Not much of a spoiler question but do they actually show Kratos' new wife at all in the game or is it something that is not shown at all?

If
I was watching a twitch stream and the kid wasnt with kratos. the fuck? so i guess some segments are without him

I am not wrong, the kid gets injured and Kratos has to get something for the healer, I'd assume that's why the segment will be without him...

I could be completely wrong on this but the kid seems to be a weapon, I just saw something where he refers to him as "it"...Kratos seems to be guarding (or hiding) him to achieve some other purpose...

all leaked endings are fake, especially the one with Atreus and Odin, due to the fact that you can continue to play the game as Kratos and Atreus after credit rolled.

However, as a lot of people are getting their hand on physical copies of the game, I suspect that we will get full ending within tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.

Many BS posts in various sites talking about the greatsword, longsword or whataver it is called in this game according to them but no one seems to post any proof of it. I am starting to lose hope and think there are no other weapons except the ones we know about but there is the ESRB rating that described everything in detaisl and explicitely mentioned swords.
So I will still keep hope. And again some reviews mentioned subweapons so...

From what ive gathered there are 2 main weapons. Blades and the Axe. They both feature trees and runes. And then ive heard there are smaller sub weapons that dont have a dedicated tree etc. Im not sure what they are, however.

Yeah. This is what I read too.Well don't forget the bow and the shield thay are major weapons too and have skill trees and upgrades. Well the ESRB ratingis accurate and described things in details and clearly mentioned swords. Some reviews mentioned subweapons with no upgrades and some leaks mentioned how you get them from killed optional valkyrie bosses. Recently I read some calling some longsword, greatsword but I didn't see pictures yet.

Something new about the Egyptian enemies?
They look to me pretty generic and not necessarily egyptian-like, but someone confirmed that Egyptian gods are in fact in the game in some form?

Well that tiger snake creature looks like an Egyptian mythological creature but there is a similar one in Norse mythology. Still Egyptian goddess statue is shown in the loot room of the dark elves next to the Greek Vase depicting Kratos' carnage and the Roman Centurion helmet. It seems the dark elves are fond of stealing trophies from extinct civilisations. But I also read supposed leaks mentioning some Egyptian gods' hints in the game. So who knows.

No, just speculation.

Thank you both!
My take is that this game will only feature Norse myths, if the leaks are accurate we know that only 3 gods will be bossfights, and none of them are the most recognized and popular ones.
So I expect a trilogy on Norse legends at least, and then SSMS moving to something else if they do more GoW games.

I don't understand why story spoilers need to be PM'ed in a Spoiler Thread.

I'd like to know too, so PM me please.

Because the embargo for legitimate early reviewers prevents them from talking/streaming about the game until it's released - only written reviews were allowed at embargo, no guides, etc. So nobody wants to risk the wrath of sony by posting the ending.

I caught the stream on Twitch that showed off some extreme late-game content for about an hour or two (including the final story boss and ending), so you don't have to. The final sequence is beautifully paced and I think those of you playing the full journey from beginning to end will feel like you've earned a powerful sense of satisfaction. As you might expect, it's also a bold setup for the future continuation of the series, if somewhat predictable if you know your Norse gods.

I have no relationship with Sony and am under no embargo—I've just been watching streams—so I'll post here instead of dumping this in PMs for the sake of open discussion. Please don't PM me about this. What you see is what I know. Keep in mind I haven't played the full game yet and can't give you the context for everything. I will say that having the late content spoiled for me hasn't diminished my interest in playing (indeed, I'm quite interested in witnessing the whole thing now), but some of you may wish to err on the safe side and not read anything anyway.

I'm going to answer this in two parts, in case anyone who clicks on the first part feels like they've seen too much, has second thoughts, and wants to turn back.

The world serpent spits Kratos and Atreus out into a final confrontation with Baldur, who is indeed the same rival who shows up at the beginning of the game as the Stranger.

