Square Enix need to be called out for NOT adding trophies to any of the expansions to FFXIV. Thought they had to add them by law if its paid content?

'Law' is an amazing word for it ha.
As far as I know, I don't think theres any obligation for DLC to provide trophies and its entirely down to the devs, in this case SE.
Only hope really is to make enough of an 'outrage' in the hope they'll consider adding them soon or for next expansion.
It would add some extra work and stress, but personally I appreciate the extra trophies when they're added.

If i remember correctly this was adressed in a old, Live Letter, the proceess to make trophies arent easy(development time), they require time and be tested if a new patch doesnt broke how to obtain an old trophie and other stuff.

So they decided to focus in what really matters, the development of the game.

Also it doesnt seems you have even platinumed ARR.

Yeah but that's not really a good excuse coming from Square Enix. That was said more in a way to shut up everyone.

The way I see it a lot of other MMORPG's on as big scale as FFXIV (some from smaller developers too) have trophies added to their expansions. Like Neverwinter Online, Warframe and Elder Scrolls Online to name a few. They've managed it so why can't Square Enix. WoW even put in retroactive achievements and those didn't break the game.

Square Enix's excuse is just lazy can't be arsed kind of thing showing their development processes are out of touch just like how the development was handled with FFXV. But that's another story.

or lazy as in 'i didn't know one of my favorite games features an in game trophy system with rewards' ?

Why do people take those things so seriously? I would rather work on not giving a fuck about meaningless achivements. :) I don't have one Platinum or 1000/1000 game. If a game has cool and meaningful content I will play it regardless without needing a worthless motivation.

Its frustrating but I don't think platform holders should have any role in what developers should do. Consoles have been really pushy in the last 2 generations. Remember when achievements where a fun extra and like not the reason to play a game? When steam and Sony added them I realized how awful an idea they was.

But that's just me, I'm old. Only replied because I found "law" funny.

It's so wild that you use WoW as an example of an MMO doing achievements right (a game which uses its own internal achievements) while denigrating FFXIV for doing the same thing.

Dark Souls 3 had no DLC trophies for Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City, I found it inadmissible so I contacted the Ministry of The 100th Platinum Trophy and they... didn't do anything.

Weird how OP is OBSESSED with trophies coming from PSN, but the actual in game achievements, of which there are hundreds, and give you actual things, he hand waves away.

Also funny how people continually ask "how hard could this be to put in a game"...dude have you even coded a webpage before? Making anything work in a game is difficult and costs time and money.

I wonder if anyone in the history of gaming message boards before this were ever banned for trophies and achievements rage.

Yoshi-P doesn't like them, he had to put them in the base game but after that you don't have to have them for DLC's, pretty sure he's mentioned it in one of the live letters before.

After playing this game further, I'm now level 44 and love that the ingame "achievements" actually give ingame rewards; maybe this isn't so bad after all?

More games need to reward you in game stuff for achievements.
Really enjoying the gameplay too. Regardless of Achievements/trophies. Lack of trophies doesn't seem to matter as much on this game compared to others for some reason. Why is that?

God of War didn't add any when it added New Game+, and that's also DLC. I guess it's a choice for devs to make, Square didn't feel like it, cool.

Who knew that the in game achievements that gives you loads of different actual rewards was better than doing trophies that only gives you a bigger e-pen 8)

I mean the only dlcs in destiny that got trophies were the big ones (Taken King, Rise of Iron, Forsaken.)

The numerous other expansions didn't get a single new trophy.

Partly because the trophies for the original ARR are designed so that you could collect them naturally through several expansions (or just grind them out like I did). Also partly because the trophies are so boring. Why would anyone want any more!

Funny thing is that this thread put this game back on my radar. Just hit level 60 and thought to myself, "why did I drop this game years ago after less than a month?". This game is such a reward in itself. I really don't give a single crap about trophies for it.

At least I can thank the OP for reminding that this game exists, so some positive came out of it.
