Jeri Ryan and Brent Spiner are in the trailer!
One step closer to bringing this to life:
This seems like a perfect opportunity for me to cross-post my summary of the amazing "Hive" comic that's included in that Bundle from the Dumbest Moments in Comics thread.

It's the 29th Century, The Borg have assimilated the entire galaxy, with the last remnants of resistance having been wiped out a century earlier. Locutus, sitting on his floating throne, has realised that it's all actually a bit shit really so decides to do something about it, so he flies off (Oh yeah, Locutus can fly now) to a room where he's rebuilt Data in order to put things right.
Meanwhile in the 24th Century Picard is busy boning Vash when he realises The Borg are coming back, so he heads back to the Enterprise and off to Starfleet, where a damaged Borg armada appears and asks for help to defeat a new enemy from another dimension that the Borg cannot defeat or assimilate and that isn't Species 8472.
Turns out Seven of Nine went back to the Borg as a spy and let herself get re-assimilated but with an implant in her brain to keep her individuality, and now she's back on the Enterprise to help out.

Meanwhile, back in the future, Locutus and Borg Data are off to kill the Borg Queen, but first they have to get through Seven of Nine who is now the Scorpion King, presumably because she defeated The Rock in an episode of Voyager,
th

Fortunately they're able to beat her when Locutus rips one of her legs off while Data just strangles her to death.

Meanwhile, back in the present, to everyone's surprise the whole thing was a Borg trap and they actually created the alien race as a trap. At this point Seven of Nine sprouts spider legs from her sides,
StarTrek_TNG_HIVE-03-pr_Page_3.jpg

Meanwhile, in the future Data and Locutus encounter the Queen in her new Bikini power armour,

Fortunately Locutus and Data can create Iron Man suits from the walls for themselves using their Magneto powers,

So after a battle, the Queen rips Locutus in half, Data stabs her, then Locutus rips her head off to send Borg Data back in time.

So the crew take the Enterprise into the Borg Armada, beam aboard the Queen's ship and Picard lets the Queen try to re-assimilate him. Fortunately Seven of Nine is now naked and living inside of Picard's head and protects him, causing the Queen to overload.
Seven then transports as many Borg survivors as she can to the Enterprise before the whole thing explodes and Seven dies back aboard the Enterprise.

To thank her for her efforts the Borg she rescued are given a colony of their own with possibly the shittest holographic statue of Seven of Nine that could anyone could possibly make,

You will be shocked to learn that it was written by Brannon Braga.

Thought we'd get Picard this fall, but I guess it's just Short Treks. Discovery isn't as far along in filming as far as I know.

Going back to the Borg well is disappointing, but on the other hand bringing back Jeri Ryan is interesting.

Is there a show this fall? Discovery S3?
Don't think so. Discovery just started filming. There might not be anything this fall unless the Nick show is farther along then anyone really knows. It might just be the Short Treks and then lead into Picard and then we get Discovery season 3 with Lower Decks mixed in there.

They're really going to make us wait for this trailer it seems.

Wasn't the order always intended to be Picard > Discovery S3 > Georgiou spin-off (with Lower Decks mixed in somewhere?)

I'm curious where a Pike/Enterprise series might slot in now, as it's clear with the Short Treks appearances and verbal teasing that they're going to run that one into production sooner rather than later. Maybe it'll happen instead of the Georgiou/Section 31 thing.

So... I guess this is following up on those threads from the Countdown comic where the Romulans were experimenting with Borg tech

I believe that's the filming order. After Discovery is done filming the Section 31 show is to start filming but I think they said that doesn't mean Georgiou would be there right away. Though that's likely said because they don't want to spoil anything about season 3 of Discovery. So while that show is filming Picard could be finishing it's run. Discovery could be starting up with Picard season 2 going into pre-production. There are going to be gaps here if the cartoons don't fill them along with Short Treks.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Section 31 and Pike show end up being the same thing just two sides of the same coin to add more variety.

I skipped Discovery but will probably get All Access to watch this and double back on it.

All part of their plan. :)

Give it a shot and let it tell its story and enjoy!!!

He's in it. And Riker and Troi were confirmed by Chabon

Ah, I'd seen the news about Riker and Troi but hadn't seen the news about Jonathan Del Arco. Cool!! Maybe we'll end up with an appearance by Alice Krige as the Queen again at some point. Will be interesting to see the design for Borg in this show if we see them fully "garbed" (though I guess Hugh would still be full Borg? I can't recall how he ended up in TNG).

Also, cool to see Harry Treadaway in this, as I hadn't really caught him in anything since Penny Dreadful. I thought I recognized him in the trailer.

I hope Seven of Nine decided to take a more human name after a while and so in this show she's just called Janet.

She acts more human and seems to have dropped some borg mannerisms but the character is known as Seven. So maybe they'll go with Seven Hansen, having her return to a human surname but keeping her borg first name.

What threw me was the accent Seven had in the clip. It's clear she's drastically embraced her human side since returning to Earth.

If I'm remembering correctly I think Seven's actual true name is Annika Hansen.

I know, I was mainly making a joke about her potentially have some bog-standard earth name now that she goes by instead of Annika or Seven.

I'm surprised we haven't gotten a video of the hall audience reaction to the trailer. At least I can't find one. Even the video posted on twitter of the entire panel has the trailer cut out of it.

Np. Yeah they usually cut out everything trailer wise in these panels, even the reactions it seems. It sucks. I would like to at least hear the crowd no matter how loud or not-loud it is.

Kurtzman wrote the Countdown comic and he runs the entire franchise now. So even if Countdown isn't directly addressed it's at least a good reference point for where he sees Picard and co post-Nemesis and how they bring back Data.

I think the Countdown comic already has Data back doesnt it? Seems like the Picard show will be the one dealing with that here (if he is properly brought back) so that would already take it out of continuity.

It did, which is why I'm increasingly suspicious that like... certain elements of it will be borrowed as a general basis/explanation, but others discarded. Like, Nero's ship is very implicitly Borg in origin, but since it's not explicitly so, they can tweak with it.
