the op saidAnd I just saw open spoilers. Can spoilers tags not be used for like the first day at least please. So those of us outside US don't click and do what I just did.
Same with Picard and Lower Decks, spoilers are ok after the episode drops on Thursday. I am avoiding the thread myself until I can watch
"Whereas The Burn is the best thing that ever happened to me" no-one talks like this. The burn was over a century ago. This guys great-grandfather might remember it. Modern day war profiteers and bandits don't say "World War I was the best thing that ever happened to me"

Or people could spoiler tag stuff for 24 hours which is no effort.
Good second episode, feels like we're just waiting for it to really kick off though. There's so much we don't know so I hope we aren't going to spend too long not knowing what's going on in the Galaxy.
On a different note, why isn't Discovery in 4K yet?
Loved it, tears and all. My only ever issue was the odd change to klingon hair or lack of in the first season after so many years. So what are people thought on Disco up until the end of season 2? I personally loved it. The cast are fantastic, I can't pick a favorite, most of the episodes were great as well.
The final battle was one of the most exciting big scale battle I've seen on tv in a while. Very excited to start watching season 3.

Really good first couple of episodes. Enjoying the future imperfect a lot, it makes the Federation principles of the main cast stick out very nicely. I think this'll scratch an itch people might not really be aware they had - seeing something good be born out of something bad. God knows I could use that after this disaster of a year.
Reno is my favourite crew member, honestly. But her deal is she mixes sarcastic remarks with frank statements without changing tone. If you're not paying attention, you don't know where the joke ends and the sincerity begins. Is it me or did all the jokes, the engineer whose name I will never remember, especially, fall flat?
Her back hurts... ha ha?
Replicators have the benefit of being hooked-up to a large starship with banks of resources. This was a tabletop device.Programmable Matter is a cool visual effect for sure, very "future-ey" but like...the Federation has had replicators forever. "We can arrange atoms to fit any schematic" is not new technology lol
EDIT: Okay its not widespread by the TOS era, but I gather this Programmable Matter is supposed to look impressive to us, the audience who has seen TNG and everything else and it...doesn't really. Very cool appearance though

This is already way way better than Picard or Lower Decks.
Discovery continues to be the best CBS All Access Trek show.
Haven't seen this episode yet but honestly Lower Decks probably had the best first season of any Star Trek show. That's probably a pretty low bar but still by the end of the season that show really found itselfThis is already way way better than Picard or Lower Decks.

I did not like Lower Decks at all 😂Haven't seen this episode yet but honestly Lower Decks probably had the best first season of any Star Trek show. That's probably a pretty low bar but still by the end of the season that show really found itself
Someone on YouTube argued TOS has a better first season but I almost don't think it counts. lolHaven't seen this episode yet but honestly Lower Decks probably had the best first season of any Star Trek show. city on the edge of forever
space seed

Was in the Netflix version (UK).Did I miss Saru using his stingers or was it cut from the episode? I'm watching Ready Room and they showed a clip of him using them in the saloon and I don't remember that happening.

Definitely in there. He does a little hiss when he uses them, front and centre.
Guess I blinked, lol.
Is there a preview for that episode I can watch somewhere? We never get those on Netflix.
Yeah it's almost unfair. lolHmm TOS Season 1 includes
But it's also 29 episodes compared to 10 for Lower Decks
