Recently, both Metroid Prime 4 at TGA2018 and Persona 5R being the Switch version was completely fake.
Was the rumor that the character will be Erdrick or the protagonist from DQXI? I remember seeing both

Both and even an alt for the protagonist of DQX. Base character is Erdrick though.

It's kinda different here, the big complaint was that Fire emblem, a series with a defined sword, axe and spear weapons triangle along with bows staff and even transforming warriors has 7 characters that all primarily use swords.
This is a different franchise where the character has a sword but is also a magic and item user

I'm not so sure. His character attributes sort of lean more towards a younger frame.They're likely going for the adult design because it's also the only one that has a female counterpart drawn by Toriyama:
P5R and P5U weren't announced at that point (P5U still isn't), and neither was the Granblue Fantasy Versus fighting game. Hence the rumor.

Although I got a friend to do it for me (I don't know any Japanese), so maybe layers got introduced that obfuscated the message.

If you think all Japanese characters or media is anime, you're just straight up ignorant. DQ predates the modern anime style anyway.

I was under the impression that DQV hero is the most popular DQ hero in Japan since he's featured in a lot of media outside of Dragon Quest and even my friend that lives in Japan posted pictures of kids dressed as the DQV hero during Halloween.
P5R, P5U, a DQ rep in Smash, and a Granblue fighting game were all rumored before that one meta-rumor. I still don't see any reason to trust the other details of that rumor just yet.
In fairness, DQ character designs are literally drawn by Akira Toriyama, one of the most famous manga artists of all time who made dragonball. DQ art is anime as fuck by definition (Though anime is hardly one art style anyways)
I'm just ripping the translation from Persona Central, but looking at the chan post it is correct. The marketing line and P5R 2019 are separate lines, and so separate thoughts.

His speed is more comparable to Young Link's. As far as weight goes, he's still lighter than Link, despite the armor being weightier, so he's most likely smaller than Link.
Actually that was after another Granblue Fantasy rumor was already spread. Hitagi or whatever his name was from gamefaqs leaked as much far before the one you're referring to.

That the person mentioned marketing for P5R and P5U on one line, and then mentioned P5R being 2019 on another. Those are separate lines, and so they are separate thoughts. Could still be a bogus leak, but it definitely wasn't saying marketing would be in 2019.
Ahhhh. So if (and it's still an if) the leak is real, we would be looking at an implication for P5 and P5U on Switch.
