I'm sure this is just because, due to covid, Sony have less to show than they normally would. Many of games released recently were so close to completion when lockdown happened that they could still support the initial launch window. But now they've run a bit dry after the delays.

It's no biggie. Xbox only had a full show after fully joining with Bethesda for the e3 showcase. Without covid I'm sure they'd have had 2 shows worth of content.

So yes there's less than usual, but itll be good stuff.

The indies Sony picks all have high production values.

I think this is fair, but I still wouldn't be surprised if there is a bigger show later in the year once God of War has gameplay to show off and they can build off that. I mean, Sony has a big 2022 even if nothing else gets announced (God of War, Gran Turismo, Forspoken, FFXVI) so at the least they could show off more gameplay from each of those. This just seems to be a typical State of Play to show off some of the releases coming in the next few months and likely fulfill the marketing contract they have with Arkane for Deathloop.

I think a lot of people are excited for it , its just post E3 season people wanted Sony to show one of their big games that we still don't know a lot about in a 9 minute slot like that not something we've seen 6 or 7 times now since the PS5 was announced.

Personally I'm excited for Deathloop and this 9 minute section of gameplay and I'm also looking forward to the showing because theres still most likely going to be a bunch of cool games in it and possibly even first party stuff but I can also understand why some people are disappointed.
yeah, i'm more excited for these 9 minutes than i was say for the horizon: FW showcase, but i'm even more interested in what might be shown for the rest of those 30 or so minutes.

I always want to want Maximilian streams of these on the off chance that something Bloodborne or FFVII is announced just to see him lose it

I'm gonna guess the reason Sony doesn't invest much in their Indie support department is because of the lack of enthusiasm for Indies from their audience. People on PlayStation only seem to want AAA so it must not seem worthwhile to put money into marketing anything else. And this in turn hurts Indies even more. It's like a vicious feedback loop.
i think we'll see a lot more improvement with sony and indies behind the scenes over the next year/couple of years, but i've personally appreciated how MS/Sony/Nintendo do generally make an effort to include indie titles in these sorts of showcases. always room for improvement too, so i'd like to see indies get even more love this gen.

Going to be nice seeing Ni No Kuni 3, Spyro 4, Yakuza Ishin, Super Stardust HD Ultra Deluxe Definitive Edition, and World of Final Fantasy 2 in this State of Play.

Deathloop should be neat too.

They will highlight indies more as development slowed down the last couple of years. You can't keep showing the same games over and over, and they still want to be active throughout the year showing content (multiple State of Plays per year).

I expect nothing and will be playing Rift Apart during the SOP. I am sure it will be a fine show.

The only thing I'm personally interested in is Death Stranding DC, but the description makes it seem unlikely it'll be there. I'll still check it out and be pleasantly surprised if it's there.

Midgar, With Love
Someone's getting quite confident

Nah, I haven't heard anything new in weeks. I still know what I knew then -- that XVI should be getting an update around this point! Haven't heard anything about it being rescheduled but after all the Switch Pro wildness this week I really don't want to say anything 100%.

I'm excited for Deathloop but I feel like I've seen everything I needed to. Don't know what else they could show me because it feels like they've explained the game perfectly well

Forget Jimbo. This is what I expect.

-Demon's Souls: Director's Cut (6th arch stone added)
-Destruction AllStars: Extra Twisted Edition (Sweet Tooth dlc)
-Playstation All Stars Battle Royal (actual BR beat em up in 3rd person)
-Killzone: Liberation 2 (Vita 2 Launch Title)
Bonus:

BloodBorne Director's Cut (Xbox Series X exclusive due to 2TB extra juice. Also Game Pass day0.)

Acquisition:
-Blue Box Games (Secret game tba)
-Bloober Team (to take over Secret PS5 game aka Siren)

Special Guest: Mark Cerny strutting Booty Shorts for the last minute of the show. Whispering also included for full 3d sound bliss. (Maybe a hint to their VR Cerny game AMSR in hot tub)

At least the Cerny bit is exciting.

Assuming a Deathloop "loop" is potentially as short as I'm imagining, I'd love to see a short (failed) loop as an actual gameplay demo today. I'm pretty tired of seeing the same sort of freeze-frame overview trailers, even as someone already sold on the game.

Not getting my hopes up for anything exciting. Isn't Deathloop (which doesn't interest me) supposed to be the "big" thing in this?