Freya is not the mother. In this game (and in a departure from the mythology, if I'm not mistaken), Freya is Baldur's mother and wants Baldur alive. She evidently appears as a recurring character throughout the game. Baldur wants Freya dead; Kratos wants Freya alive. The setup for the final fight is Kratos and Atreus intervening in Freya and Baldur's reunion, against her wishes. Thanks to Atreus and a sliver of mistletoe (if you know your Norse myths, you know where this is going), Baldur can finally feel a thing or two. During the fight, Freya attempts to intervene, but ultimately you dispense with Baldur the usual way (Ragnarok, here we come!) and he dies, uttering with his last breath a premonition of snow. Freya swears to direct her wrath against Kratos into what will surely be the next game.

Kratos at last reveals his Spartan identity and past to Atreus in a few sentences. There's a brief exchange about godhood, moral agency, and fate. This conversation also confirms that yes, they encountered Zeus earlier in the game. They move on to the summit of the mountain.

But wait! There's more! You probably want to turn back.

The game goes on after the final boss without any more combat, which came off to me as a wonderfully paced bookend to the quiet opening minutes.

Kratos and Atreus reach their destination, the halls of Jotunheim. They learn from the artwork that their journey was foretold by the giants, all the way up to their fight with Baldur minutes ago, and understand that Faye herself was a giant. They proceed to the summit to spread the ashes together. Atreus has one final question: why in the artwork he was referred to as Loki. Kratos answers that Loki was the name Faye wanted for him before he was born, and perhaps the name she communicated to her own people, but doesn't seem to realize its significance himself. As they descend from the mountain and the credits roll, Kratos explains his choice of the name Atreus.

Upon reaching a certain point, there is a UI notification that you are now free to continue exploring the world. Mimir (who's on your belt throughout all this as a head, though he sits out the spreading of the ashes to give Kratos and Atreus some family privacy) chatters on about how you may have brought about the start of Ragnarok much earlier than expected. Here, the streamer continued to play until he was confronted by Thor, outside the house where you start. You don't get to fight him, though. Cut to black and more credits. The streamer loaded back into the game, again at the house; here Atreus remarks on seeing a vision of Thor and believing it to be a premonition of the future. Kratos tells him to worry about it tomorrow, and the (postgame) adventure continues.

Anyway, the short of it is that Atreus is Loki, you end the game by triggering Ragnarok (as many speculated on learning that Baldur was a recurring boss), Freya wants you dead, and you'll spend the next game or two massacring the entire Norse pantheon. After all, this is God of War. But anything can happen, as Kratos seems insistent that Atreus's fate and godhood are his to decide, so I would expect that question (the question of whether Atreus will perish along with everyone else like Loki in the myths, or go about it differently) to drive the plot of the new series from here.

It's a spoiler thread, and spoiler threads have spoilers, but I agree with you that those hotly anticipating playing the game on day one should probably get out of this thread now while they can. The game's out in the wild and it's best if we have this thread as containment for those want to discuss it.

It's also why I think we would benefit from having tools for masking threads, since accidental clicks have demonstrably been a problem. But I totally understand if anyone wants to put my posts on ignore until the game is out, just for safety.

so the game ends with Thor and Kratos face to face and then cut to black?

Think of it like a post-credits tag, a bonus ending after the ending. The "main" end credits had already rolled by that point, the story was over, and there was already a notification that you are free to continue exploring. To be honest, I wasn't completely paying attention at that point and didn't see exactly what triggers Thor's appearance (it caught me by surprise). It happens when you return to the cabin where you started, but I don't know how much choice you have in the matter or if you're allowed to run around and play more of the game first.

wait, so is Freya and Faye the same person?

No, definitely not. Faye is dead and you carry her ashes in an urn the whole way through (and it's implied that her name is derived from Laufey; I didn't see the game say so explicitly, but the ending makes it obvious). Freya appears in the game, survives the game, and will almost certainly be back as a boss in one of the sequels.
