so maybe it's just a player problem, but I played the Dishonored games very slow and pretty much avoided all non essential NPCs, so I'm not 1 of them and Deathloop seems aimed for them.

Jett looks pretty neat.

That Rabbit game... thingy. Looked like it could be fun.

Just an incredibly dull event. Those indie games were indeed indie games. I don't think any of them look particularly interesting and Sifu looks very one note.

Was kinda hoping the indies/third parties would be like... new stuff not games that were shown previously already. Moss 2 was new tho so that's cool.

That's cool and all, but I'm not liking the new format Sony has going on. Maybe old habits, but I was really looking forward to a hour or more of awesome trailers to look forward too. I don't mind seeing things a year or two out. I for sure thought Sony was going to do something showing off FFXVI, GoW and others surprises. Most these things have become wait and see the news when it comes out type events. Maybe that's just how it is for now given the unpredictable nature of developing during the pandemic, but I hope to see a more traditional show in the future.
