I want to agree but he is the best part of DB Super so I'm glad they undid it now.
Yeah, Vegeta very much took on a co-star role in Super and I'm here for it. As a character, I prefer him over Goku, but of course, Goku gets the better fights most of the time, so there's that.

Goku should have died fighting Cell, Vegeta should have died taking out Kid Buu. This would set up a spin-off/sequel about Gohan mentoring Goten and Trunks who would eventually lead the next generation of DB.

Was Goten in Super? I can't remember him beyond Z.
He was in no meaningful way, same as kid Trunks.

No because he's popular.
That bit was still stupid for me. He'd spent like 170 episodes helping the good guys by that point, he helped them fight the Ginyu Force and Frieza, he helped fight the Androids, he helped train Future Trunks, he was basically the reason Gohan managed to beat Cell, he helped to deal with Babidi and the ones in his spaceship, but then they have to give him a big dramatic moment where he blows himself up and finally redeems himself?
He just goes pop, it does nothing, and then Goku pops along and is like "lol I totally had a new transformation all along".
All the times he helped them was out of his own self-interests/survival. And Cell was really his fault. To be honest, Vegeta never really redeems himself but the characters and the audience get over it.

No. One sacrifice doesn't make up for all he did before and I like what they've done with Vdgeta in the Super manga recently.

This, even when watching this when it first aired in the states I was like "you caused this though!" Your dumbass pride was the main cause for his resurrection. And let's not forget he also killed a bunch of crowd people at the tournament and people in the city just hours before this.

If he was like his Super self from the beginning(when they return to earth) I would liked him more; but causing 2/3 major villains in Z will always be a stain on his record...and that was before him being a genocidal servant of Frieza.

yes its well established death doesn't mean shit in this universe.

That being said, I always thought it was dumb Vegeta got to keep his body and everything. Reminded me of Anakin getting to become a force ghost.

Dude does countless heinous act. Killed millions. Has one moment of self sacrifice and all is forgiven.

Goku should have died at the end of the cell saga, vegeta dies in Buu saga

rest of the saga is held down by piccolo, Gohan, goten and trunks.

No, because it was good to see him actually grow as a character after giving up his life to try and save the Earth. Especially when you bring in everything that happened in Super.

I don't think he got to keep his body like, as a reward. In the manga it says Enma kept his body "around" because he thought he might need to use Vegeta to fight Boo. So he was probably still in hell and just put back together when they needed him?

See all of the long lasting decisions made during the Boo saga? Do the opposite of them. The Boo saga is trash that Toriyama shat out because the editors wouldn't leave him alone.

It was an impactful moment for me as a kid watching it on Cartoon Network.
The rollout of the show was painfully slow back then. I really had no idea what came next. It seemingly felt like ages til the next season kicked back up again.

But of course, the fact that Majin Buu shrugged it off kinda cheapens the impact. About as useful as Chiaotzu trying to kill Nappa.

Vegeta has always been a piece of shit. He committed the same genocides he denounces freiza for. His "sacrifice" comes because he loves his family but its only minutes after killing thousands of innocent fans because he wanted a bit more power.

i would have been for him remaining dead if his death actually accomplished anything.

In a world where you can revive someone by turning on a GPS, why would you want to make Bulma or Chi Chi widowed and Gotenks or Trunks fatherless?

Because:

Replace "hot babes" with "strong fighters".

It's a good scene but that would effing suck considering Buu himself isn't truly terrible. Let Vegeta go out for good against something irredeemable, at least.

If it would have killed Buu and ended the series, sure. As is, damn near everybody else has come back, and like other people have said Vegeta in Super being a husband/dad is good times.

I've never watched this before and...man what a terribly paced 10 minutes. It felt like a parody of every anime stereotype.

Warning! potential bad take.
Vegeta should've stayed dead after frieza. He really didn't do anything to deserve being brought back to life in the first place.

With that said, I would've preferred if Raditz and Vegeta roles were switched.

No, because it gives the chance for more character growth and death is a farce in Dragonball.

If it actually worked and he defeated Buu, yes he should have stayed dead. But DBZ kinda wasted that moment so bringing him back and moving on from it was the best choice.
